The house
This picturesque cottage for 2 is located in the hameau Montgaudon, just outside Préporche. It was once a shepherd's cottage. It has been completely renovated and cosily decorated. The French windows opening onto the terrace, give a beautiful view over the hills. Downstairs is the living-dining room with a serious kitchen (with an oven). On the mezzanine is the sleeping area (with two single beds) and the bathroom with toilet and shower. This can be reached with a narrow (somewhat steep) staircase. For the colder days or evenings, there is a lovely fireplace to keep you warm. The terrace opens onto the meadow with the old pear tree. Choose a nice shady spot on hot summer days.

There are various weekly and monthly markets in the area. In the summer season, antique markets (the so-called brocantes or "vide greniers") are organised regularly.
The surroundings are perfect for lovely walking and cycling trips. In the house are maps/routes for hiking and biking.
Saint-Honoré-les-Bains (8km) is an old spa town with thermal baths, a casino, a public swimming pool and a mini-golf course.
In Moulins-Englibert there is a market every week and a cattle market every month (Marché au Cadran) which is nice to visit. It is the largest auction of young cattle in France.
At the highest mountain of the Morvan, Mont Beuvray (34 km), is a museum with old Roman excavations (Bibracte). The view of the Morvan from here is magnificent.
The many rivers and Canal de Nivernais (4 km) are perfect for fishing. A little more to the north lies Lac de Pannecieres (37km) and Lac des Settons (46km). Water sports are possible here in good weather.

Erg sfeervol huisje in een idyllische natuurrijke omgeving. Het terras is erg prettig. Uitzicht is fantastisch. Keuken is goed uitgerust. Canal Nivernais was een leuke bezienswaardigheid

Wat een heerlijk huisje om tot rust te komen en te genieten van de late zomer. We hebben vele mooie wandelingen gemaakt, een fietstocht met pittig klimmetjes en boeken gelezen. Het uitzicht vanaf het zonnige terras is prachtig. Overdag de grazende koeien op de helling, roofvogels in de avond en duizenden sterren in de nacht.

La Bergerie is een heerlijk gezellig huisje waarin alles dat een mens nodig heeft aanwezig is met een heerlijk terras met een adembenemend uitzicht. We voelden er ons meteen thuis. Ontbijten in de zon en ook borrelen en dineren bij ondergaande zon. De omgeving leent zich uitstekend voor het maken van wandelingen en fietstochten en de het het terras en weiland biedt op diverse plekjes gelegenheid om van de zon of koelte te genieten. Al met al een heerlijk gezellig huis voor 2 en een heerlijke plek. Aanrader!
Activities
The Morvan is a nature reserve, where the tranquillity and beautiful rural surroundings are especially important. It is lovely to walk here from the house or to start a little further by car. Walking and cycling maps are available in the house.
In Moulins-Engilbert (12 km) there is a weekly market, and once a month a cattle market (Marché au Cadran) which is nice to visit. It is the largest auction of young cattle in France.

Relaxation is something you automatically do when you stay here. The silence is soothing and the starry skies are amazingly beautiful. Lie on your back in the grass and enjoy the starry sky. There is no light pollution in this nature reserve. The summers are hot and dry. If you would like to go horse riding, there is a possibility to visit a riding school over the hill. Riding is possible here by appointment.
