The house
Through a cosy little front garden, you enter our cosy French cottage. A living room with small open kitchen, a bedroom with 1 double bed and
2 single beds and through the bedroom you enter a spacious bathroom with toilet, shower and sink.
The living room has a spacious seating area and a large dining table with chairs.
The kitchen is small and authentic, but fully equipped, including a combination microwave oven, coffee maker, gas cooker and fridge.
You can rent the attic above the cottage at an additional cost.
This spacious attic with an area of 40 square metres is located above the gîte. Both in summer and winter, this attic is a lovely space, with a cosy stove and a living room atmosphere. This attic contains a double bed, and two single beds. A desk and a wardrobe. At night, you can watch the stars from the attic window the bed is under. There are often clear nights here and so in the month of August you can regularly see a shooting star passing by

Our house is on the border of the nature reserve of the Morvan. It is a mountainous landscape with many forests, meadows and beautiful viewpoints. The area is excellent for walking and cycling and many routes have been mapped out.
The Morvan also has a number of lakes like Lac des Settons or Lac de Pannecière where you can swim, rent boats and laze around or enjoy the restaurants and nature.
There is plenty of water in the Morvan. The Yonne and smaller rivers originate in the Morvan and therefore this area is excellent for trout fishing or (wild) water canoeing.
In and around the Morvan, you will also find many castles, beautiful picturesque cities and of course the wine route of Burgundy.

Na de lockdown vanwege corona konden we weer eindelijk naar de Morvan. We hebben een heerlijke week gehad. De gite had alles wat we nodig hadden. Het was niet groot maar we hadden mooi weer en dat maakt alles nog mooier. Verder werden we gastvrij ontvangen door Gertrud en Leen. Het zwembad en hun heerlijke tuin gaf ons rust en we hebben weer boeken kunnen lezen. Verder is de Morvan een prachtige streek en je verveelt je zeker niet. Bedankt voor jullie gastvrijheid.

Burgundy is world famous for its great red and white wines. A trip through the vineyards, a wine tasting and afterwards enjoying delicious Burgundian cuisine, will make your holiday a celebration.
Activities
The Morvan is a wonderful area to walk for hours without meeting anyone. You can make light and heavy cycling trips, there are opportunities for water sports, golf and climbing.
There are many castles to visit in the area. Along the 'Route des Ducs de Bourgogne' there are 16 castles to visit, each one worthwhile.
Furthermore, there are many historical remains from the Roman times to enjoy.
Next to the town hall in La Celle en Morvan, is a beautiful rose garden, with many old fashioned smelling roses, which you can visit freely.

Further remarks
In the spacious backyard there is a lovely swimming pool which offers coolness on hot summer days.
We also offer chambre d'hôtes in the adjacent house.
Early in the morning you can take your slippers to the bakery next door. Your fresh croissants and bread, ordered one day in advance, will be waiting for you.
