The house
Our stylish village smithy (la Forge) was professionally restored in 2011 while maintaining the beautiful authentic details.
A tasteful house to spend your holiday.
Inside you will find a dining and sitting area with wood stove, an open kitchen, storage room and wc.
The upper floor has three bedrooms. Two bedrooms have double beds, one room has a bunk bed. There is a bathroom with walk-in shower and wc.
La Forge has a private garden of 555 m2 and a round swimming pool (diameter 5m) with lighting.
The garden is completely fenced. There are sun chairs, a covered terrace and a barbecue.

Our holiday home is located in Sainpuits, a village in the Puisaye, a small region in the Yonne. An area of rolling hills, vast forests, hedge-lined farmlands and lots of water.
The baker's, a small supermarket and cafe are within walking distance, the cosy village square is nearby!
Yonne is the region of flea markets and antiques fairs, castle festivals, contemporary artists, crafts (pottery, stone carving, forging ...), whitewater sports and horse riding.
At 12 km from La Forge is the town of Saint-Sauveur-en-Puisaye. Here you will find supermarkets, banks, chemist, local shops, etc. The city of Toucy is half an hour's drive away. Be sure to visit the pleasant morning market on Saturday. Auxerre, the capital of Yonne is well worth a visit and is located 50 km from the Orangerie.

Restaurants, food & wine
When you say Burgundy you automatically think of wine. La Forge in Sainpuits is ideally located to visit different wine regions and domains. Chablis and Sancerre are each 45 minutes away, as is the Pouilly-Fumé region. The Loire rivier runs half an hour south of our house.
You should never drive far for a "plat du jour". You can find them in almost every restaurant. Sometimes you get a four course menu for € 11 such as in Lion d'Or in Bouthy. But enjoying a more extensive meal on a terrace in the evening is also part of the holiday fun...
In various villages you will find picturesque markets with lots of home-grown vegetables and fruit. With this harvest you can get started for a relaxing evening in the garden of our holiday home.
Activities
A walking route goes right through the village. The medieval building project "Chateau de Guedelon" is a twenty minute drive away. At about the same distance you will find the Réservoir de Bourdon. A large reservoir with numerous water sports facilities such as surfing, sailing, pedal boats, etc. There is also a supervised swimming area during the summer. Horse riding tours can be taken from the nearby riding school. Cyclists get their money's worth on the rolling hills or for the less experienced cyclists along the Nivernais canal. Saint-Amand and Puisaye is the mecca for lovers of pottery!

A pet (dog) is only allowed after consultation and under certain conditions.

In the months of July and August there is a minimum stay of two nights.
Bed linen and towels can also be rented for us.
