The house
La Mere Centurion is a spacious and comfortable FREE-standing house dating from 1861, an authentic Maison Bourgeoise with open views. It is characterised by authentic style elements. La Mere Centurion has a partially walled garden and a playground.
Ground floor
Entrance, spacious toilet, dining room, living room, television corner, kitchen and pantry, living room has a characteristic layout with beamed ceiling, fireplace, 2 chesterfield sofas and chesterfield armchair, a t.v. corner with lounche sofa and chesterfield armchairs, on a large part of the ground floor are tomettes.
There is a well-equipped kitchen (16.20 m²) with ample crockery, cutlery, pans and utensils . Cooker (110 wide) with double oven, senseo, dolce gusto, and filter machine, kettle, fridge with freezer. The living room has a bookcase with Ned. books and a radio/CD player, t.v. corner with DVD.
1st floor
Double landing, bathroom with washbasin and toilet, walk-in shower. Master bedroom (bed 1.80 x 2.10 m mattress size is 2 x 90 wide) and 2 bedrooms each with 2 x single beds (0.90 x 2.00 m), 2 bedrooms have a cozy old fireplace, but fireplace is not allowed. Mattress height over 20 cm. All beds have mattress toppers, pillows and (Vandyck) duvets.
In the garden there are several seating areas, a playground, a BBQ and a smoking barrel. There is a ping-pong table in the barn.

Ervy le Chatel is about 2 km away. There are the usual amenities, such as a supermarket, bakery, butcher, petrol station, hairdresser, bank, post office, tourist office, doctor, ambulance etc.

On the border of the department Aube with Burgundy at 550 km from Utrecht, below Troyes, in the valley of the river Armance, is this magnificent detached Maison Bourgeoise. It has a private driveway with access gate. Enclosed and overgrown terrain about 2,500 m², the whole is quietly situated.

La Mere Centurion is located in the Champagne region on the border with Burgundy. There are various champagne routes in the vicinity.
The town of Chablis, known for its white wine, is approximately 28 km away.
Eaux Puiseaux has a cider museum where cider is pressed in the traditional way.
The region is known for the sparkling wine that is produced here, namely champagne. The champagne is mainly made from the grape variety Chardonnay. There are several car routes along the champagne houses and several museums about champagne. The famous wine Beaujolais Nouveau also comes from this region. Officially, 12 wines bear the name Beaujolais, but in the Netherlands Beaujolais Nouveau is the best known. Other dishes from the region are the Ardennes ham, the Boudin Blanc (white tripe), truffles and cheese from Langres or Chaource.
Activities
In the immediate vicinity are several old towns such as Ervy le Chatel, Tonnerre, Chablis, Chaourse, these places are famous for its wine and cheese.
Troyes, the capital of the Champagne-Ardenne department, is a medieval trading town where the old town centre (shaped like a champagne cork) still retains much of its cathedrals and half-timbered houses, is well worth a visit.
In summer, there are several local events, such as 48-hour Oldtimers in Troyes, entertainment festival in Othe and several other local events.
In the unlikely event of rain, there are several games available in the house. There is a ping-pong table in the play barn.
Walking and cycling
There are hiking and cycling routes in the immediate vicinity. In the wine cellar there are 2 bicycles you can use.
Markets and flea markets
In addition to the local weekly markets, brocantes, vide-greniers and antique markets are organised throughout the Champagne-Ardenne region.
Fishing
There are several fishing lakes in the area where you can fish for carp.

Nearby is also Lac de la Fôret du Orient. With more than 70,000 ha, it is a vast area with reservoirs and forests, a gently sloping landscape where you can enjoy walking and cycling. Lac de la Fôret du Orient has developed into one of the bigger tourist attractions
There are 3 large lakes, each with its own destination:
* Lac du Orient, water sports such as sailing,surfing,swimming fishing and even diving. Beautiful landscaped sandy beaches.
* Lac du Temple, with rougher shores, especially for nature lovers but you can also sail,row, swim and especially fish.
* Lac Amance Port Dienville, here mainly motorised water activities are allowed such as water skiing and jet skiing.
Golf
Chaource has a golf course, la Cordeliere, on the beautiful grounds of Château de la Cordelière, 18 holes, par 72.

Gliding
Cheu airport is 12 km away here you can practice gliding.
Tonnerre
With the Fosse Dionne spring. The spring bubbles up with great force and is really worth a look. It is the second longest geological water passage in France and possesses a unique Ecosystem and rich plant life. Located at an altitude of 140 metres, one wonders where this continuous flowing water comes from. It was constructed in 1758 as a washing place.

In Dolancourt, 70 km away, you will find the amusement park Nigloland.

Prachtig huis met veel ruimte en een grote tuin in een mooie rustige omgeving.

In April ,2014 we had the privilege of staying in this lovely vacation home. The house had every accomodation, an elaborate kitchen with modern appliances, a warm cozy living room with a fireplace and comfortable bedrooms with a beautiful view. The surrounding area is quiet and quaint, with a scenic village close by along with other villages and cities within an half hour drive that exemplify the beauty of France's countryside and culture. The people are wonderfully friendly and kind. If it is possible for us to return to Europe, we would certainly want to go back to this house in France. The house is quiet and comfortable, a place to really have a relaxing vacation. This French countryside, is known as wine country. We traveled amongst the rolling hillside vineyards of Champagne, Chablis, etc, and Paris was within an hour drive. Our picture is from the city of Joigny.
In April 2014, hadden wij de voorrecht om te blijven logeren in dit erg mooie vacantie huis (mansion). De huis is van alle moderne voorzieningen ingericht. Een grote keuken met moderne voorzieningen, een warme gezellige woonkamer met openhaard en comfortable slaapkamers met een schitterend uitzicht. De omgeving is stil en gezellig met een leuk ouderwets dorp dichtbij, met vele andere dorpen en steden in de buurt die de Franse culturele uitstraling hebben. De Franse mensen waren erg vriendelijk . Als wij het reis uit Amerika, weer mochten maken zouden wij graag terug willen gaan naar dit huis..zo lekker stil, zonder drukte...echt ontspanning. Onze photo is van Joigny.

Wat hebben wij genoten van dit prachtige huis en de geweldige omgeving! We hebben echt een topvakantie gehad! Pluspunt vonden wij de twee aanwezige fietsen, waardoor we elke ochtend verse broodjes konden halen bij de bakker in het dorp. Volgens de twee jongste reisgenoten (3 en 5 jaar oud) was het zwembad en het speeltuintje het leukst. We raden dit huis zeker aan en hopen zelf ook nog eens terug te keren!
