The house
The holiday home consists of 2 separate large residences, each with 3 large bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen. The houses can be rented separately but through a double door (no sound) the houses can be connected.
House A (6 persons) circa 110 m2 (left hand side seen from the road)
- Living room with separate sitting and dining area.
- Very spacious American kitchen with ceramic hob,
dishwasher, microwave and washing machine.
- Equipped with large wood stove and gas heater as additional heating.
- Bathroom with shower, double washbasin and toilet. (Hot water by means of 150 ltr
boiler)
- Upstairs 3 very spacious bedrooms, one with washbasin. (1 2-prs
bed and 4 1-prs beds, 1-prs folding bed and 1 cot)
- Toys for children available.
House B (6 persons) approx. 110 (seen from the road on the right)
- Living room with separate sitting and dining area.
- Open kitchen with ceramic hob, dishwasher and combination microwave oven.
- Equipped with large wood stove, fireplace and a gas heater as additional heating.
- Very spacious bathroom with shower, washbasin, toilet and
washing machine. (Hot water by means of 150 ltr boiler).
- Downstairs 1 spacious bedroom with 2-prs bed (next to the bathroom).
- Upstairs 2 very spacious bedrooms, one with washbasin (1 2-prs.
bed, 1 cot and 3 1-prs beds of which 1 bunk bed).
- Toys for children available.
Pets are not allowed in bedrooms and on sofas and chairs !

SURROUNDINGS
The house is located in a quiet wooded area in the French Meuse region about 35 kilometres south of Verdun and 40 kilometres north of Toul, in the town of Varvinay.
From Utrecht ±520 km.
Varvinay is located near the
recreation area Lac de Madine in the nature reserve Parc Naturel Régional de Lorraine.
Fishing enthusiasts can also indulge themselves here. Do you like walking, cycling or horse riding? The forest and the 20 km. long path along the lake offer plenty of possibilities. For a change of scenery, you can make trips to the historical places Verdun, Metz, Toul and Nancy.
THE HOLIDAY HOME
The holiday house is situated on 3.000m2 own land. The small forest next to house A (seen from the road, the left part of the house) is also part of this, as well as the meadow next to house B. In the large garden there is a cable car, swings, slide and seesaw for the children. There is also a campfire place where gathered wood can be burned. From the garden you have a splendid view over a far stretching meadow landscape with horses and sheep. Along the garden runs a small (shallow) brook.
The house is suitable for two families. Both houses have a living room, kitchen, bathroom and 3 bedrooms. The houses are separated by a double dividing door on the ground floor that can be closed from both sides, so the house is also suitable to rent as 2 separate houses.

Mooie rustige locatie - heerlijke natuur wandelingen mogelijk in de buurt - heerlijk de hele week onder de overkapping gegeten en genoten van de rust van het Franse platteland
Lekker schoon huis (B) en duidelijke communicatie met eigenaarJeroen Cats from Utrecht,
Zeer fijne vakantiewoning aan zeer rustige dorpsstraat van het gehucht Varvinay. Ruime woning, zowel de keuken en woonkamer, als de drie slaapkamers boven zijn royaal en smaakvol ingericht. De loungebank beneden, de bedden, allemaal uitstekend. De badkamer is op de begane grond en lijkt mij recent geheel vernieuwd. Goede douche, dubbele wastafel, helemaal prima. Hier kom je tot rust. Het is snachts zeer stil en donker. In de directe omgeving ligt op ca 20 auto minuten het plaatsje Saint Mihiel, waar je een prima bakker vindt, enkele terrassen en restaurants. Deze plaats bleek onze dagelijkse uitvalsbasis voor wandelingen, een taartje met koffie en de supermarkt. Ligt prachtig aan de Maas. De antieke bibliotheek, tickets bij de vvv, , is ook een aanrader.
Les Fontaines biedt verder een enorme tuin met een enorme overkapping waaronder je een eettafel en prima tuinstoelen treft. Vuurtje stoken of grillen hebben wij niet gedaan, maar kan hier perfect.

Wat een heerlijk verblijf! Een klein dorpje waar de tijd stil lijkt te staan. Het huisje is schoon en blijft lekker koel, het weer was ideaal om veel buiten te zijn. Eten deden we onder de overkapping - het Franse leven! Onze kinderen hebben heerlijk in de grote tuin gespeeld. We hebben zelfs vosjes en hertjes vanuit de achtertuin gespot! Veel activiteiten zijn binnen acceptabele rij-afstand. Echt een aanrader. Het heerlijke bed is een goede bonus - na een week op een te klein bed te hebben geslapen...
Restaurants, food & wine
The area has its own wine, which is available in Vigneules. (Furthermore, the area is known for the MIRABELLE (this is a small yellow plum). From this they make, among other things, a kind of gin. In a village further on (La Crue) there is a small beer brewery.

FACILITIES AROUND LAKE MADINE
Around the lake there are playgrounds, climbing wall, 9-hole golf course, tennis courts, minigolf, bar, restaurant, sailing school and a riding school. Furthermore, sailing boats, surfboards, catamarans, canoes, pedal boats and mountain bikes are for rent.

Drive via Chaillon to Vigneulles and turn left in the village (signposted).
Lac de Madine
As mentioned before, there is something for everyone at this lake. There are 2 entrances
by car to get to the lake: Lac de Madine 1 and 2/3.
Lac de Madine 1 is the largest and here are the most recreational facilities.
You drive via Chaillon (turn right before the telephone box) to Heudicourt. In Hedicourt there are already
signs "Lac de Madine".
Butte de Montsec
This is a huge American war monument, which can be seen from the lake.

Further remarks
PRICES
During all school holidays the rent is € 495,= and outside € 395= per week. We charge a deposit of € 100,= which will be refunded to you when the house is left clean and tidy.
If the house is not rented for a whole week (for example during the generally recognised holidays), a price of € 100,= per day per house will be charged.
For unlimited wireless internet and calls to landlines in the Netherlands we charge € 3.50 per day.

Prices are per dwelling. This is a semi-detached holiday home with 2 separate houses connected by a double door. The possibility of making it one house, but also the possibility of having privacy. Each house has its own facilities (bathroom, TV, kitchen etc. etc.).
- For unlimited wireless internet and calling landlines in the Netherlands, we charge € 3.50 p/day.
- Final cleaning is done by the caretaker and the fee is € 60.
- From October to May we charge € 50,= per week for heating costs (firewood)
- Tourist tax is € 1.10 per adult per night. Persons under 18 years are free of charge
