The house
In the south of France in the Ariege in the village of Lasserre with stunning views of the Pyrenees, our house Goutorbe (built in 2000) is located on 3600 m2 of land. The house has a covered terrace of 40 m2 and is fully equipped. Next to the house is a swimming pool with a diameter of 5 m and 1.20 deep.
The house is classified with 3 stars as Meuble de France.
Layout: 6-person house with a total living area of 130 m2.
Spacious living/dining room with sitting area, wood-burning stove (no fireplace!), electric heating, TV (Dutch channels via Chromecast ), Internet glass fibre , Radio-/CD player.
Open kitchen with dishwasher, microwave oven, fridge with freezer compartment.
Bathroom with bath/shower and toilet. Cellar (also storage room) with washing machine.
1 bedroom with 1x2-bed, 1 bedroom with 2x1-bed, vide/mezzanine with 3x1-bed. There is 1 cot available. Balcony on the upper floor.

Lasserre is a village with 250 inhabitants, where one can enjoy the peace and nature and from the terrace you have a beautiful view of the Pyrenees, while in the evening you can see the most beautiful sunsets!
From the house there are several hiking routes and one can cycle several routes of the Tour de France.
In the area there are a number of sights worth visiting , e.g. Mas d'Azil (caves), Cascade d'Ars (waterfall), St.Lizier (world heritage), Carla Bayle (artists' village), Foix (castle).
In Saint-Girons (12 km) you will find all kinds of amenities including supermarket, post office, weekly market (Saturday mornings).
For day trips you can think of Lourdes (place of pilgrimage), Mirepoix (well-preserved medieval town), Cominac (old mountain village), Ax-les- Thermes (hot springs), Montségur (Cathars), Guzet-Neige (winter sports) and Andorra.
After all these excursions and opportunities, the swimming pool invites you to cool down.

Wat een fantastisch huis (het voelde, toen we aankwamen, meteen goed) : super schoon, comfortabel, gezellig, goede bedden, prachtig uitzicht, heerlijk terras met goede stoelen en erg rustig gelegen.
We hebben de afgelopen jaren heel wat huizen via gites.nl gehuurd; we denken dat we het bijna-ideale vakantiehuis nu gevonden hebben!
Een prachtige omgeving om dichtbij te wandelen, verder weg de bergen in te gaan of rondritjes te maken.
We hebben natte en droge dagen gehad, kou en zon; de (prima) kachel gestookt en konden zelfs afkoelen in het zwembad.
Jammer dat we door corona maar 2 weken i.p.v de geplande 3 konden genieten, maar we zijn van plan nog eens terug te komen....we zijn nog lang niet uitgekeken!

Het huis overtrof al onze verwachtingen, zo groot, zo prachtig gelegen en van alle gemakken voorzien. Het uitzicht vanaf de patio was elk uur van de dag indrukwekkend. Overdag genieten van de bergen, de roofvogels, optrekkende mist (1 dag) en 's avonds de zonsondergang, het onweer boven de bergen (waar wij dus helemaal geen last van hadden). We zijn compleet tot rust gekomen. Veel leuke uitstapjes gemaakt in de buurt, maar ook wat verder weg. Andorra en Spanje bezocht.

Heel bijzondere omgeving, een prachtige en adembenemende plek en een Fantastisch huis.
Wat wil een mens nog meer. We hebben echt genoten en gelijk weer geboekt voor 2019.
Restaurants, food & wine
In Tourtouse (5 km.) you will find the local restaurant Sentenac, where you can eat regional dishes for a reasonable price. Well-known is the "soupe aux choux" and Annemarie is your hostess there.
Furthermore, there are several restaurants in e.g. St.Girons, Ste.Croix-Volvestre, St.Lizier.
Activities
There are plenty of opportunities for climbing and hiking in the immediate vicinity.
In 45 minutes you can drive to the Pyrenees.
As for swimming, there are 3 options around Lasserre:
- Our own swimming pool is 1.20 deep and has a diameter of 5 metres.
- In St.Croix Volvestre (5 km.) is a lake, where one can swim.
- In St.Girons is an open air swimming pool.
In Lasserre you can go horseback riding (Haras Picard) and the tennis court is next to the town hall (1 km.).
In St.Girons there is a small airport and in Moulis there are courses for paragliding.

Next to the house is the swimming pool, 5 metres in diameter and 1.20 metres deep.
If you love peace and nature, this holiday spot is very suitable.
In the evening, you can enjoy the beautiful sunsets and with the help of/or without the stargazer, you can admire the beautiful starry sky.
The region where our holiday home is located is known for its pure air.....men say it is the "cleanest" in Europe.
