The house
Le Conte du Graal is a detached holiday home with its own gate and garden, suitable for a maximum of 2 adults. It is a wonderful homecoming in the gite, after a long day's trip or a day at the beach. We have tried to create a cosy, homely atmosphere, with modern conveniences, so that your holiday will be successful in all seasons. The cottage has a spacious garden with a nice terrace with barbecue. There is a seating area for dining al fresco in the evening, and four chairs and two sunbeds for relaxing. Layout: There is a separate bedroom with two beds (can be made up as a double bed or as two separate beds: 2 x 90 by 2 m or 1.80 by 2 m), a bathroom with shower, toilet and washbasin, a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, refrigerator, 4-burner gas hob, Senseo machine and coffee machine, kettle and combination microwave-oven, a comfortable dining area and a nice sitting area with TV, DVD/CD player (Dutch channels - satellite).
The view from the living room and from the terrace is magnificent. You look at the first high mountains of the Pyrenees. The residence, Belvianes-et-Cavirac, is known as the Gateway to the Pyrenees. In a range around the holiday home are beautiful areas, and by its central location you can during your holiday enjoy both the coast, the mountains, the culture and gastronomy.

Le Conte du Graal is situated downstairs on the outskirts of Belvianes-et-Cavirac, not in the village itself. Belvianes-et-Cavirac lies 3 km from the lively town Quillan. Here you will find the tourist office, two supermarkets (including the Carrefour), various restaurants, terraces and some shops and the ruins of a small castle. There are regular theme parties and on Wednesday and Saturday morning there is a market. There are several bakers and butchers in the centre, but also several doctors, some pharmacies and an emergency hospital.
On the other side of the gorge of Pierre Lys, there is a beautiful heated open-air swimming pool in the village of Axat, where you can also board the tourist train. On the roundabout at Axat (near the bronze statue of the bears) you will also find a large tourist office for all information on the region (only open in the high season).
Across the main street in Belvianes (the Boulevard Pierre Lys), just 300 metres from the holiday home, you will find the cosy restaurant Auberge du Chalet. At the Auberge you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner, but also just sit on the terrace with a cappuccino or an ice cream.
Also in the hotel restaurant La Maison Templière in Belvianes you can have lunch or dinner.
From Belvianes-et-Cavirac, you can do many things. The village is an ideal starting point for walks and car trips.

We hebben drie weken lang genoten van het huisje, de tuin en de omgeving.
Er zijn twee eetgelegenheden in Belvianes, zo ongeveer om de hoek en vele restaurants en terrasjes in Quillan. Enfin, de info die Gites over deze locatie geeft is vrij volledig en dekt de lading. Dat we hier voor de vijfde keer geweest zijn zegt, denken we, genoeg.
Restaurants, food & wine
From Belvianes, you drive straight onto the wine route. The wine regions spread out in all directions, including the world-famous ancestor of the Champagne: the Blanquette de Limoux. You can't go wrong with food either. Fresh products straight from the land are prepared in many restaurants by real chefs, while you only pay a fraction of what you are used to in the Netherlands and Belgium. As far as food and wine are concerned, you are in the perfect place here.
Activities
In and around Belvianes you can go hiking, mountain biking, visit historical sites, make cultural excursions and enjoy the impressive nature, history and mysteries of Cathar country. There are fantastic restaurants in the area (max. 3 km) and if you are feeling adventurous, you can go rafting on the wild Aude River next door. There are also several spa-massage-wellness possibilities in the area.

Further remarks
Service is an important issue for us. Upon arrival, your beds are made, the refrigerator is on, and in cold weather the stove is on, so you can always enjoy your holiday right away. Since we will be your neighbours, you can always contact us, even if you have tips for your holiday. The final cleaning is obligatory (40 euros, - not included). So everyone always comes in a clean house. And would you like to be shown around by an experienced guide?
