The house
The semi-detached luxury and comfortably furnished house , is located on a hill in a quiet lotissement of Limoux. The spacious living room is attractively furnished with a luxurious sofa and armchairs. For the mood there is a radio, CD player with CDs, and TV with satellite (all Ned. channels.). There is also a bookcase with a wide range of books, from exciting to entertaining. There is also a good Wifi connection. The open kitchen is fully furnished and equipped (dishwasher, induction hob, fridge, senseo machine, oven, microwave etc.). ). Both bedrooms are cozy with good beds and plenty of closet space. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower, a washbasin and a second toilet. Adjacent to the house is a large (partly covered) terrace from where you can enjoy a beautiful view over Limoux and the surrounding mountains.
In the beautifully maintained garden, fully enclosed by bushes and trees, there is a private swimming pool (8.00 x 5.00 metres, open from May to October) that is only used by guests. On the surrounding terrace you can enjoy the sun from your lazy relaxing chair. For the sports enthusiasts among you, the shed contains an outdoor table tennis table, 2 mountain bikes, bowling sets and various inflatable items for the pool. There is also a Weber barbecue.

Limoux is a medium-sized town ( about 10,000 inhabitants ) with a beautiful old city centre, situated around the Place de la Republique with its many terraces. The river Aude (the department's namesake) runs through Limoux. The region , the Languedoc , is known for its friendly people and the many hours of sunshine per year. This is partly because you are not far from Spain here. The region is characterised by its many vineyards and its rugged mountainous character. Besides the many bakers, butchers, caterers and other small shopkeepers, you will also find the large supermarkets on the outskirts of Limoux. Every Friday there is a market in the centre with many local and regional specialities. In the summer months there is an antique and brocant market every Sunday.
Furthermore, many activities are organised throughout the year for locals and tourists. Well-known among these is the Limoux Carnival, which takes place from January to March. Every weekend there are then parades through the city centre. In summer, there is a lively market every Tuesday evening. Furthermore, a large international music festival , which showcases musical groups from all over the world performing for you for free on the market square, many wine tastings in August and September and a large regional market where you can taste the best wines and cheeses from the area.
Limoux is also known for its "own" wine, the Blanquette de Limoux, this original champagne must be tasted. You can do this in various establishments, where you can also hear the story behind this delicious wine.
Furthermore, Limoux has a piano museum, a museum of music boxes and the Musée Petit where changing exhibitions of ancient and modern art take place.
When it comes to sports, Limoux and the surrounding area are ideal. Outdoor swimming pool, mini-golf or more challenging sports such as rafting, canyoning or hydrospeed. You will find all this in the immediate vicinity.
Culinary delights also abound in Limoux. The various restaurants serve the most delicious regional dishes such as Cassoulet and Fricassee.

Gelijk toen we dit huis binnenkwamen voelden we ons hier helemaal thuis.
Het is gezellig ingericht en echt alles is er aanwezig.
Vanaf de veranda heb je een prachtig uitzicht over het stadje en even afkoelen kan in het heerlijke zwembad.
In de omgeving is van alles te doen. Van leuke stadjes en het bezoeken van kastelen tot het maken van wandelingen in de prachtige natuur.
Een bezoek aan Carcassonne, Rennes le Château en het kasteel van Peyrepertuse zijn zeer aan te raden.
Ook het (app- en mail)contact met de verhuurders was heel erg aangenaam.We hebben genoten!

Restaurants, food & wine
When you visit Limoux, you should definitely take a tour of one of the many wine chateaus ( caves ) you can find in the area. Here you will hear the story of the Blanquette de Limoux. This real champage is the oldest dry white wine in the world. Cassoulet and Fricassee are famous regional dishes.
Activities
Besides the many activities mentioned above, you can be on the lovely Mediterranean beaches within an hour. Narbonne Plage, Gruissan Plage and St.Pierre are at max. 60 km. distance. You are also within an hour in the foothills of the Pyrenees, where you can ski in the winter months. The places Camuraque and Ax les Thermes have a small, but varied range of slopes.
Closer, at about 20 km. from Limoux, you will find the beautiful city of Carcassonne, known for its Cité from the Cathar era. The old city centre has been placed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO. This beautiful old city centre is definitely worth a visit. From the same Cathar period, you will find many remnants in the form of various castles and fortresses, for example Queribus, Peyrepertusse and the town of Alet les Bains. Furthermore, there are several caves (Gouffre de Cabesprine at approx. 40 km), several gorges and abbeys (St.Hilliaire). On Sunday morning there is a lively market in Esperaza (approx. 20 km) In Mirepoix find on Monday morning in the old town a lively market with lots of local products. Definitely worth a visit!

Your holiday home Le Tournesol is also easy to reach by plane. In Carcassonne (approx. 20 km) there is an international airport with connections to Charleroi (Brussels) and London Stansted via Ryan Air (www. ryanair.com). Montpellier is also about 1.5 hours away from the Netherlands and can be reached with Transavia (www.transavia.com). You can also rent a car from both companies and fly 3x daily to Toulouse (approx. 1 hour away).
