The house
Gite La Loge is ideal for couples and family alike. The large private garden, with a private above ground pool, enjoys views towards the mervent forest. In tranquil surroundings, . with various seating areas you can enjoy an evening apero, as you watch the sun set.
This recently renovated barn enjoys an open plan living area including lounge/dining and kitchen. With its high ceilings and original beams, the gite is lovely and cool in the summer and warm in the winter – its thick walls keeping a comfortable and constant temperature.
It is all on one level with no stairs, just one small step through the front door.
Equipped with everything you could need for your holiday, the gite consists of:
Fully fitted kitchen: fridge freezer, microwave, gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine,
Settee and arm chairs, coffee table, DVD player, flat screen TV – English freeview channels, French TV, internet, music centre.
2 x Double bedrooms with king size beds, located at opposite ends of the gite. (There is a possibility of changing one of the king size beds to a twin room if requested), fans and hair dryers.
Each bedroom has its own ensuite which includes toilet, wash basin and shower.
Electric heaters and fans.
There is also a collection of books, cd’s, dvds, and games (indoor and outdoor) eg. palets

Our newly renovated barn, Gite La Loge, is situated on the outskirts of the village of Foussais Payre, one of France’s Petites Cités de Caractère, in the south west of the Vendée region. The Vendée region, is known for being one of the sunniest places in France with a micro-climate of around 2500 hours of annual sunshine.
We are located on a quiet lane which leads directly into the beautiful Mervent-Vouvant forest. There are more than 200km of footpaths and cycle routes connecting over 5000 hectares of forest. You can head off on your own adventure along the cycling or hiking routes, along sunken lanes by ponds or washhouses and chateaux.
The tranquil setting of Gite La Loge will allow you relax and take in the rural scene, enriched by tree lined fields to a back drop of the edge of the Mervent-Vouvant forest. You may be lucky enough to catch glimpses of a family of deer passing through or any number of birds, from a black pheasant to a hoopoe. On hot days you may even spy silent hot air balloons gliding overhead.

We stayed in gite La Loge in July this year. We enjoyed it very much! The garden is large & beautiful, the swimming pool wonderfully cooling. The gite itself is also very pleasant and fully equipped, and not unimportantly, very clean! The surroundings are beautiful. There are many beautiful places nearby.
Corin & Mark are very friendly and helpful.

Een uitstekende, zeer rustig gelegen gite, beheerd door een uiterst vriendelijk Engels echtpaar. Er zijn twee slaapkamers met ieder een badkamer met douche en toilet. De woonkamer annex keuken is ruim. De keuken bevat alles wat je thuis ook wilt hebben. Van de tv hebben wij geen gebruik gemaakt.
Bij onze aankomst stonden er een fles wijn, bier, brood, kaasjes, melk en overheerlijke madeleines klaar.
De tuin is super groot en het zwembadje zorgde voor de nodige verkoeling. Er staan 4 ligstoelen met kussens bij. We konden heerlijk onder de overkapping aan de tafel met stoelen zitten.
Je kunt alle dagen bij het plaatselijke supermarktje brood kopen. Op de fiets ben je er in 10 minuten.
Er zijn diverse fietsroutes (kaart aanwezig) die eigenlijk voor mountainbikes zijn bedoeld. Wij hebben ze met onze tourfiets gereden, maar moesten soms wel even afstappen.

Als je van rust, ruimte en privacy houdt, niet twijfelen, boeken!
Wij hebben 2 heerlijke weken gehad in Gite La Loge.
Een fijn stuk Frankrijk waar het nog rustig is om naar toe en rond te rijden in het hoogseizoen.
Mark en Corin zijn ontzettend lieve gastvrije mensen en zorgen dat je in een heel mooi schoon gezellig verblijf aankomt!!
Ze laten je volledig met rust, hun ingang is ook aan de andere kant waardoor je ze niet tegenkomt.
Maar als je wil kan je ze alles vragen en komen ze even gezellig langs of antwoorden ze via de whatsapp.
Lekker buiten eten onder het afdak, genieten van het uitzicht, heerlijk zwembad, mooie omgeving,
strand is een uur rijden maar ook de moeite waard!

Restaurants, food & wine
We are very lucky to be surrounded by a wide variety of restaurants from local plat de jour or tapas in the village, to more refined dining in Velluire, Bazoges en Pared and Fontenay Le Comte. There are many cafes and bars and all that goes in between....Vouvant nearby has something for everyone!
Local produce can be purchased direct from the farms or local shops - within a few minutes there is duck, chicken, honey, milk, cheese, apples, chocolate. The local butcher has a very good reputation. and of course local vineyards.
Activities
There are often festivals in Foussais from musical recitals and concerts in the church, to horse events and even the wood sculpting event using chainsaws, in July. The village Chocolaterie – offers workshops and where you can make your own chocolate!
La Loge is situated on a trail that takes you straight into the Mervent-Vouvant forest for you to enjoy Cycling/mountain biking trails or walking/hiking.
Locally you will find a wealth of activities to keep you busy.

Various water sports are offered in the local lakes and rivers or by the coast including, swimming, sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, punting around the ‘Green Venice’ of Marais Poitevan, from Coulon.
The Vendée coast and its amazing beaches are only an hour and 10minutes away.
Just 8 minutes away is the beautiful medieval village of Vouvant, with it’s well preserved ramparts. If you are feeling very brave – you could climb The Melusine Tower watching over the monastery and the church. There are many lovely villages and towns to visit with much history and beauty to be admired.
The nearest town is the beautiful old town of Fontenay-le-Comte, only 20 minutes away with many amenities.

A security deposit (for breakages) of Euros 200 will be paid by the Client, along with the balance of payment. The security
