The house

  • Quiet, rural area with some traffic

The house is our holiday family home and we love to ressource ourselves there. We made renovations and gave it a personal touch. The house is part of the historic castle from the village and oldest description date the oldest part of it from the 12th Century. It has a fantastic location as it is sitting on the top of the village hill, just next to the impressive Church and the house is detached. It benefits from a private mature and small garden and amazing views onto the village roofs and valley. Its authentic layout has been respected and it offers a living area with an open kitchen with splendid views. Three bedrooms and one family bathroom with large shower and bath. Built by local artisans using local stones Terracotta's. The village offers all amenities and has two bakeries, one large supermarket, cash points, petrol station, restaurants, bars, newsagent, local market, tourism information office, church, hairdresser, nurse, medical center, pharmacy, fire brigade, and police station....

It has an "untouched" feel with lots of locals living year round in Rians. There is a large selection of Wine producers in the area as the Coteaux du Var are famously know for their renowned Rosé. A selection of local restaurants and wine producers can be shared by the owner upon request.

Activities

Rians is located in between the Verdon region with its famous lake and cliffs (Nautical activities and trekking), Luberon region with its famous villages, markets and cultural sites, Pays d'Aix with historical buildings, museums and traditional markets, the green Var with its top hilled villages and laidback life style, and also reasonable distance from the cost with Marseilles and its calanques, Saint Tropez, Grimau, and Cassis...
There are many beautiful bicycle routes in the region.

Further remarks

The house has a unique location; on the top of the hill with panoramic view, next to the village's church; which is very active with mass, wedding and various religious celebrations. It has an organ also and the organ master comes to play on a weekly basis. Its bells plays every hour day and night all year round. Rians also counts numerous hunting families and their loved dogs. These can be active also during hunting seasons and when taken outside. The house is equipped with double glazed windows, and its thick walls prevent the house to be too warm over the hot summer period. We have installed fans in each room as we have not equipped the house with air condition. The house benefits from its private enclosed garden. It is a detached house.
