The house
Less than 400 kilometres from the Dutch border, near the pretty port town of Dieppe, in the hilly region of Normandy, lies Auberge du Vieux Puits.
The auberge, which dates from 1850, offers a magnificent view of the sea and the chalk cliffs. Just renovated, the auberge has all the modern comforts without losing the warmth and authentic atmosphere of rustic Normandy.
In addition to eight tastefully decorated guest rooms, there is a restaurant where local specialities are served, a large garden with a terrace from which you have a wonderful view of the sea. Feel especially at home in the Auberge, with us a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere comes first. You will not find the impersonality of a hotel, but the cosiness of a bed and breakfast.

On the chalk cliffs, near Dieppe, lies the beach village of Puys. Many famous (French) names have lived here, such as Alexandre Dumas, George Sand and Monet. Not so strange that these artists found their inspiration here. The sea and the skies change colour every day, the land with its hills full of apple trees and small rivers meandering through the landscape.
Puys has its own beach, with all facilities such as a shower and toilet. Besides sunbathing you can also search for mussels and shrimps. By bike, on foot and by car, the landscape offers a lot of variety. Add to that the picturesque coastal towns, such as Dieppe, Mers les Bains and Veules-les-Roses, but also Etretat and Honfleur are easily accessible from Puys. And for those who want to dive into history, it is almost literally visible and tangible what happened here through the centuries, not only the first and second world war have left their traces, it is not difficult to imagine how it was here in the time of the Romans and the Gauls.

Mooi uitzicht op zee kamer 3.
Bed was helaas matig, hoeslakens lieten steeds los en er zit een kuil in het midden, zijn 2 bedden bij elkaar geschoven.Koelkastje maakt herrie snachts.
Restaurants, food & wine
Our restaurant is listed in the Michelin guide and we are proud of it. We would like you to enjoy the culinary delights of the sea and the land. Normandy offers the best of the land and the best of the sea! The weekly Saturday market in Dieppe is known for its fresh fish, local meat and local fruits and vegetables. Of course, you can't leave without trying a dish of fruit de mer or a bowl of fresh oysters! And in the right season of course the scallops!
Activities
And there is always plenty to do in Puys and its surroundings. From brocante markets to buying vegetables from the gardens of Miromesnil Castle (26 Oct.), playing golf on the beautiful course of Dieppe - Pourville, the oldest golf course in France, a fair in Chateaux Museum or the time of the apple harvest for the Cider and Calvados in the autumn. In short: there is something for everyone.
