The house
The Chambre d'hôte (B&B) is on the estate of Hameau de Vacances les Bernardies, located on a hill in the Perigord Noir. It is a separate room in the cottage Lo Cretsou with its own entrance and private terrace. The total is a spacious luxury bedroom with bathroom (shower, washbasin, toilet, towel heater). The bedroom has 2 separate comfortable beds (2m by 90 cm), a desk with chair, a mini bar, a wardrobe, and a small table with a coffee and tea maker and supplies. The terrace has a bistro table and two chairs from which you can look out over the surrounding area. There are also two sun loungers.
Included in the price is a full breakfast. It is also possible in summer to join the communal meal on Sunday evening or the pizza evening on Friday. You have all facilities at les Bernardies at your disposal: courtyard with public Wifi, beautiful swimming pool (15mx6m, heated from 4 May to 20 September) with pool house (+Wifi), jeu-de-boule court, etc. Washing machine and dryer are available, to be used against separate payment.

Les Bernardies is a small old French hamlet (1700) situated around a manor house with courtyard accessible to guests. It is beautifully situated on a hill 13 km from the medieval town of Sarlat in a park-like setting with beautiful views over the countryside and forests. Each stone house is unique and decorated in its own style. and charm and the whole property is spacious with terraces facing south/southeast.
During your stay at les Bernardies you will enjoy your peace and privacy, but also have the opportunity to meet other guests in the courtyard, the swimming pool, in the workshop or in the bakery house. Every season is a different experience, during the holiday periods many families with children stay at Les Bernardies. Outside the school holidays, it is very quiet and peaceful. At the same time, it is in the middle of the Perigord Noir and close to the Lot with the most famous attractions and sights within 15 to 45 minutes' drive.

Le Perigord Noir is a region known to the French for its very good cuisine with dishes such as duck, game, foie gras, pommes sarlardaise, mushrooms, truffles. Besides regional cuisine, there is also a multitude of gourmet restaurants where you can have a very high quality meal for relatively little money.
As for wine, the Périgord Noir itself hardly has any viticulture: that takes place further south, Cahors (Malbec, but also increasingly Chardonnay and Chenon Blanc. 1-hour drive) or west, Bergerac ( Monbazzilac, Pecharmant, several white wines, 1.15-hour drive). Of course, those wines can all be bought and tasted nearby.

Very centrally located in the Perigord Noir and Lot: 15 minutes from Sarlat, 10 min from the Dordogne, within 30 minutes of the most famous castles/caves in the Dordogne (Lascaux), 1 hour from the wine region of Cahors (famous for its full-bodied red Malbec wines), 50 min from Rocamadoure / Padirac, 40 min from Collonges-la-Rouge / Brive.
It is one of the most beautiful and welcoming regions in France, known for its unspoilt environment, a changing landscape with small-scale agriculture and beautiful forests, rivers and streams, famous castles, historic villages with beautiful markets and well-tended gardens. It really is the ultimate holiday setting. And don't forget the excellent/famous menu of regional specialities: truffles, mushrooms, foie gras, duck, game, trout, strawberries, etc.

Further remarks
We are always happy to provide you with some tips / recommendations what to visit and where / what to eat and drink. Les Bernardies is perfectly located to visit the Perigord Noir (Sarlat Dordogne and Vezere valley), as well as the Lot and the western part of Correze. In our bakery/library we have several guides/leaflets of places to visit, in addition to books and board games. And when we look after our animals, you are welcome to watch or help.
