The house
This gîte is part of the old holiday colony that was located here. In 2012, the building was completely stripped and completely renovated into a new gîte with a view over the farmlands and the mountains. In an old village school located in the Montagne Bourbonnaise we started our chambre d'hôtes in 2007. You may know us and the accommodation from the TROS programme Ik Vertrek?
Our chambre d'hôtes has THREE comfortable and tastefully decorated rooms with of course a private bathroom. We also have a very spacious suite on the first floor with its own bathroom with shower, washbasin and bath. On our terrain we also have a mini-camping with 3 pitches and two gîtes for respectively 1-2 and 1-4 persons.
If this gîte is occupied,..... we also have a 2nd gîte on our property suitable for 2 persons: Gîte les Papillons (nr 5950) .
The washing machine and dryer are at your disposal in the chambres d'hôtes where you can also have dinner.

You have your own private spot near the cottage with a view of the mountains. In front of the cottage you have a second seat. Of course you can use all facilities in our house and garden. We have an extensive library, DVDs to watch in your cottage and the possibility to enjoy an extensive and special 4-course dinner with us. On our property you will find a wood-fired outdoor sauna and hot tub in addition to the swimming pool.

In our Chambre d'Hôtes we also offer table d'hôtes, which means a delicious and special 4-course dinner. Rudolf (in the role of chef de cuisine) prepares special and tasty dishes, where we also take into account what you don't like or can't eat. René (in his role of chef de table) takes care of the table decoration, which makes the dinners with us very cosy. We serve the local Côte Roannaise with dinner. Of course we are happy to give you addresses of winegrowers and caves in the area so that you can see the wine growing and bottling with your own eyes.
In the vicinity (between 20 and 30 minutes by car), you can find very nice restaurants, where you can have dinner or lunch at very attractive prices. Of course, you can also choose to spend 'a little' more money and dine at Le Troisgros in Roanne, which has three Michelin stars.
Activities
The surroundings, which are not very touristy yet, offer enough possibilities to entertain yourself for a longer period. You can get active by hiking in the area, clambering in the treetops at the Parc Aventure, making trips on a bicycle, taking mountain bike tours at La Loge des Gardes or cross-country skiing or skiing in winter.
You can also relax a bit with us or in the surrounding area. We have a swimming pool and a sunbathing area as well as a wood-fired outdoor sauna and hot tub. In the surroundings you can visit medieval villages, castles and for example the Romanesque church in the artists' village of Châtel Montagne. Walking around and shopping in Vichy, visiting the flea markets, museums and adventure/amusement parks in the area are also possible.

Further remarks
On our property we have besides the Gîte "l'Ancienne Infirmerie" also a chambre d'hôtes "Aire Les Biefs" for a total of 15 persons and a second gîte for 1-4 persons: Gîte "les Papillons". The latter is a new stone-built holiday home.

Wij zijn met z’n 4en 2 weken te gast geweest bij Rudolf en René in de gite. Het was er heerlijk. De gite had alles wat we nodig hadden. De gastheren waren erg vriendelijk, hadden tips voor uitstapjes in de omgeving, die erg mooi en leuk is. Het zwembad was lekker om af gekoelen in de hitte. Al met al een top adres. Wij hebben al een paar keer van hun gastvrijheid mogen genieten. Rijden hiervoor met plezier een stukje om. Als je daar binnenkomt valt de warmte als een deken over je heen. Wat te denken van de geweldig diners die wij daar hebben genuttigd, de kamers zijn geweldig, aan alle details is gedacht. Rudolf kan koken als de beste en René is als gastheer onovertrefbaar, als je ziet hoe de tafels gedekt worden. Ik kijk eigenlijk het hele jaar uit naar de overnachtingen bij hen. Stom eigenlijk dat ik hier zo'n goede referentie geef, straks is alles allemaal vol en kan ik er zelf niet meer terecht. Maar dat voorkom ik gewoon door heeeel vroeg te reserveren

Super overnachting gehad bij Rene en Rudolf! Leuk ontvangst, zalig gegeten (complimenten aan Rudolf!) en heerlijk geslapen. Onze 3 kids (15, 12 & 9) hebben zich prima vermaakt. Echt 'n aanraader en wij komen zeker nog 'n keertje terug!
