The house
Le Noyer (built in 2010) is a lovely holiday spot; the house has Starlink internet (WIFI).
Le Noyer has an official four-star seal of approval (clé's) from the French tourist organisation Clévacances.
Le Noyer is for rent per week (from Saturday to Saturday).
Available all year round, pleasantly cool in summer. In winter pleasantly warm thanks to a wood-burning stove and electric heating. The gutters are connected to an underground reservoir. An irrigation system automatically waters the trees and shrubs around the house.
The terrace garden (3600 m²) leads to the stream "the Sialle" with its waterfall, located right next to the house. An ideal sheltered place for paddling; it is a wonderful playground for children.

Villa "Le Noyer" ("The Walnut Tree") is suitable for max. 8 persons and is situated 300 metres from the medieval village Désaignes. In the heart of the village lies a castle. There are some shops (bakery, butcher, supermarket, tourist office, hotels, restaurant, café, bar tabac, a takeaway pizzeria and a garage/petrol station).
Le Noyer has a large terrace garden is ideal for e.g. two families with children, several couples, grandparents with children and grandchildren. There are two bathrooms with heating. The house is located in a protected nature reserve.
Along the house flows the stream 'La Sialle'. This flows into the river 'Le Doux'. This has a natural swimming spot in the village at a distance of 700 m. from our house.

Eind september waren wij met vrienden twee weken te gast in Désaignes, waar we vriendelijk ontvangen werden door Marc, de gastheer. Le Noyer is een prachtig ontworpen, comfortabel huis met veel faciliteiten. Genieten is het op het grote terras en in de tuin rondom het huis. Bij aankomst werden we verrast met twee heerlijke flessen wijn. Prettig zijn de goed uitgeruste, zeer ruime keuken en de extra bijkeuken. Fijn zijn de ruime slaapkamers met grote bedden en goede matrassen. De goed functionerende open haard maakte de avonden extra gezellig. Overdag hebben we vanuit huis veel mooie wandelingen kunnen maken, handig daarbij was het mapje met Nederlandse beschrijvingen. Vergeet niet in het dorp te gaan eten in de gastvrije herberg en in het geweldige vegetarische restaurant L’Âne Têtu. En voor een gemakkelijk avondje eten: bij de pizzeria worden heerlijke pizza’s gebakken.
Via de mooie brochure waren we voorbereid op onze vakantie in Le Noyer. Het werkelijke verblijf daar en in de prachtige omgeving valt echter niet in woorden en foto’s te vangen, dat moet je gaan beleven. We komen heel graag terug.Mary from Milsbeek,
Na alle corona perikelen, was het nog wel even spannend of onze vakantie wel door zou gaan. (Overigens prima gecommuniceerd met Hedzer wat te doen bij negatief reisadvies).
Maar uiteindelijk hebben we een onvergetelijke tijd gehad in dit prachtige huis. Met ons tweeën meer dan ruimte genoeg in dit zeer ruime familiehuis. Elke avond buiten kunnen eten dankzij het prachtige na-zomer weer en de beschutting van het overdekte terras. De omgeving biedt meer dan genoeg ontspanningsmogelijkheden. Volop gewandeld in de directe omgeving en ook wat verder weg (Mont Mezenc, aanrader!), grotten bezocht wat verder in de Ardeche maar vooral genoten van een idyllische omgeving, goede locale producten en vooral heel veel rust.

La maison est absolument conforme au descriptif, le poêle chauffe parfaitement la maison. Tout c'est très bien passé. Très bon contact avec le propriétaire. Le terrain est agréable et la cascade très belle. Nous connaissons le village y ayant de la famille. Nous apprécions son bourg classé; les cours d'eau et les forêts environnantes.

Restaurants, food & wine
In Désaignes and Lamastre there are several farms where local specialities are produced. There are also a number of artists, who open their studios to visitors. Info at the local tourist offices in Désaignes and Lamastre.
Many restaurants in the area offer excellent food in beautiful locations with a choice of local dishes. A three-course menu costs between 12 and 16 euros. In Désaignes there is a vegan restaurant (L'Âne Têtu) with products from the village and the region.
Activities
In the surroundings of Désaignes and Lamastre there is a varied offer of markets (wo brocantes), concerts, exhibitions and festivals throughout the year. Tenants receive a link to a personal website with local information about markets and restaurants.
Swimming:
In Désaignes in the river 'Le Doux' there is a beautiful swimming spot (plan d'eau) with beach where you can swim, fish and build dams. There is a lifeguard in July and August. Also at Lamastre (near campsite Le Retourtour) and in Labatie-d'Andaure is such a picturesque swimming spot. In the Valley of Eyrieux (between Lamastre and Le Cheylard) there is a large open-air swimming pool with a slide and terraces.
Walking:
From Désaignes you can choose from several marked walking routes through unspoilt nature. In our house you will find a Dutch booklet with walking routes. Every year at the end of April / beginning of May "Le Trail" takes place from Désaignes. It is a big running event with more than 1,200 participants. Beautiful walks are possible on and around the 'Mézenc' near St. Agrève.
Cycling:
The area around Désaignes is very popular with cycling enthusiasts. There are cycling routes available through the tourist office. Every year the four-day cycling event L'Ardéchoise takes place. Every village along the route is decorated. From Lamastre to Le Cheylard, a unique cycling route has been built over a former railway line. Between Lamastre and Le Cheylard a beautiful cycling and walking route runs over a former railway line.
In Désaignes on the camping site and at Intersport in Saint Agrève mountain bikes can be hired.
Horseback riding:
Between Désaignes and Lamastre there is a castle 'Le Vergier' with a riding school. Beautiful rides on horseback are also possible at riding school 'Ferme de Vovady' in Montregard.
Climbing park:
In the squirrel forest La Riaille Noire near Le Chambon sur Lignon, there is a climbing park with courses at various levels, from easy to tough.
Golfing:
30 km away at Le Chambon sur Lignon is one of the most beautiful golf courses with views of the Massif Central.
Skiing:
Ski area Les Étables - Mont Mézenc (1745 m), 45 km from Désaignes.

Further remarks
In 2007, we found a plot of building land on the edge of the village of Désaignes and decided to build a house with local entrepreneurs. We named it 'Le Noyer' (the walnut tree), named after the walnut orchard next to the house. My son and I take care of the rentals.
Dutch architect Ronald In 't Hout, who lives and works in the Ardèche, designed it. The house has traditional Ardèchoise architecture combined with modern open and spatial elements. This interplay between open and closed has been implemented throughout the house. Construction went smoothly and in a pleasant atmosphere. The opening took place in summer 2010.
The house was built of ecologically produced materials (so-called Ytong cellular concrete) and has excellent insulation. The house and the living room windows are designed to minimise sunlight in summer and maximise sunshine in winter. The house is wonderfully cool in summer and pleasantly warm in winter. The house is heated with a wood-burning stove and electric radiators (in the living room, kitchen and both bathrooms).

The rental does not include:
Compulsory final cleaning of €150.00.
Tourist tax: all year € 1.20 per person from 18 years, per night
A deposit of € 300.00. This deposit will be refunded no later than 14 days after the end of the rental period in the event of no damage, theft or unauthorised use as described in the general terms and conditions.
Down payment
The rental is established by means of a rental contract with general terms and conditions. The General Terms and Conditions can be found on our website. After receipt of the signed rental contract and the down payment of 30% of the total rental sum, the reservation is final. No later than 6 weeks before the arrival date, the full rental sum must be paid. Reservations made less than 6 weeks before the arrival date must be paid in full immediately.
