The house
The gite "la Porcherie" is located on the grounds of la ferme Boulade, an old farm already described in the Napoleonic era.
The Porcherie, as the name suggests, is a former pigsty converted into a cosy Gite for up to 4 people and divided into a living room/kitchen and bed box and a spacious bathroom.

Cosy sitting area with wood stove, dining table with 4 chairs and 2 easy chairs next to the wood stove.
Kitchen
Electric cooker, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, coffee machine, kettle, kitchen utensils etc.
Bedstead
Can be closed by doors.
2 person mattress of 2.00 meters by 1.60 meters. On arrival made up with beautiful bed linen.
Above the box bed is still sleeping space for 2 people.
Hanging and laying space available.
Games, reading materials and information about the area are available and in the farmhouse there are also books to read.
Bathroom
Spacious shower, separate toilet and large sink with 2 sinks.
Covered terrace
With cosy table and chairs.
There are sun loungers in the garden where you can enjoy the sun and shade.
A barbecue and fire basket ensure that you can enjoy long summer evenings.
From the terrace you have a beautiful view over the valley to the mountains where evening game is often seen, such as deer, foxes, wild boars and badgers.

De Porcherie is located in the middle of the nature park Livradois/Forez where nature is very diverse: mountains, hills, beautiful views, rivers and of course not forgetting the volcanoes with a view of the Puy de Dome.
In the area you will also find many typical French villages with beautiful castles, charming churches, chapels and monasteries but also the old cultural heritage such as bread ovens, washing places and fountains.
The nearest neighbours live at 800 metres; you will only hear the sound of the birds and the water of our own water source and in the evening you will of course hear the crickets.
In a radius of 6 km are the villages where you can do all your daily shopping:
bakers, butchers and the supermarket. There are also restaurants where you can eat well and cheap.
For a plat de jour, 4 courses and a carafe of wine for about 13.00 euros.
Excellent hearty food from the Auvergne, all home made.
Nearby are also large cities that are very worthwhile: Lyon, Clermont Ferrand and Vichy.

Deze streek is al ruim twaalf jaar onze vaste vakantiebestemming. Na het wegvallen van ‘ons’ vakantiehuisje moesten we op zoek naar een nieuw thuis in de Auvergne. Dat was vroeger een combinatie tussen huis, plek en de mensen eromheen, en dat vonden we opnieuw in de porcherie, het uitzicht, de prachtige tuin, de dames Mona en Lisa (kippetjes) en zeker onze lieve gastvrouw Annie. De gite is compleet, gezellig en met liefde ingericht. Klein maar zeer vernuftig ingedeeld, met als topstuk de bedstee waarin de meest verrassende opbergmogelijkheden verwerkt zijn. De badkamer is ruim en comfortabel en voorzien van meer dan voldoende vrolijk gekleurde badhanddoeken. Ook keukenlinnen is ruim voldoende aanwezig. Alles straalt een warm welkom uit. Het overdekte terras is een eyecatcher in de presentatie en dat is ter plaatse nog mooier! Kortom, toplocatie voor een heerlijke vakantie waar je kunt rusten, genieten en volop gelegenheid is voor uitstapjes naar dorpen, steden, leuke restaurantjes en markten. Wat een plek! Op de foto's zie je het al maar in het echt is het nog veel mooier! De porcherie is heerlijk. Alles wat je nodig hebt zit erin. Maar vooral de plek is ultiem. De rust, het uitzicht, echt geweldig. Annie is een super gastvrouw die er voor zorgt dat het je aan niets ontbreekt. Het kan niet anders dat je heimwee krijgt als je weer thuis bent.

Le porcherie is een knusse gîte met een prachtig terras waar je kunt genieten van de stilte en de natuur. De eigenaresse is gastvrij en hartelijk.
We hebben genoten van dit mooie stukje Frankrijk.
Restaurants, food & wine
The Auvergne is known for its hearty farmer's food. It used to be hard work and the winters can be quite cold.
Products like game, poultry, mushrooms (cepes) and of course cheese.
Cheese factories can often be visited and of course you can taste and buy them. The green lentils ( de Puy ) are famous.
At the small markets, farmers sell their own products such as cheese, honey, sausages, plants, etc.
Activities
What is there to do?
There are many activities in the surroundings of the Porcherie.
Walking and mountain biking; directly from the Gite there is a walking and mountain biking route.
Cycling, swimming in several beautiful quiet lakes or outdoor swimming pool at 6-10 km, fishing (only with license) or in a trout pond.
Canoeing on the Allier (at approx. 60 km ).
Golf in Clermont Ferrand and Roanne.
In summer classical concerts in the churches with their beautiful acoustics or various concerts in the salle de fete.
On Sundays there is always a flea market and/or vide de greniers in the direct surroundings.

Further remarks
The rental week is from Saturday to Saturday. Arrival Saturday afternoon from 3pm. Departure Saturday morning no later than 10 am.
When renting the gite from 1 week, we require a deposit of € 150.00 when booking. The remaining amount can be paid on the spot.

Price is €450.00 per week based on 2 persons.
For subsequent persons €30.00 euro p.p per week extra.
Arrival: after 15 hours
We do not rent between mid-November and the end of March.
