The house
La Buissonniere is a ground floor gite which can sleep 4 people in 1 double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom . The homely, cosy property is tranquil and relaxing, surrounded by woods and fields just south of Mortain, We have chickens, cats and sheep (but because of our livestock we are sorry but we cannot accept pets). There is an open plan kitchen/diner/ lounge, and a shower room and as there are no stairs to climb up or fall down it is ideal for the young and not so young alike! The property is suitable for those with limited mobility, but the structure is not suitable for wheelchairs sadly
Free WiFi is provided and all heating, towels and bed linen are included in the rental fee. Each bedroom has drawers, clothes hanging facilities and bedside tables, and a hair dryer is also provided. The fully tiled shower room, which has a W.C, washbasin and corner opening shower cubicle (with one step up), is easily accessible from both bedrooms.
Fully equipped kitchen with a full size gas cooker, hob, washing machine, microwave, coffee machine, kettle, toaster and all cooking utensils, pans and crockery. The dining area seats four (plus high chair which we can also provide at no extra cost).
The spacious, beamed lounge is adjacent to the kitchen and dining room, with a large 3 seater sofa and 2 armchairs. 40" widescreen television complete with FreeSat, DVD player, and a small library of books. An electric stove in the hearth, and electric radiators in each room.
All of our nearest towns have weekly markets, and there are many brocantes in the area. La Buissonniere is well placed for visiting the Normandy Landing Beaches of D-Day, the American Military cemetery, the British Military cemetery, the Bayeux Tapestry, the awesome Mont Saint Michel and the fab west coast beaches, the stunning medieval towns of Fougeres, Falaise ...... the list is endless! There are also many activities, adventure parks and zoos in the area for children so they will never get bored.

La Buissonniere is located in in 3 hectares of rural land at the end of a lane which has no passing traffic,and is very safe for children to play in our grounds. We are surrounded by the beautiful, blissfully tranquil, Normandy countryside which is perfect for unwinding and restoring your soul after hectic 9 - 5 living. We have sheep in the paddock, and our two black cats and cheeky free ranging chicken will always stop by to say hello. The only thing likely to disturb you on lazy summer days is the gentle blur of buzzards, woodpeckers and perhaps the occasional Swallowtail butterfly. The back garden of our gite provides you with your own private decking area complete with tables and chairs, sun loungers and a BBQ. and there is also a swing and slide combination for the children so that they can enjoy themselves close by while you sit in the sun with a good book and a glass of locally produced sparkling cider. To the front of the gite there is a large communal lawn - ideal for badminton, swing ball, cricket, Frisbee and football, which are all provided. Oh, and if you like painting - well, I'm sure that can be arranged too!
There is something for everyone who stays at La Buissonniere, which is well placed for visiting a wide array of attractions in this particular area of Normandy. The UNESCO heritage site of awesome Mont. St. Michel, the stunning beaches in the Baie du Mont. St. Michel, the Normandy Landing Beaches of WW2 and their military cemeteries, historic towns (such as Fougerès, Domfront, Falaise, Mayenne, Laval, Mortain, Bagnoles de l'Orne, Alençon, Bayeux, Avranches, Granville ) theme parks and zoos for the children, hiking and cycling trails, nostalgic brocantes full of vintage yesteryear .... all are within easy reach. Some of our guests have even visited Disneyland Paris while staying at La Buissonniere. It's perfectly do-able but you just need to get up a little bit earlier!

Wij waren positief verrast door Normandië en La Buissonnière! Nog nooit geweest, en geen idee wat we zouden aantreffen. Het landschap is allesbehalve vlak, dus zeer geschikt voor uitdagende fietstochten. We hadden onze racefietsen mee. Het huisje is echt van alle gemakken voorzien. Goed en ergonomisch ingericht. Met wasmachine, wat heel prettig is. Het huisje ligt aan een doodlopende weg, dus rustig en veel privacy. Goede supermarkt op +/- 4 km. Mont St. Michel is goed aan te rijden, en een aanrader, tenzij je niet van drukte houdt. Kom vroeg! Ook Fougères en Laval zijn steden die je prima kunt bezoeken en die de moeite waard zijn.
Supervriendelijke eigenaren, die in het andere deel van het huis wonen, maar waar je geen ‘last’ van hebt. Ze stonden open voor vragen en tips. Op het terrein wonen twee katten: Gromit en Wallace, die ons vooral erg aardig vonden als we gingen borrelen. Maar ze bleven lekker bij ons liggen, ook als ze niks kregen :-) Ook de kipjes kwamen af en toe vrolijk buurten.

Wij zijn afgelopen zomer 2 weken in deze schitterende gite geweest.
Een schitterend huis met mooie natuur, beesten, rust ! Gewoon wow !
Heerlijk ontspannen in de rust en daarnaast een plek om vele mooie plekken te kunnen bezoeken.De eigenaren zijn super vriendelijk, hebben goede tips en adviezen en je ontvangt heerlijke eieren van de kippen op het erf!
Een echte aanrader, wij komen hier graag nog een keer terug !!!

Restaurants, food & wine
La Buissonniere is located between Mortain, (11kms to the north), St. Hilaire du Harcouet (15kms to the west) and Domfront (12kms to the east) All have a variety of bars and restaurants open lunchtimes and evenings, as do our nearest villages of Le Teilleul and Barenton, which are just a 5 minute drive away. The villages have a choice of boulangeries, boucheries, and very well stocked mini supermarkets, so you'll never need to go hungry! There are also several cider producers in the area who offer, by prior arrangement, degustations of their delicious cider, poiré (pear cider) and Calvados (apple brandy).

La Buissonniere is perfect for families, couples, children, bikers, cyclists ........ just about everyone really!
For bikers, we can provide covered storage for your motorbikes if you require it, and we will also get your shopping in prior to your arrival if you email us your starter shopping list before hand! We'll present you with your shopping bill when you arrive, payable in cash.
