The house
Bright and spacious sitting room with front and back doors. There are two sofas providing seating for 6 people and the room has a TV/DVD player and UK freeview box. There is also a mini multi games table, pack of cards and books for indoor entertainment. There is a wood burning stove for the cooler months. Stairs lead up to the mezzanine level which has two single beds. The twin room is to the rear of the sitting room accessed by a hallway. The kitchen leads off the sitting room and is very well equipped with fridge/freezer, microwave, hob & oven and comfortable seating for 6 people. There is a further double bedroom with window to the front of the gite. The bathroom and toilet are separate. The bathroom has a power shower and a Jacuzzi bath. Each bedroom/sleeping area has a wardrobe and chest of drawers.

Genneton is located in the north of Deux Sevres. Its nearest town is Argenton les Vallees (8km) with the larger towns of Vihiers, Thouars & Bressuire all within 20 minute drive.
It is located equidistant from Poitiers (east) and Nantes (west) which both have international airports. For rail travel, Angers (40 minute drive north) has TGV connections to Paris (1.5 hrs into Paris/Paris Disney).
From the ferry ports of Caen it is a 4hr drive to Genneton (non toll road). Le Havre/Dieppe are just slightly longer. From Calais allow yourself 6 hours for the journey by car.

Restaurants, food & wine
There are lots of restaurants in small villages/towns in the surrounding countryside. The larger supermarkets have restaurants where you can find an excellent plat du jour at lunchtime for a very reasonable price. There is a lovely restaurant just 5km away in the next village and a larger restaurant which is open for both lunchtime and dinner in Argenton les Valless (le lac, situated by the lake/river in the town, where you can enjoy pedalos in the summer). Genneton has a bar/café open 6 days a week where you can drop in for a refreshment and also get fresh bread. It also has a small epicerie (milk, tinned goods etc). The bar/café is very much the social centre of the village and hosts monthly fish and chip evenings and other planned events.
Activities
Genneton is a small rural village perfectly located for a quiet relaxing holiday visiting the surrounding Anjou vineyards whilst central to key attractions of Puy du Fou, Futuroscope (Poitiers), BioPark (Doue la Fontaine), Terra Bontanica (Angers) & Saumur Chateau/River trips. The town of Bressuire (20km) has golf course, indoor bowling and a bi-annual Highland games as well as many other themed events at it's chateau. Thouars (20km) has a medieval centre and museum dedicated to the French Resistance. Both Bressuire and Thouars have brilliant indoor swimming pools / aquatic centres, In 2017 an outdoor lake and picnic area with childrens activities opened in Neuil les Aubiers (17km).
There is an equestrian centre just outside the village and the International Karting Centre is just a 5 minute drive away. It has an extensive outdoor track where you can pit your driving skills against the current record holder (Lewis Hamilton!).
