The Dordogne is home to over 1001 châteaux’s and we are close to many of the large and most beautiful ones such as Domme, Castlenaud, Milandes and Beynac.
This area also boasts some truly magnificent gardens and ‘Les Jardins d'Eryignac’ are 15 minutes from us, about ½ an hour away are award winning ‘Les jardins de l'imaginaire’ in Terrasson. Other gardens in the region include Les jardins d'eau, Carsac, Le Clos des Sources, Marqueyssac gardens.
The Dordogne is also homes to literally hundreds of caves of which most are open to the public. Probably the most famous are the Lascaux caves in Montignac (30 mins from us) meticulously recreated from the original Lascaux 4 is a must see, but there are many others all within easy reach of La Salamonie.
There are a section of restaurants within 20 mins from our village as well as a huge choice of places to eat in nearby Sarlat. You will find all the local specialties including foie gras, magret de canard and walnut cake.
