The house

Idyllically situated cottage just below the city wall of the bastide Domme with within walking distance Domme itself and the village Cenac with all amenities such as: supermarket, butcher, bakery, post office, restaurants etc.
The house dates from around 1890 and is typical of the region. It resembles a cottage and is built like a dike house along a rock and thus has 3 levels. The attic entrance is on the road and a wide staircase outside takes you down to the front door. On this floor are the living room and kitchen. One floor below are the bedroom, bathroom and toilet. These two floors are connected by stairs both inside and outside. In the attic there is a third bedroom with two single beds and a loft with two single beds plus a small bathroom with toilet and washbasin. The attic is not accessible from inside but only via the outside stairs.
The garden is also on 3 levels and there is a covered terrace and a separate terrace under the walnut tree with dining table. The garden with fantastic views faces
south and has plenty of sun and shade spots. There is also a large set-up pool in the garden.

La Pie au Nid is situated in the Périgord Noir region, a part of the Dordogne department, near the towns of Domme, Cénac, Daglan and Castelnaud. Noir refers to the numerous forests that used to cover this area. Nowadays, the Périgord Noir is still characterised by unspoiled, hilly nature areas with magnificent views. Archaeologists think that this area has been inhabited continuously for tens of thousands of years. This is longer than anywhere else in Europe. Besides this, this region is also known for its many castles, rivers and streams, gardens, bastides, caves, medieval cities, markets and flea markets and of course not to forget the truffles, walnuts and foie gras pâté. It is a region where both young and old will certainly not be bored. Also in the field of sports, there is plenty to do.

Restaurants, food & wine
Within walking distance, you will find a number of excellent restaurants. Furthermore, during the high season almost every village organises a wine and food evening. Bring your own plate and glass (or rent one locally), walk along the many stalls and buy some food and drink and then sit down next to the French on the long rows of benches and tables.
At 60km is the city of Bergerac with its many famous wines (e.g. Monbazillac, Pécharmant and Montravel) and wine houses where you can often taste and buy wine.
By the way, Domme has its own wine: "Vin de Domme".
This region is known for its truffles, walnuts, fois gras (goose liver) and cèpes (cep).
