The house

The gîte was originally a barn with space downstairs for livestock and agricultural tools and upstairs storage for hay and space for drying tobacco and walnuts. Together with our house, the gîte stands on 1.25 hectares of land, mainly pasture. The residential house is located about 40 m from the gîte.
The layout:
Ground floor: entrance, kitchen, dining/sitting room, shower/toilet.
First floor: landing, 2 bedrooms and 2x shower/toilet.
Part of the ground floor is workshop. Here you will find washing machine and dryer.
In the living room you will find the dining table and a sitting area. Next is a covered terrace at the back with a wide view. The kitchen has 2 electric hotplates, an oven, microwave, kettle and fridge.
Both spacious bedrooms (each approx. 20 m2) have 2 single beds, a seating area and a private shower/toilet.
All rooms can be conveniently heated with electric radiators; there is also a wood-burning stove in the sitting room.
Washer/dryer available for a small fee.
Pets are welcome. The grounds are not fenced.

The gîte is situated at the edge of the village Florimont-Gaumier, south Dordogne, with about 35 inhabitants.
At 2 km distance there is a freely accessible watchtower, with opposite La Terrasse de Moncalou, a simple restaurant of the Dutch owner Sander Bremmer.
At 3 km distance lies Salviac, with all amenities (bakery, butcher, supermarket, bank, pharmacy, doctor) and 2 restaurants.
At about 7 kilometres distance lies Cazals with a bit more facilities and a cosy farmers market on Sundays all year round. In the summer there is also good swimming in the "Plan d'Eau" with lifeguard, spacious lawns, beach and snack bar.
In Gourdon at 15 km (with train station on the line Paris - Toulouse) are the larger supermarkets Intermarché, Carrefour, Casino, Lidl, Aldi.

Een mooie gite, met zorg ingericht en van alle gemakken voorzien. De slaapkamers zijn ruim, gezellig ingericht en met prachtig uitzicht. En natuurlijk fijne gastheren!

Wij hebben een heerlijke tijd gehad in deze gite. We hebben genoten van het fijne terras met heerlijk uitzicht op de glooiende tuin en heuvels. Twee riante slaapkamers met elk een eigen badkamer en een gezellig ingerichte woonkamer en keuken maakten het verblijf zo aangenaam. En dan het warme welkom door Gerhard en Aruba Jan niet te vergeten! Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien: opgemaakte bedden en handdoeken, maar ook spelletjes en heel veel boeken. Het huisje ligt in een mooi verzorgd en rustig dorpje. Zoek je vertier, dan is dat in de nabije omgeving te vinden, maar het was elke dag weer fijn om op deze rustig plek 'thuis' te komen. Gerhard en AJ, heel veel dank voor de goede zorgen!

Prachtige omgeving met veel leuke dingen te doen, ook dankzij de leuke tips vd eigenaren. Echt de moeite waard!!
Restaurants, food & wine
At 2 km distance, right next to restaurant La Terrasse, is the Chai de Moncalou, where the Vin de Domme is made. You can taste and buy wine there. There is also a small exhibition on the history of grape growing in the region.

Walking, cycling, horse-riding, golf, ballooning. Swimming in lakes ("Plan d'Eaux") or in the Dordogne. In Salviac there is a new (outdoor) swimming pool, opened in 2018.
Visiting castles, bastides, antique and flea markets ("vide grenier"), caves.
In a radius of 60 km you will find many medieval towns and villages, such as Sarlat, Cahors, Bergerac, Domme, Monpazier, Villeréal, La Roque-Gageac. In Les Arques you will find the Zadkine museum. Ossip Zadkine is best known for his statue "The destroyed city" in Rotterdam.

Prices are all in, i.e. including bed linen, towels, kitchen linen, final cleaning, use of wifi and any heating costs.
The price per week is between €525 and €700, depending on the season. If you move the cursor over the calendar you will see the current prices. In principle, in high season Friday is the changeover day. If this does not suit you, please contact us. Outside high season also available for shorter rental periods. See below for prices per day.
