The house
In a beautiful spot with lovely views lies this renovated stone house. The house is very spacious in terms of layout and surface area.
On the ground floor is the living room with sitting area with satellite TV with Dutch channels. Internet is available.
Next to this living room, in open connection but separated by authentic cow partitions, is a large living room with open kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with all necessities such as microwave, kettle, filter coffee machine and Senseo coffee machine and fridge with large freezer compartment. From the large kitchen/living room you have a beautiful view over the sheep pasture.
On the ground floor is the bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet. A washing machine, ironing board and iron are available.
On the upper floor there are two bedrooms on one side of the house. These two rooms are separated by a high wall but are in open communication with each other. Given the layout of these bedrooms, it is suitable for two adults and two younger children. The interior size of the double bed is 162 x 203 cm. There are also two children's beds. For older children, there is a separate bedroom on the other side of the upper floor with two beds. Experience shows that, given several small stairs, the house is not suitable for crawling children and children up to 5 years of age.
The location of the house and the views are beautiful. There are several seating areas in sun and shade and everywhere you look out over a beautiful rolling valley. There is a 6 x 4 m private swimming pool. Surrounding the house is a large garden of about 50 by 100 metres, suitable for playing football and badminton etc. There is a small detached BBQ; No open fires are allowed on the property.
The garden borders rolling meadows with nut trees and a footpath leading to the forest. As the house is in the middle of nature, we use ecological cleaning products, waste separation (plastic, glass, paper) and a fosse-septique. A natural environment does not only mean that you may see birds of prey or a squirrel, but also that you may encounter small spiders, cobwebs and insects such as bees, wasps.
Above the rental property is the home of the Dutch owner. The upstairs flat is not inhabited.
The house is suitable for bringing a dog(s) because of the many walking possibilities and the location of the grounds. The grounds are not fenced. There are well-marked regional walking routes in the area.

The house is located in a hamlet with five houses. It is very quiet here and you can enjoy beautiful views of the surroundings on all sides. The house is about 6 km from Belves, a village in the heart of the Perigord Noir. All sights and towns such as Sarlat, Monpazier and Villefranche are very easy to reach. Shops, a pleasant Saturday market, post office, pharmacy, doctor's surgery and restaurants can be reached within 10 minutes by car.
Reach by public transport:
By train via Eurostar, TGV and Regionale, you can reach Bergerac from Rotterdam Central Station in 8 hours. From Amsterdam Central Station, you are about 9 hours away. See NS International. Bergerac is 60 kilometres from the house.
By plane: Transavia has flights Rotterdam-Bergerac three times a week. In the town of Bergerac and at Bergerac airport there are several large car rental companies (Hertz, Europcar) where you can rent a car for your stay. You can also book a car from the Netherlands here. Ideal for people without a car!

The Dordogne is known for its wines such as Bergerac and Monbazillac and its delicious food with locally produced products such as foie gras, truffles, nuts and mushrooms. There are many good and affordable restaurants in the area. There is a wide range of organic produce and organic markets and restaurants.
Activities
You can make beautiful cycling trips in the area and there are many hiking trails. In the immediate vicinity are two golf courses (9 and 18 holes) and several tennis courts. Mountain biking, horse riding and flying and gliding are also practiced in the area. The Dordogne River is about 15 km away and is excellent for canoeing, fishing and swimming.
Of course, you can also visit one of the many castles, prehistoric caves and beautiful gardens in the area.

We hebben met onze 2 honden een heerlijke relaxte vakantie gehad in la garde, echt een aanrader voor mensen die van de natuur, rust en stilte houden. We hebben heel veel gewandeld en genoten van de natuur, maar ook heel dicht bij allerlei leuke stadjes en Marktjes, De tuin was ook heerlijk en genoten van het zwembad, elke dag even gezwommen, het huis is ook heerlijk, voelde ons er gelijk thuis, gezellige keuken en woonkamer, heel veel ruimte, voor de honden was het ook echt vakantie. De eigenaresse een hele bescheiden en vriendelijke mevrouw, voor herhaling vatbaar

Genoten van de prachtige gite die duidelijk met zeer veel zorg en oog voor detail ingericht is. Een veraderming in vergelijk met vakantiepark huisjes. Deze gite heeft karakter! Het erf met de verschillende zitjes is heerlijk en het uitzicht adembenemend. Het was dit jaar in Frankrijk on-Frans weer in de zomermaand juli maar dit heeft ons geen moment in de weg gezeten. Indrukwekkende omgeving met zeer veel mooie vesting stadjes, grotten, bossen, de Dordogne natuurlijk wat het landschap continue afwisselend maakt. Vriendelijke mensen in de region en zeer bescheiden vriendelijke gastvrouw. Aanrader voor rust/ natuur en cultuur liefhebbers!!!

’s Morgens wanneer de nevel in het dal hangt en langzaam de zon z’n weg daar doorheen vindt, en vogels voorzichtig beginnen te fluiten. Die rust en die schoonheid is voor mij Lagarde. De wandelingen die ik door die dalen en heuvels maak en daar weer geniet van de vergezichten en de notenbomen, planten en bloemen langs de paden is eveneens genieten, vooral als die wandelingen eindigen op het terras bij het huis in Lagarde of in Belves op het marktplein. Lagarde is écht genieten.
