The house
VilLa Douze is located in the middle of the Dordogne on a wooded hill, offers privacy, is nice and spacious and very suitable for several guests!
The kitchen has a cooking island with 8 hobs, an oven, a dishwasher, 2 sinks, 2 coffee makers and 2 fridges. Next to the open kitchen is a large dining table for cosy dining inside. In this room, a large play corner has been created, full of games and puzzles for young and old.
The television/lounge area is next to the dining and play area and is separated by a glass wall, making the house look like one big unit, yet cosy.
There are five bedrooms in total, three rooms with double beds and two rooms with single beds that can also be used as double beds. Each room has a washbasin with mirror (hot and cold water) and heating. All rooms have views of the natural beauty of the Dordogne. The villa has 3 bathrooms (3 showers, 1 bath, 1 bidet) and 3 toilets. There is also a separate laundry room with a washing machine.
The villa overlooks the swimming pool, which is surrounded by atmospheric lighting in the evening. The heated pool slopes on one side, allowing children to stand here. The pool is equipped with the French mandatory alarm system. On the large terrace around the house and pool there are sun loungers and parasols. Attached to the house is a partly wind-free canopy, where the large fireplace with robust wooden tables and chairs are. The outdoor fireplace serves as an excellent barbecue!
Besides the facilities mentioned above, there is also a table tennis table, Dutch radio & television (satellite dish) and WIFI internet.

In the heart of the Dordogne, southeast of the city Périgueux, lies the lovely village La Douze. From the beautiful robust church a winding road leads you through a hilly landscape to VilLa Douze.
This place allows you to fully enjoy the charm of the Dordogne, such as the vast undulating landscapes covered with green forests, wonderful silences accompanied by the sound of crickets, buzzards and owls. Definitely unforgettable are the pitch-black starry nights!

Restaurants, food & wine
Because the kitchen is so extensive, it is a joy to cook! Every dish can be made here and inspiration is bound to be found during the holidays. There are even recipes of local dishes in the villa ready to be prepared! Groceries for the recipe can be bought in the village, at a local farmer or in the local shops. A vin rouge is sure to be a delicious accompaniment...!
In the village there are also several nice restaurants and a little further on there is even a starred restaurant.
Activities
There is plenty to do in the vicinity of the villa. Besides exploring cosy markets, you can also take the kids on a canopy tour, where you walk high between the treetops. The Dordogne and Vézère rivers are perfect for an active day of canoeing or kayaking, but also for lazing around and swimming.
Golfers can be on the golf course in less than 10 minutes.
There are also plenty of caves where you can delve into the history of the ancient Neanderthals, the Cromagnon people or stalactites.
For children, there is also a very nice amusement park nearby. Speed freaks can race each other on the kart track of La Douze, and to admire exotic animals you can go to the aquarium of Le Bugue. In case of bad weather, you can also go laser-gaming nearby.
If you want to broaden your wine knowledge or just see where all those Bordeaux wines on the Dutch shelves come from, you can tour the Médoc region, where you can literally get lost in the vast vineyards.
Tourist towns such as Sarlat or Périgueux are very beautiful and pleasant to stroll around. Would you like to visit some quieter "of the track" places, then we certainly have some tips!

Een vakantie in La Douze is top! Wij hebben genoten van het ruime huis en het grote zwembad dat 's avonds feeëriek verlicht is. De omgeving is heel rustig, je hoort er alleen de geitjes, en de kinderen kunnen er zoveel ravotten als ze willen zonder dat er ergens gevaar dreigt. De jongens kunnen er voetballen op een grasveldje in de buurt en zelfs een match spelen met de buurjongens. Wij vonden het ook superleuk om rondgeleid te worden op de boerderij van Laura, Menno en Louis (hun zelfgemaakte kaas is heerlijk!). De kinderen mochten de geitjes knuffelen en zelfs melken! In de omgeving zijn er mogelijkheden zat om uitstapjes te maken. Een aanrader!

Wat een heerlijke week hebben wij weer achter de rug in villa La Douze. Prachtig huis, van alle gemakken voorzien en natuurlijk het heerlijke zwembad. Laura en Menno, echt twee schatjes, die altijd voor je klaar staan. Ons zie je hier zeker nog een keer terug, bedankt voor alles, groetjes Frans, Bertine en Nikki.
