The house
Recently refurbished, modern appliances and new furnishings complement the many original features the building offers and create a comfortable space for up to 6 people.
Appearances can be deceptive. Although the cottage looks small from the outside, inside it offers three bedrooms (two doubles and one twin), a large bathroom, comfortable lounge and a spacious dining kitchen. There is a first floor veranda which provides a great view of the large garden and the fields beyond, and a small patio area - both are perfect for that pre-dinner aperitif and alfresco eating. Guests also have use of the riverside garden.
The cottage was renovated in 2017, including installing a new kitchen and bathroom and replacing most of the furniture including the beds. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans and crockery, plus a cooker with a hob, grill and oven, fridge/freezer, kettle and toaster.

Activities
This is a place that allows you to get away from the hustle and bustle. Explore the nearby villages, chateaux and farmers markets; savour the best of the local wine, cognac and cheese producers; or simply relax with a book by the river.
Our part of the Dordogne is very peaceful and quiet so is perfect for relaxing breaks. We are surrounded by agricultural land, and for as far as the eye can see there are fields of sunflowers and maize, and rolling hills. This attracts a lot of wildlife, including deer, boar, birds of prey and some very beautiful butterflies and dragonflies. There is no shortage of things to do nearby, with chateaux, ancient monuments, caves, beautiful villages, farmers markets, art galleries and museums all within easy travelling distance. We provide guests with a comprehensive list of attractions.
Some of the highlights include:
* Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, one of France's prettiest villages. Bars and restaurants surrounded the square, local musicians frequently play free gigs and there's a clean beach and canoeing for all the family to enjoy
* Poltrot - a great place to hang out for the day. Accrobranche, canoeing, wild water swimming, beach, volleyball, BBQ, climbing frames and lots of space for football and frisbee
* Brantome - the Venice of the Dordogne. Home to a Benedictine monastery, boat trips, canoeing, shopping, wining and dining - and some very delicious ice cream
* Bourdeilles - another pretty village with a chateaux, medieval garden and some lovely walks
* Saint Emilion - come here to enjoy ancient monuments, art galleries and wine tours, and some of the best wine France has to offer (I'm not biased, honest)
* Cognac - meander along the river and sample the wares of the world-famous Cognac distilleries
- Near hiking trails
- Near riding
- Fishing
