The house
Les Hirondelles is situated in the village of Paunat, in the 'Périgord Noir', roughly in the middle of the triangle formed by the towns of Bergerac, Périgueux and Sarlat-la-Caneda. The house was built in 1901 by a woodcutter and is surrounded by a beautiful plot of 1,900 m2. The heated swimming pool of 10 metres by 5 metres is the icing on the cake and provides refreshment in the hot summer months and a pleasant swim in spring and autumn.
The authenticity of the house, with its white outer walls and red shutters, has been preserved but the interior decoration has been adapted to today's needs and requirements, valuing light and space. In the winter of 2014-15, the house was therefore thoroughly renovated and redecorated inside, after the previous year the roof was renewed and the patio was considerably enlarged so that it has now become a fully-fledged covered terrace, with a fireplace that provides cosy warmth when the evening cools down.

Paunat is a small village in the 'Périgord-noir', with a medieval church dating from 991. Next to the church you will find the restaurant 'Chez Julien', with a pleasant terrace. You can also buy bread here from 9.30h. The nearest village with a supermarket and other shops is Le Bugue, at 7 km.
Nice and interesting villages and small towns nearby are: Trémolat, Lalinde, Les Eyzies, St. Cyprien, Le Buisson-de-Cadouin, Belves. Each of these villages has its own market day. So every day of the week you can spend your money in a pleasant way!

Towns
At 25 km from Paunat you will find the village of Belves. A must in July and August is the 'food market' on Wednesday evening. You buy what you want to eat at the stalls around the central square and then eat under the halls.
A little further away are the historic towns of Bergerac (40 km), Périgueux (50 km) and Sarlat-la-Caneda (40 km). Each of these towns has its own character, with Sarlat being the most authentic. Just 5 km from 'Les Hirondelles', in Limeuil, you will find beautiful 'plages' on the banks of the Dordogne, where it is lovely in or near the water. There is an inflatable boat available at Les Hirondelles so the children can sail on the Dordogne. Canoeing is also possible. Beynac-et-Cazenac, La Roque-Cageac and Rocamadour are tourist attractions along the Dordogne that are certainly worth a visit.

From Paunat there are 4 mapped out walks of 10-13 km. There are many possibilities for activities in the area, for both young and old. The latest craze, the 'acrobranch' (acrobatic and adventurous course in the trees) is an exciting and sporty experience for all and, only a few km away, all kinds of water sports can be practised (also water skiing). The region is perfect for pleasant walking and cycling trips (bikes are available!), horse riding is possible in one of the many riding schools and you can canoe on the Vézère or the Dordogne. Those who prefer a little higher altitude can do so in a paraglider, a ULM or can explore the region in a hot air balloon (a very pleasant experience).
