The house
This is a lovely detached house that was completely renovated in late 2018. The location of the house makes this truly unique. Completely free at the edge of the forest, allowing deer, wild boar and all sorts of small animals to walk through the (unfenced) garden. Enjoy unprecedented peace and quiet and the sounds of the forest. The house lacks nothing, stays wonderfully cool in summer and is fully equipped. The house has a living/sitting room, living/dining kitchen, two bedrooms (one with a bunk bed 80x200) and bathroom with shower and toilet.
If you want a bit more space, there is the option of also using the chalet (see photos). As this chalet is not equipped with toilet facilities, we do not offer it as suitable for six people, but if extra sleeping places are needed, it can be used (in consultation). Electricity is available in the chalet. A short distance away is Sainte Alvére, a cosy village with 2 bakeries, a bar-tabac, a pharmacy, small supermarket and 2 restaurants. There is also the well-known truffle market here in winter and a regular market every week throughout the year. In short: everything for a wonderful stay!!!
The Dordogne region is versatile. You can get busy by visiting markets, towns or chateaus. However, you can also enjoy the peace and quiet by playing golf, hiking, cycling, horse riding, playing tennis or canoeing. And don't forget all the delicious food options. The hosts will be happy to help you choose your restaurant!
Deffé is less suitable for wheelchairs due to the uneven terrain.

Le Deffé Dordogne is a charming and very private 'forest house' in a lovely quiet area. In 2018, the house was completely renovated and modernized, of course with the atmosphere of France. Besides tackling floors, walls and ceilings, a new kitchen and bathroom were made.
The terrain of approximately 3,000 m2 is sloping upwards. The garden/terrain merges imperceptibly into the forest. Wild animals are often present around the house, for example, deer or roe deer can just walk through the garden and an owl or squirrel can entertain you in the evening.
You can choose sun or shade, the many trees on the property provide cooling in the hot summer months! Sun can also be found on the terrace or in the garden. The house remains anyway very pleasantly cool.
At a 5-10 minutes drive you will find the village of Sainte-Alvère, where you will find a bakery and a small supermarket. There is also a bar-tabac, some shops and a restaurant.

We hebben de jaarwisseling in Deffé Dordogne doorgebracht. De route hier naartoe is al erg rustgevend. Bij aankomst stond de verhuurder ons op te wachten voor een korte rondleiding, tekst en uitleg over het huisje en verse eitjes. :) Het contact met de verhuurder is prima, reageert snel. Het huisje ligt idyllisch tegen de bosrand aan, vanuit het huisje kun je zo het bos inlopen. Ook kun je in de buurt heerlijk wandelen. Het huisje zelf is erg praktisch ingericht. Verwarmen gaat hoofdzakelijk via de houtkachel. Hout is op voorraad en op verzoek wordt er meteen nieuw hout aangeleverd. Naast houtkachel is een elektrische kachel aanwezig. Het huisje is comfortabel warm. Verder is een slaapkamer met 2-persoonsbed aanwezig, bed was opgemaakt bij aankomst. Dit is erg plezierig. Voldoende ruimte om de kleding neer te hangen/leggen. Ook nog een slaapkamer met stapelbed. Door de open inrichting van het huisje: 1 ruimte met zithoek/tv en keuken met eethoek/houtkachel is het erg gezellig vertoeven. Bank en stoelen zitten prima. In de keuken is alles meer dan aanwezig wat je nodig hebt om te koken. Badkamer is compleet met douche/toilet en wasmachine/droger. Het is een heel plezierig en compact huisje om vakantie te vieren. Op oudjaarsdag werden wij nog verrast met oliebollen.

Restaurants, food & wine
Wine tastings and culinary delights are plentiful in the area, we will be happy to give you various tips! If you like to cook yourself, you can buy fresh truffles in winter on the market in Saint-Alvère (5-10 minutes by car), where the Perigord is famous for. In the same village you will find a cosy restaurant and a bar tabac with terrace. There are many other restaurants within 15 minutes by car.
In the summer months there are several times a week markets, brocantes or vide-greniers. Especially the marché nocturnes are worth a visit, you will find besides the fun and live music, also delicious food that you can buy at different stalls.
Keep an eye on the markets of Sainte-Alvère, Trémolat, Limeuil and Audrix!
Activities
Besides the many markets that can be found in the area, you can also visit beautiful towns like La Roque-Gageac, Le Bugue, Perigueux, Bergerac and Sarlat. An experience is also to go into the caves, gouffre de Lascaux, gouffre de Proumeyssac and gouffre de Rouffignac. Or do you imagine yourself in another century by visiting the castles of Beynac, 'Les Milandes' by Josephine Baker and Castelnaud?
In the village of Limeuil, the rivers meet and there is an adjacent beach. Play park Jacquou is nearby and about an hour's drive away is survival park: Monkey Forest near Sarlat. Playing or relaxing with a book and a glass of wine is also possible on site!
For the active challenge you can go cycling, walking, canoeing, horse riding and tennis in the vicinity. For those who love golf, there are several beautiful courses to be found. The most beautiful course, less than 30 minutes away, has to be La Marterie in Saint Felix de Reillac. Other beautiful courses in the area are Golf de Periquex and Lolivarie in Saint Germain de Belvès.
