The house
On the outskirts of the picturesque village of Saint Auvent is the (former) village school. The adjoining house - where the schoolmaster used to live - has been converted into an attractive holiday home with an enclosed garden. With 4 bedrooms, 2 kitchens and 2 bathrooms, it offers space for 6 adults and 2 children.
On the ground floor you will find a spacious living room with a fully equipped kitchenette, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom and separate toilet.
The master bedroom has 2 comfortable box spring beds (90-200), in the cosy children's room there is a bunk bed. The bathroom has a walk-in shower, washbasin and hairdryer.
On the 1st floor you will find 2 spacious rooms and a bathroom. The 1st room has 2 comfortable box-spring beds (90-200). In the 2nd room, besides 2 beds, there is also a kitchenette and a TV.
If you are only 2 people using the upper floor, the sleeping area of this 2nd room can be converted into a sitting area in no time.
The bathroom has a large walk-in shower, toilet, washbasin and hairdryer.
The house is heated by a beautiful wood-burning stove (ground floor) and electric radiators.
The private garden has a large terrace with seating and 2 sun beds. From here you have a magnificent view of the valley, where the river 'the Gorette' gently meanders.
In the shared garden there is a swimming pool for the use of all guests.

The village of St Auvent is located in the Haute-Vienne (Limousin), a beautiful green hilly region. The many winding roads take you through sleepy villages and along the numerous lakes and rivers in the area. The forests are dominated by sweet chestnut trees and in the meadows, sheep and caramel-coloured cows graze peacefully.

Restaurants, food & wine
In the summer months we cook 2-3 times a week for our guests. Outside this period possibly in consultation.
In July & August there is a farmers market every Thursday evening in one of the villages in the area. You sit outside at long tables - together with the French - to enjoy all the good things that the land produces here.
Furthermore, in the vicinity you will find a variety of restaurants - from pizza to gastronomy - for all tastes.
Activities
The Haute-Vienne has a lot to offer for a relaxing holiday. There are lovely villages in the area where you can go for your groceries, local markets or just to have a drink. You can browse through second-hand shops (brocantes) or visit Limoges, famous for its porcelain. You can visit the zoo, adventure parks for the kids or the impressive war memorial Oradour sur Glane. You can canoe on the Vienne and swim/relax at the recreational lakes in the area. Furthermore, the area is ideal for walking, cycling (note the hilly nature of the region!) or touring by car or motorbike. We have a wide selection of brochures, walks and maps, from which you can make a choice at your leisure.

The cost for our table d'hote is €21 per person (excluding drinks). We have a special rate for little ones up to 12 years old.

Prices as stated are for 4 people. The price for an extra person/week is €15.
In low season we charge €60/week for extra energy & wood for the stove.

We zijn net terug van een weekje bij Annemieke, Vincent en Sjors. We kregen een super-onthaal met een heerlijke maaltijd waar Annemieke haar hart en ziel had ingestoken, zowel groot als klein vond het heerlijk. Ook op onze laatste avond hebben we genoten van de kookkunsten van Annemieke. Joppe was superblij met zijn feestmaal ;-) Het was zalig vertoeven aan de lange houten tafel met onze reisgenoten en een ander gezin in het gezelschap van Vincent en Annemieke. Door de talrijke tips voor uitstapjes hebben we ons zeker niet moeten vervelen en was een week eigenlijk te kort. Een meertje voor de kinderen, een kasteel en Oradour voor de cultuur, Limoge en de boerenmarkt voor het plezier... En als we terug aan het huisje waren, konden Joppe en Josefien tafelvoetbal spelen, verfrissing vinden in het zwembadje en samen ravotten met de andere kinderen en Sjors. Het huisje achter het vroegere schooltje was piekfijn in orde en zeer ruim en wat een uitzicht vanop het terras !!! De ideale plaats voor een aperitief." La Maison" is perfect om met 2 bevriende gezinnen te verblijven. Alles is er aanwezig. Je kan zowel samen leven als afzonderlijk. Je voelt je direct thuis. We zullen " La Maison " zeker aanraden aan vrienden en familie, zowel voor lange als korte verblijven. En als we nog eens richting zuiden rijden, wordt het zeker onze tussenstop ;-)
