The house
At the edge of the picturesque village of Saint Auvent stands the former village school. In the adjoining house - the schoolmaster used to live here - you will find our attractive, fully equipped gîte 'Le Maître' on the ground floor.
The spacious room has a sitting area (TV/DVD, radio/CD/Wifi), dining area and a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher.
The 1st spacious bedroom has 2 comfortable box-spring beds (90-200cm). The small bedroom, with a bunk bed, is suitable for 2 children.
The bathroom has a walk-in shower, washbasin and hairdryer. There is a separate toilet.
The cottage is heated by a lovely wood-burning stove and electric radiators.
The private garden has a large sunny terrace with seating and 2 sun beds and a parasol. Here you have a beautiful view of the valley, where the river 'the Gorette' gently flows.
In the shared garden you will find the swimming pool with terrace and sunbeds.

The village of St Auvent is located in the Haute-Vienne (Limousin), a beautiful green hilly region. The many winding roads take you through sleepy villages and along the numerous lakes and rivers in the area. The forests are dominated by sweet chestnut trees and in the meadows, sheep and caramel-coloured cows graze peacefully.

Wat een fijne gite. Alles was aanwezig. Het was voor september uitzonderlijk warm , maar binnen in het huisje heerlijk koel.De gite ligt in een rustige omgeving, mooi uitzicht, aan de rand van een klein dorpje. Er is genoeg te doen in de omgeving.
Valerie en Vincent zijn heel vriendelijk, gastvrij en behulpzaam. Een klein mankement in de douche werd direct verholpen.M.A. Anema from Krimpen aan de Lek,
Wij zijn net terug van een heerlijke vakantie bij Vincent in Saint-Auvent.
Wat hebben we genoten van de heerlijke Gîte "Le Maître" met het prachtige uitzicht waar we elke morgen mee wakker werden. De vakantie begint al op het moment dat je aankomt. Na een bijzonder vriendelijk ontvangst zet Vincent een overheerlijke maaltijd op de lange tafel, waar je gezellig samen met de andere gasten kan genieten van al het lekkers wat hij gemaakt heeft.
Sinds kort is er ook een zwembad op het terrein. Hier hebben de kinderen fantastisch gebruik van kunnen maken met dat prachtige weer heel de vakantie. Ook hebben de kinderen genoten van die lieve hond Sjors en missen haar nog elke dag.
De omgeving van Saint-Auvent is prachtig. Plaatsen als Saint-Junien en Rochechouard zijn zeker de moeite waard om te bezoeken. Ook Oradour-sur-Glane is heel indrukwekkend, zeker als je het verhaal erachter weet.
Kortom: A-l'ecole is een plek om zeker eens te bezoeken en een aanrader voor iedereen, jong en oud. Wij gaan er zeker nog een keer naartoe!Anita van Sonseek from Berlicum,

Onze vakantie begon met een geweldig diner, verzorgd door Vincent en zijn broer en schoonzus. We hebben het afgelopen jaren aardig wat gite bezocht. Ook deze gite gaf ons het echte Frankrijkgevoel. De gite was goed verzorgd en van alle gemakken voorzien. Het was gezellig, prima privacy en toch de mogelijkheid andere mensen te ontmoeten, we hebben ons goed vermaakt.
Heel erg bedankt Vincent en misschien tot ziens.
Restaurants, food & wine
In the summer months we cook 2-3 times a week for our guests. Outside this period possibly in consultation.
In July & August there is a farmers market every Thursday evening in one of the villages in the area. You sit outside at long tables - together with the French - to enjoy all the good things that the land produces here.
Furthermore, in the vicinity you will find a variety of restaurants - from pizza to gastronomy - for all tastes.
Activities
The Haute-Vienne has a lot to offer for a relaxing holiday. There are lovely villages in the area where you can go for your groceries, local markets or just to have a drink. You can browse through second-hand shops (brocantes) or visit Limoges, famous for its porcelain. You can visit the zoo, adventure parks for the kids or the impressive war memorial Oradour sur Glane. You can canoe on the Vienne and swim/relax at the recreational lakes in the area. Furthermore, the area is ideal for walking, cycling (note the hilly nature of the region!) or touring by car or motorbike. We have a wide selection of brochures, walks and maps, from which you can make a choice at your leisure.

The cost for our table d'hote is €21 per person (excluding drinks). We have a special rate for little ones up to 12 years old.

Prices as stated are for 2 persons. The price for an extra person/week is €15.
In low season we charge €40/week for extra energy & wood for the stove.
