The house
This idyllic and beautifully located spacious private holiday home La Chataigne is equipped with all modern conveniences and luxury and with 4 persons you have all the space. (On the site there is nobody else staying or living, we live a few kilometres away)
Through the front door you enter the very atmospheric living room annex kitchen This house has recently been completely rebuilt and meets all modern requirements of luxury and comfort.
In the kitchen there is a large dining table, a fridge, kettle, gas hob, Senseo and coffee machine. Here you will also find the wood-burning stove that heats the entire house without any problems. There is also central heating for the colder period and/or evenings.
In the living room area is a HD television with satellite receiver. There is also a stereo system with CD player and a separate DVD player.
From this room you enter the bedroom with a pine double bed 140x200 with slats. There is also a wardrobe.
The fully tiled bathroom has a spacious separate shower, a bathroom cabinet and a toilet and all beds have duvets.
In addition, there is a second gite on the property (La Petite Chataigne) with two rooms, utility room and a second bedroom, here you will find in the utility room a washing machine, oven, microwave and an extra bedroom, with bed of 140x200 also with slats and a sink
This house has a unique location and is absolutely quiet in the woods. You reach the house via a 250 metre long paved private road up through the forest. You will find the house at the end of this road in a private forest Saoulade, in the municipality Lacapelle Biron, this forest has a surface of 6 hectares, (60,000 m2) You have here an absolute 100% private and quiet. The many trees around the house will also give you the necessary shade, it is also very sunny everywhere. The morning sun is on the terrace.
This really beautifully situated house in the middle of nature is a must. The large terrace (veranda of 21m2) is completely covered and equipped with garden chairs with garden table, parasol and Lafuma sun loungers. In the garden there is an additional seating area with a fixed stone barbecue.
It can regularly occur that the deer walk around the house. The whole area around the house is fenced and can be closed by a metal gate. Very convenient if you have children or a dog.
It is situated in the triangle of the departments Lot, Lot et Garonne and Dordogne. 10 km from Monpazier and 35 km from Sarlat

South-east Dordogne, Périgord Pourpre: Or the "Purple Périgord" whose name purple refers to the grape region where the leaves turn purple in the autumn. The capital is Bergerac. The landscape is dominated by vineyards and forests. The river Dordogne runs through the whole region from east to west. Worth visiting: the castles of Monbazillac (25km) and Biron (2km), the places Bergerac (45km), (Lalinde 40km), Montpazier (6km), Villefranche du Périgord (8km) and the recently discovered caves of Le Buisson de Cadouin (25km).
The population
The inhabitants of the Dordogne are called Périgourdins (after the name of the former province of Périgord). The population is about 400,000 people living in an area of 9,225 km², about 25% of the Netherlands and Belgium. Dordogne is the third largest department in France. For our purposes, the towns in the Dordogne are large villages. The capital Périgueux has 30,000 inhabitants; as many as e.g. Castricum.
The house is located between the rivers le Lot and La Dordogne with its valleys on a mountain in a private domain Saoulade of 6 hectares of forest and meadow (60 000 m2). Here you can enjoy absolute peace and privacy and the beautiful nature with all its sounds.

Wij komen hier nu voor de tweede keer, heerlijk weer uitgerust, leuke gite van alle gemakken voorzien en rustig, oh zo rustig. We komen iedere keer met onze honden en die kunnen hier heerlijk rondlopen. Alles is omheind, geeft ons veel rust.

De laatste avond van 3 weken die zijn omgevlogen, het was een mooie warme periode. Heerlijk rustig hier, we hebbend elke gelezen, ook de boeken van Rob hebben we flink doorgespit.In de buurt en vanuit de woning veel wandelingen gemaakt met Boris, onze trouwe viervoeter . Jullie hebben een heerlijke plek en de woning zeer smaakvol gemaakt. Alles is aanwezig zelfs internet is erg goed en dat op zo'n afgelegen plek

Het is al weer een paar weken, dat we teug zijn in Nederland. Ons verblijf in La Chataigne was perfect. Het huisje is niet groot, maar voor ons tweeen en de twee honden was het ruim genoeg en voorzien van alles wat je voor een vakantie nodig hebt. Onze honden hebben genoten in de zeer grote goed omheinde tuin en zodra je de tuin uitkomt sta je op de privé toegangsweg van ca 500 meter door een bos. Dit is het ideale huisje voor rustzoekers en mensen die het kamperen in de natuur op hebben moeten geven. Je voelt je hier weer als Adam en Eva in het paradijs.

Restaurants, food & wine
Cadouin is also worth visiting, as is Le Bugue. The world famous wine city Bergerac is at a distance of 40 minutes driving. A very cosy Bougondian city, which is especially inviting to visit during the week. From the house there are several possibilities for walking through hiking trails which are indicated by means of various colours. Some are 20 km long, but you can also make shorter walks. Walking maps you can buy at the tourist office in Fumel and in Monpazier (Departement Lot et Garonne)
A visit to the world-famous city Perigieux, chateau Monbazillac, Rocamadour and the many oldest caves in France is highly recommended.
There is the possibility to visit the famous wine houses, where this area is rich of. You can also get wine from the many wine chateaus, both a Vin du Table and a Vin de Cahors. In the immediate vicinity you will find dozens of
wineries
Activities
At a distance of eight kilometres from this holiday home, you will find the town of Fumel. In the village Lacapelle Biron 2.5 km from this house is a traditional bakery. A supermarket where you can also get the first necessities of life, restaurant, garage, butcher, pharmacy etc.
Monpazier is a must, many restaurants and very nice, is 10 minutes away.
FISHING: You can do this at various locations, including Lac de Marou at 8 minutes distance, see photos. This lake is also great for recreation. Also in the River Lot, (15 min) the River Dordogne, (40 min) fishpond in Casagnes (15 min)
The River Lot also runs through Fumel and upstream you will find the village "Duravel",. Here you can rent canoes, bicycles, mountain bikes etc. There is also the possibility of an organised trip, under supervision, in the River Dordogne. In the town of Monpazier there are several nice restaurants where you can eat well and there is a nice market on the square on Thursdays. (Foldermaterial can be found in the Gite!) There are also many festivals in the area during the summer holidays, also for children there is much to do. Like the medieval festivals in Monpazier.
In Lacapelle-Biron (2.5 km) you will find the adventurous 'Parc en Ciel'. This park is 16 hectares and here you will find, among others, a beautiful swimming lake, an exciting ropes course, a miniature golf course and various walking paths through the woods. This amusement park in the middle of nature is very suitable for a cosy trip with the family.
Other possibilities for swimming can be found in Fumel, where there is a swimming pool. In the Dordogne, Limeuil, the Dordogne and Vezere come together, nice beach and canoe rentals Golf courses can also be found in the area. Horseback riding under supervision, you can at a riding school that organizes tours, also at a distance of 25 minutes. Fishing opportunities are at a distance of 8 minutes from the house, very quiet.
