The house
For rent for two weeks in August. Holiday flat of approx. 80 m2 with two bedrooms and two bathrooms with walk-in shower, washbasin and toilet. Each bedroom has two single beds, bedside tables, bedside lamps, wardrobe.
Living room of approx. 40 m2 with open kitchen. Living room with sofa, 2 chairs, flat screen HDTV with all major French and Dutch channels. Kitchen equipped with 90cm gas hob, American fridge, dishwasher, washing machine and all usual equipment.
Large terrace and large non-heated pool 10 x 5 completely private.

Between the fantastic nature area of the Montagne Noire and the Pyrenees lies Carcassonne (8km), a fortified city of which the oldest, medieval part (la Cité), has been beautifully preserved (world heritage). It is the largest fortress in Europe, 2 walls and 40 towers. If you like history: you are in Cathar country, within a radius of 70km you can visit many old mountain fortresses that served as hiding places for the Cathars. Beautiful cities like Limoux and medieval Mirepoix are nearby. From Carcassonne you can make boat trips on the Canal du Midi (world heritage). If you want more water, go to the Lac de Cavayere (12km) for lots of water fun, or to Narbonne-Plage for the Mediterranean beach (1 hour). You can go to the fantastic nature of the Montagne Noire or to the Pyrenees, you can go hiking in the mountains, cycling for instance along the Canal du Midi from lock to lock, you can go golfing or horse riding or do a hundred other things or yes ..., you can just read a book by the pool.

Een uitstekend huis, zeer mooi en proper, een warme ontvangst door de eigenaar, zwembad uitstekend en een mooie omgeving om rond te toeren, we gaan zeker nog eens terug.

Heerlijk huis, van alle gemakken voorzien! En lekker privé. Weer was prachtig dus het eigen zwembad was fijn. Dichtbij Carcasonne, Canal du Midi en het gemoedelijke Trebes! Aanrader!

Een prachtig vakantiehuis in een rustige omgeving. 's Ochtends de schuifpui open , op het terras lekker ontbijten en zwemmen in het mooie zwembad. Alle voorzieningen aanwezig, wasmachine, groot fornuis, amerikaanse koelkast, noem maar op. Het huis ligt een stukje van de weg, op deze plek kom je echt tot rust. In de omgeving is veel te zien , zoals Carcasonne, grotten van Cabrespine (Gouffre de Cabrespine), Mirepoix, etc. Ook zit je hier in de wijnstreek, dus genoeg lekkere wijnen de vinden. Voor een goede ochtendwandel kan je lopen naar Trebes om bv stokbrood en croissants te halen. Is wel een flinke wandeling, maar heerlijk rustig door de natuur en langs wijnvelden. De gastheer Jeroen de Wit is zeer bekwaam , maakt het zwembad goed schoon en weet je ook veel informatie te geven over de omgeving. Kortom een aanrader. Het enige nadeel was, dat we maar 1 week geboekt hadden, we hadden hier zeker langer kunnen blijven.
Restaurants, food & wine
Culinary and wine, something I believe you should not try to say too much about, especially when you are in a region where you can never say enough, also because when you finally stop talking about it, you realise that you have not said it all yet. Languedoc-Roussillon is the largest wine region in France. Carcassonne is situated in the Languedoc ( Aude, Gard, Hérault, aka "Le Midi" ) and on the three-wine country point of Minervois/Cabardes/Côtes de la Malepere, mainly red terroir wines that often provide very pleasant surprises. Slightly to the south lies Limoux, known for its mainly white wines (the Blanquettte or Crémant), usually sparkling, sometimes still. The red Limoux is always still. Sweet white muscatel from St. Jean de Minervois. Culinary ? World famous is of course the Cassoulet from Castelnaudary, but there is a world of local dishes in restaurants or at home of delicious pâté, cheese, olives and many other things like the sweet touron of nuts and honey.
Activities
Villedubert is situated along the Canal du Midi, along which you can cycle and walk on fairly flat terrain. If you want to be more sporty, you can go to the hills of the Minervois or to the Black Mountains (Montagne Noire). In the vicinity are several possibilities for horseback riding. In the nearby town of Carcassonne there are tennis courts (closed during the high season) and you can play golf. Nearby is also the Lac de la Cavayere, lots of water fun, swimming, pedal boats, water slides, adventure climbing etc. Swimming, beach and sea are an hour away by car (approx. 80Km) e.g. at Narbonne Plage. If you like caves go to the Grotte de Limousis an easy accessible cave system with the largest crystal chandelier in the world or to the Gouffre Geant de Cabrespine with an easy accessible part and for the more experienced adventurer a guided tour by appointment.

Further remarks
I think it is important for you to know about the house and the grounds.
Smoking is absolutely not allowed in the house, but also not outside on the terrain, open fire is absolutely not allowed, barbecue on fire / charcoal etc. We consider the house not suitable for very young children because it is not equipped for them. The pool has no separate child safety feature. If you want to know more about this please do not hesitate to contact us.
The pool is maintained by myself, normally 3 times a week cleaning and water testing. This in consultation with you in terms of time.
Additional price info and offers
Linen compulsory purchase a 12.00 € per person per week contains everything you need for bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. Towels for the swimming pool and / or beach must be brought by yourself.
Rental price includes gas, water, electricity at normal use. There are no reservation costs/booking fees/administration costs etc.
