The house

  • Quiet, rural area

This self catering gîte is set on the property of a fully renovated old farmhouse. It is detached and consists of a hall and a very spacious living room with a loft. The loft has a double bed (180x200cm). There is also a spacious bedroom with two single box-spring beds (90x200 cm and easy to join to make a double bed), a spacious bedroom with a double bed (180x200 cm), a well-equipped kitchen (fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, Nespresso coffee maker, kettle, induction hob, mixer, etc.) and a bathroom with toilet, tiled shower with safety glass door and bathroom furniture. The gite has two spacious covered terraces, an outdoor kitchen with bbq and there are various seating areas with lots of privacy, whether you wish to stay in the shade or in the sun. There is also a large pergola with lounge set, hammock, dining table, etc. In the gite (and in the pool of about 9x4.5 m with a deep and shallow part) it stays nice and cool during the warm summer months.

Surroundings

The detached gite is situated on a hill at the end of a cul-de-sac country road (Chiscard), between vineyards and woods. The view from the gite and from the terraces is very beautiful. The gite has private parking and a private entrance. There is a lot of privacy for the residents of the gite as well as for the residents of the adjacent main house. The neighbor's wine farm is about 200 meters away. Other 'neighbors' are the deer and many birds from the adjacent forest and vineyards.
The historic village of Belaye is a few minutes' drive away and has a cozy French bar / restaurant where the residents play boules and catch up (and no doubt gossip too!). Prayssac, a village with all necessary facilities (doctor, dentist, pharmacy, etc.) and nice amenities ( including traditional bakers and butchers, restaurants, flea traders, supermarkets, lively weekly market, etc.) is an 8-minute drive away. Cahors, the provincial capital with many shops, restaurants, markets, a hospital, etc., is a 25-minute drive away.
Once you reach the south of Paris, the roads are wide and beautiful and you get the 'French feeling'.

Wij komen heel graag weer terug.

Wat een geweldige locatie met privé zwembad! Fantastische gastheer die zorgt dat je het naar je zin hebt. Geeft goede tips in de buurt.
Zeer rustige omgeving. Kortom voor herhaling vatbaar. Top.
    Bedankt Sjoerd.

Restaurants, food & wine

Look for the best restaurants in the area and discover the regional cuisine. For the real gourmands, there are 'Michelin star' restaurants nearby. But many restaurants have a tasty three-course daily menu for around € 13.00 per person. Highly recommended!
In the Lot valley, there are many proud winegrowers who like to show you their (organic) wines on the farm or chateau. Growers of vegetables, cheese farmers, fruit growers, butchers, etc. offer their fair trade products at the weekly markets in the immediate vicinity. The weekly markets on Friday morning in Prayssac and Sunday morning in Montcuq are particularly popular in the region.
The kitchen in the gite and the outdoor kitchen are well equipped to prepare delicious dishes at home.

Activities

The Lot valley and the immediate surroundings of the gite are ideal for outdoor activities. Hiking in old villages and vineyards, along streams and rivers and in the vast forests. Canoeing and swimming in the Lot. Mountain biking on the countless forest trails and on the high plains. Cycling on old country roads. Visiting nice flea markets and weekly markets, looking for the best wineries and restaurants in the area, there is something to suit any taste, age and budget. And drinking a nice glass of wine at the gite can also be a wonderful activity!
Car and motorcycle tours through the old and sometimes quiet surroundings are also an absolute must!
In the slightly more northerly Dordogne there are many tourist attractions that are often very worthwhile.
And finally, it is always wonderful to come home to the peace, coolness and comfort of the gite.
