The house
Holiday home Papillon is one of the 6 gîtes of the idyllic, small-scale Domaine de Montsalvy, which is highly rated by its guests and scores no less than 9.1 out of 116 reviews on Zoover. Papillon is an ideal gîte for couples or young families. A cosy and cosy holiday home with a spacious (partly covered) terrace and its own covered and therefore always cool parking right next to it. It is an easily accessible, ground-floor gîte with a sitting area where the sofa bed is located and, on the other side, a renovated kitchen with dining area. Furthermore, the gite is equipped with a music charging/playback station including CD player. Listening to your own favourite music, you can also enjoy a freshly brewed cup of Nespresso.
Papillon also has a spacious bedroom with access to the bathroom, newly installed in 2023, with Italian walk-in shower, hanging toilet, natural stone sink and electric floor heating. And of course the gîte has free WIFI (fibre optic) both inside and on the terrace, which is partly covered and equipped with a 4-seater seating area and barbecue and has a nice view of the courtyard with fountain.

Papillon is at walking distance (1,5 km) from the village of Dégagnac, where you'll find a small shop (bread, dairy, vegetables, newspapers), a bar, restaurant and post office. Gourdon, only 12 minutes away by car, has supermarkets, a weekly market, all kinds of shops, numerous restaurants, a cinema and a railway station. Many places of interest in the Lot and Dordogne are within easy reach; a short list of places of interest and driving distance: The beautiful Domme: 20min; the superfamous Roque Gageac and Beijnac: 30min; the cosy and culturally rich Sarlat: 30min; the authentic Cahors: 30min; the breathtaking Rocamadour: 60min and the impressive Saint Cirq-Lapopie: 60min. The famous caves of Padirac, Pech-Merle and Cougnac are also worth a visit. In the Lot, the concentration of 'Les Plus Beaux Villages' is no less than 6 times higher than average in France!

Wat een heerlijke en geweldige eigenaren, Theo en Ellen (Helene :-) op zijn Frans, die je gelijk het gevoel geven of je thuis bent. Wij hadden de gite Grange, een mooie gite voor 2, wel af en toe boven uitkijken voor de hoogte maar dat is bijna overal in oude schuren. Alles aanwezig en op het terrein kun je je al een week vermaken naast dat het een mooie uitvalsbasis is voor mooie trips naar de Lot en Dordogne.
Als je ook nog wijnliefhebber bent of spirituele interesse hebt, naast tennisser of gewoon van lekker eten houdt dan is dit een aanrader. Theo en Ellen weten van bovenstaande alles en zorgen er ook nog voor dat je daar van mag en kan genieten.

Leuke gîte , wij komen hier al meerdere jaren en komen hier echt tot rust . Lekker weer voor de vrouw en lekker fietsen voor de mannen. Wij hebben er weer erg van genoten en komen zeker terug volgend jaar , als het kan voor het werk , iets langer dan nu 10 dagen.
Restaurants, food & wine
A variety of estate products are available, including homemade fig, blackberry and plum jam (consisting only of fruit and preserving sugar), nut liqueur, walnuts from their own orchard, mint tea and a range of white, rosé and red wines from renowned Cahors producer Chateau Les Croisille. BBQ, pizza and tapas evenings are organised on the estate twice a week in the summer season. Outside the high season Table d'Hôtes is offered, for which the many positive reviews on Zoover can be found (http://www.zoover.nl/frankrijk/midi-pyrenees/degagnac/domaine-de-montsalvy/vakantiehuis).
The region around Cahors is known for its characteristic red wines, melons de Quercy, magret de canard, foie gras, the aromatic truffles, the slightly sweet walnuts and the delicious cheeses. All these products are available at the producers, on the many local markets (a.o. Gourdon, Cazals, Domme, Cahors) and in the supermarkets. In the vicinity there are numerous restaurants where you can taste all this delicious food; of course we are happy to advise you!
Owner Theo Drummen has a passion for wine and also organises regular wine tastings where wines are tasted blind and knowledge of wine is increased in a playful manner.
Wine and Cooking Weeks are also offered at the edges of the summer season.
Activities
Close to Papillon, you can swim, play tennis, jeu de boules, table football, volleyball, badminton, walk and cycle. There is also a possibility to take tennis lessons, that will be given by owner Theo, a certified KNLTB-tennis-teacher. Furthermore, there is the possibility of language lessons (English, French and Spanish), both for beginners and advanced students, or for high school students, who want to be "brushed up" for a few hours during their holiday. These lessons are given by co-owner Ellen, who has a background as a Spanish and English teacher. If you like horse riding, it might be good to know that there are two riding schools in Dégagnac.
On the rivers Lot and Dordogne you can make beautiful canoe and kayak trips. Moreover, the rivers and the nearby lakes are excellent for fishing.

Further remarks
In the season, bbq, pizza and tapas evenings are organised on the domain, while in the off-season Table d'Hôtes is possible. It is also possible to arrange a tennis lesson with Theo (official KNLTB trainer), a conversation hour in French, English or Spanish with Ellen (teacher) or to follow a creative workshop.
