The house
Self Catering Holiday Home Ma Chaumière, French for "My cabin", is a wonderful holiday home for families with children but also for couples.
This house will fit you like a glove. Tastefully decorated and very livable. In a secluded location, with optimum privacy, on a 1-hectare site with a large private swimming pool. Young and old can have fun here. In addition to the large swimming pool with a spacious terrace and BBQ, there is a large, exciting tree house. A playground, volleyball / soccer field, space for badminton and petanque and a buried trampoline complete this play paradise. All facilities on site are exclusively for the use of the tenants. At the swimming pool there is a covered terrace to enjoy the sunset during an evening meal. The entire play paradise can be viewed from the house. The swimming pool is equipped with both an alarm and a gate, parents can have a carefree holiday here.
In addition to all this, a shallow stream flows along the site, where the children can build dams and play.
There are four terraces at the house, two of which are covered. Enter the house through the covered terrace into the spacious living room (with wood burning stove) and open plan kitchen. In the living room there is a sitting area with TV (with Dutch channels) and a spacious dining area. The kitchen is nicely furnished and equipped with all necessities.
There are three bedrooms with good beds. Two spacious bedrooms with a double bed (160 x 200 with single duvets) and a bedroom with bunk beds where a third bed can be added. Your beds are made upon arrival. The bathroom has two sinks and a shower. There is a separate toilet.
WiFi available in and around the house. In the shed next to the house you will find a washing machine, extra garden furniture and there is room for storing your bikes.

Wonderfully quiet and private, "Ma Chaumière" is set in a unique location in the midst of a landscape characterized by hills and valleys, vineyards and sunflowers. The quiet village of Grézels is less than a kilometer away with two restaurants. At restaurant La Terrasse the food that the pot buys for a nice price is highly recommended. Restaurant La Guinguette with a playground for children is located on the Lot River. The river banks have several places where you can swim. Canoes can be rented nearby for a trip on the river. The villages of Puy-L’Eveque and Prayssac are at a short distance (5 minutes by car). In both villages you will find "toutes commerces" including large supermarkets, restaurants, bars etc. This also includes GPs, dentists, gift shops and many other facilities. The Lot Department has lots of tourist attractions. In addition to the numerous wineries, you will find beautiful towns, villages, castles and caves. Here below is a brief summary:
• Cahors, capital of the department with its charming medieval center.
• St. Cirq-Lapopie, labelled by the French as the most beautiful village of the country.
• Rocamadour, picturesque town with the "Roche d’aigles" (park with countless giant birds of prey) and the "Parc des Singes", with real monkeys.
• The caves of "Peche Merle", with Lascaux the most famous and oldest caves in France.
• Bonaguil Castle, dates from the 13th century and is open to the public
In the area there are also several lakes with man made beaches, often equipped with a playground and a Bar-Restaurant. You can find these lakes at Montcuq, Cazals and Montaigu-de-Quercy.

Eigenlijk willen we dit fantastische vakantie adres geheim houden, om zelf jaar na jaar terug te kunnen komen! Wat een paradijs! Dit was ons derde jaar hier en we hebben meteen voor volgend jaar weer geboekt. We genieten elke keer weer van de geweldige tuin, het heerlijke zwembad en het fijne koele huis. Alles wat je te wensen hebt is aanwezig, en ook de kindjes en de hond wilden niet meer naar huis! Jan Jaap en Jacqueline zijn fantastische mensen, die een paradijs hebben geschept waar we nu al weer naar uitkijken!

Ons Derde jaar bij de fam. Schut . Dit jaar met de kleinkinderen erbij en nog steeds niet uitgekeken op het gezellige huis,de ontzettend grote tuin, het heerlijke zwembad ,de trampoline en alle prachtige bezienswaardigheden in de omgeving. Volgend jaar weer. (En zo lekker gegeten)

We zijn net weer terug van een heerlijk maandlang verblijf in La Chaumiere. Dit was onze tweede keer en we hebben alweer voor volgend jaar geboekt, dat zegt volgens mij genoeg! Het heerlijke huis, de prachtige tuin, het zwembad en het feit dat de hond meekan maken dit tot een perfecte vakantieplek. De prachtige omgeving helpt natuurlijk ook mee... Tenslotte nog een tip: de dochter van de eigenaren verzorgt verschillende ontzettend leuke tours in de omgeving.
Restaurants, food & wine
This self catering cottage "Ma Chaumiere" is located in the heart of the Cahors wine region. More than 200 Chateaus and Domaines open their doors for you to come and taste the "black wines" of France. Named after their dark red color and very tasty too. Close by, in Grézels you will find the Chateau de la Coste with a small wine museum that is open in July and August. For some, the Cahor wine takes some getting used to, but once you get the right one, you won't want anything else, especially after having tried some top wines such as the wines of Chateau Fameay, Chateau La Martine, Chateau Eugenie or La Grezette. The names alone will get you in the mood already! Of course, those wines are best accompanied by a delicious meal. And well, that is why you are in this region! Taste the Foie-Gras, the duck breasts and various pâtés that add a phenomenal effect to a “terroir” meal with a nice glass of wine. You can enjoy all these delicacies in the many restaurants in the local area.
Please note: there is a small selection of Cahors wines in your gite that you can enjoy for a small fee.
During the holiday months there are regular "marchés gourmands" where you prepare your own hot meal in the various stalls and find a place with a plate and bottle of wine at one of the tables on the square or along the water. These festivities are often illuminated with live music.
Activities
Of course for grown ups as well as for children there are lots of activities within the grounds of your gite to keep everybody happy.
But there is more:
• Go canoeing, pedal boating, fishing and of course swimming on the nearby river “Lot”. You can also rent motorised boats here or explore the river on a canal boat.
• There are countless walking and cycling routes for walkers and cyclists, but a trip by car will take you to many picturesque villages.
• For golfers there is a 9 hole golf course in St. Martin le Redon at 20 minutes from your gite. There is also a bar / restaurant with good food.
• Near Montayral (12 km) is a small airport from where you can explore the area by ULM.
• Horse riding is available here to your heart's content. Different packages are available at various places in the area.
• In the area there are several lakes with beaches, often equipped with play equipment and a Bar-Restaurant. You can find these lakes at Montcuq, Cazals and Montaigu-de-Quercy.
• There are various options for visiting the coast. The Atlantic is at 2.5 hours drive (Bordeaux et al.) To the Mediterranean coast (around Narbonne and Cap D'Agde) is 3 hours drive.
• For lovers of Antiques and Brocantes, there are many (flee)markets throughout the holiday season. For the real bargains you still have to be on the Videgreniers.

Further remarks
- Holiday home "Ma Chaumière" is rented from Saturday to Saturday. Out of season we are more flexible.
- In our prices the final cleaning and bed linen are included. The beds are made upon arrival.
- For one or more dogs, a cleaning fee of 30 euros extra cleaning will be charged.
- We ask you to bring your own towels and beach towels.
- Between October and April we request a reimbursement for electricity and wood for the wood stove.
- And finally the most important ... We wish you a pleasant stay at "Ma Chaumière".

All our prices include final cleaning and linen (your bed is made upon arrival!)
A cleaning fee of 30 euros will be charged for one or several dogs.
In high season the gite is rented from Saturday to Saturday.
This can be more flexible in mid and low season, where there is a daily price.
With a reservation of 3 weeks or more, we give a 10% discount on the total rent excluding the deposit.
Between October 1 and April 1 we charge 10 euros per day for wood and electricity, during the rest of the year this is included in the rent.
