The house
Our detached gîte is spacious, and offers you all the comfort you could wish for a wonderful holiday. The total living area of the house of 110 m2 is divided between the ground floor (72 m2) and the first floor (38m2). In the 5 m high living room you can enjoy the traditional roof construction with the beams in sight. The careful finishing makes you feel welcome, and the fireplace lets you enjoy the French environment. The atmosphere is soothing, as are the colours and the quality of the furniture.
The layout is as follows:
Ground floor: The living room has a traditional Quercy fireplace, and a fully equipped kitchen corner with microwave/oven combination. So you don't have to disappear into the kitchen to cook. Noisy appliances such as refrigerator, dishwasher and washing machine are in the adjacent scullery.
In the living room there are two armchairs that can serve as a sofa bed.
Through a wide corridor you come to the large downstairs bedroom (20m2) with two beds of 200x80cm that can be joined to one large double bed (of course we take care of that). This bedroom has doors to the terrace.
This bedroom has a large bathroom (1,80 by 4,00m) with bath, and a walk-in shower with a Grohe Freehander showerhead.
The first floor consists of a landing, a bedroom with two joined beds of 200 x 80 cm each, and a mezzanine (the third, open bedroom) with two beds of 190 x 80 cm (also possible to join). This mezzanine is decorated like a romantic boudoir with colourful curtains from the fairytales of 1001 nights, the teenagers will fight over it!
Furthermore, the floor has its own bathroom with shower and toilet.
On the landing, a fold-out bed or cot can be placed if necessary (both are available).
The gîte has two large terraces, one facing east with a view of the swimming pool and the ancient village centre, and one facing south and completely immersed in the greenery with a lot of privacy.
An important point for our gîte is that it has underfloor heating, so you can stay here comfortably all year round. As an extra, when it is very hot, the floor can be cooled so it is always pleasant inside. By the way: the swimming pool is heated!

The gîte is located on our estate La Maïsou, an area of 2 ha that borders the village. In the village you will find a bakery/grocery shop, a tennis court and a playground. Our estate dates back to before 1500, and used to be an important wine producer. From that time the buildings are from this estate: a large house (maison bourgeoise) with 16 rooms, a large wine barn, an open barn and a building in which the carriages and horses used to be stabled, an écurie. This building has been converted into a gîte.
The French garden with boxwood hedges also dates from the glory days. In the course of time, this garden has developed into a real fairytale forest. It is an oasis of peace and quiet that will make you feel completely rested at the end of your holiday.
The region:
Sérignac is located in the Quercy, a region characterised by rolling landscapes, vineyards and oak forests. Time seems to have stood still here: narrow roads, little traffic, picturesque hamlets. An ideal area for walking and cycling. And here, too, peace and quiet are the key words, not to mention the friendly locals.
In the vicinity you will find fortified towns, there are daily markets and tourist attractions (Grotte de Roland, Chateau de Bonaguil).
In the summer period, village festivals are organised, flea markets (brocantes, vide greniers) and marchés gourmands. Here you can taste the regional delicacies such as duck, wine and cheese.

Restaurants, food & wine
Sérignac is situated in the area of the famous Cahors wine, we see many vineyards here, among others directly opposite our domain. There are regular wine festivals organised where you can get to know the great variety of producers. But of course you can also go and taste at the wine grower himself. The village has a shop and restaurant (Au Bout de la Rue) at only 150 m from here.
A very pleasant combination is to visit a restaurant to taste the dishes of the region, such as confit de canard, lamb from Quercy and goat's cheese, together with the wine of the region. Restaurants come in all shapes and sizes, from paysan, as mother cooks, to chic with a michelin star, from €12 for a full meal to much more. And you don't have to drive far for that.
Activities
Near Luzech, in the valley of the Lot, you will find steep slopes to climb. From these slopes you can also do paragliding. Swimming is possible in our own, heated swimming pool, in the Lot is also possible. The hilly terrain is not only suitable for walks, but also for trips with the atb, a number of routes have been described. Nearby is a riding school (Le Cheval Blanc) where you can rent a horse for trips through the area. In Villeneuve-sur-Lot you can play golf on an 18-hole course.
Canoeing on the Lot: 12 km away is a canoe rental company.

Alleraardigt ontvangst dor Jan de eigenaar. Het is een complexje met een vrijstaande Gite en in het hoofdgebouw (Waar Jan zelf woont) bevinden zich nog 2 appartementen voor andere gasten. De losstaande Gite waarin wij verbleven is heerlijk. ruim opgezet en van alle gemakken voorzien. De grote slaapkamer heeft een ruime badkamer en de slaapkamer boven nog een aparte badkamer.
Er bevind zich op het terrein een ruim zwembad met ligstoelen, dat hadden we zeker nodig in de warme week die wij troffen. op loopafstand is een klein dorpswinkeltje voor de nodige kleine boodschapjes, voor de grotere supermarkten moet je eens stukje rijden. Mooie heuvelachtige omgeving, veel wijnboeren, leuke kleine stadjes, mooi voor wandelen en fietsen. Prima plek en prima zeer relaxte gastheer, die er voor je is als je hem nodig hebt voor tips etc, en anders zie of hoor je hem niet. Heerlijke stek.
