The house
This French self catering holiday home "Bouyssac la Rivière" is located directly on the banks of the Lot river. With its 1000 m2 garden stretched along the bank, this unique site makes a true holiday paradise for those who want to get away from it all. Sitting on the balcony, enjoying a good glass of red Cahors wine, dream away by the slowly flowing river. On the riverside terrace you can enjoy the sunset while enjoying your barbecue. And if you feel like a boat trip on the river, use the house's kayak and rowing boat. They are there for you!
For anglers, this is an ideal location too. Carp, perch and catfish are often caught here.
"Bouyssac la Rivière" is a cozy house for two people of any age, for its completely private and quiet location.
The holiday home is very cozy and equipped with the necessary comfort. You enter through the well equipped kitchen with the old tiled floor. In the cozy living room there is a wood stove for colder periods. There is one bedroom with a good double bed (160 x 200) and 2 single duvets. Your bed is made upon arrival! After opening the shutters in the morning enjoy the view over the river. Right next to the bedroom is the spacious bathroom with shower and toilet.
From the balcony enter the garden via a staircase. For a dive in the river you descend more steps. Regularly, when the water level of the river is low, a large rock plateau rises in front of the house on which you can lie down and bronze....
At the bottom of the garden there is a small bamboo forest.
It is not uncommon to see otters and kingfishers from the garden, in addition to many fish.

This cosy cottage is completely private, right on the banks of Lot River, about kms from the village of Touzac. From the covered terrace there is a beautiful view over the river. A paradise for those who like fishing, but also for nature lovers. From the cottage there are beautiful walking and cycling trips. The area is characterized by viticulture. Vast "vignobles" (vineyards) are interspersed with green hills and intersected by the river. You will find as many as 200 winegrowers here, where you are welcome to come and taste and of course buy wine.
In the various villages in the area you will find charming farmer's markets and restaurants where you can enjoy the many local specialties. The baker stops every morning (except Mondays) in front of the house with fresh croissants and baguettes.
Fumel is a 10-minute drive away. Here you can do all your shopping in the supermarkets. At the same distance a little further upstream is the medieval town of Puy-L’eveque, where you can take a boat trip on the Lot or walk through ancient streets. Places like Cahors, Montcuq and st. Cirq-la Popie and the various caves in the area are more than worth a visit.

Nadat we al een week terug thuis waren, waren we nog aan het nagenieten van onze fantastische week. Wij hebben genoten van de stilte en de natuur. Ook een hele mooie omgeving die wij met de fietsen verkend hebben. Het huisje was volledig naar onze verwachtingen en de ligging aan de Lot was top.

What a lovely place! We enjoyed the privacy in having no neighbors and our very own access to the river. Our days were filled with swimming, trips with the canoe, relaxing on the terrace and watching the kingfisher flying by. The nearby village Puy-l’Évêque is very charming, provides several bakerys and a nice café.

Onze week bij de ”Bouyssac la Rivière” was een geschenk uit de hemel. We werden heel hartelijk ontvangen door gastheer en dame J&J Schut voor de sleutel en wat uitleg. Bij het huisje aangekomen kwam de oase van rust ons tegemoet. Het huisje ligt direct aan de rivier en heeft een HEEL gezellig terras/balkon met uitzicht op de rivier waar je tot heel laat zon hebt. Dit is écht een plek om te relaxen. Alleen maar natuur(geluiden) om je heen. Ons hondje heb ik nog nooit zo gelukkig gezien, vissend en spelend in the rivier. Het begin is ondiep dus perfect voor hondjes (of kinderen). De kano en roeiboot waren ook een goede toevoeging. Het huisje is ook van binnen heel gezellig ingericht en alles is aanwezig (inclusief goed internet). En heel belangrijk: het heeft een heel lekker bed en een goede douche. Wij komen zeker nog een keer terug!!!!
Restaurants, food & wine
Bouyssac la Rivière is located in the middle of the Cahors wine area. An abundance and selection of good dark wines are waiting for you in the more than 200 wineries (Domaines).
Also for good food you will be spoilt for choice in the Quercy. The local restaurants serve a variety of regional dishes for reasonable prices.
Don't miss the local markets and enjoy the smell and sight of all the wines, vegetables, fruit etc ....
Activities
There are plenty of activities right at your doorstep. From the garden take a dip in the river, or from the rock plateau drop off for a romantic canoe or rowing boat trip.
Make a bike tour or a walk in these beautiful surroundings. Cycling and walking routes are available at the various tourist information offices. You can obtain a fishing license at the "Tabac" in the various villages.
There is a 9-hole golf course near the town of Castelnaud-Montratier within a 30-minute drive and less than 5 minutes from Bouyssac la Rivière is a riding school where you can explore the Quercy region on the back of a horse. In the immediate vicinity are several swimming lakes.

Further remarks
In the gîte there is a filled wine rack with various wines, all from the region.
You can use this for a fee. Should the wine rack get empty, please report this important problem to the manager as quickly as possible so that he can solve it in an instant.
Under the house are a canoe and a rowing boat for you to use.
A cot and high chair can be placed on request.
Your bed is made upon arrival, towels and beach towels must be brought by the guests.

A cleaning fee of 30 euros will be charged for one or several dogs.
In high season the gite is rented from Saturday to Saturday.
This can be more flexible in mid and low season, where there is a daily price.
With a reservation of 3 weeks or more, we give a 10% discount on the total rent excluding the deposit.
Between October 1 and April 1 we charge 10 euros per day for wood and electricity, during the rest of the year this is included in the rent.
