The house
The Maison de Georges is a spacious authentic farmhouse several hundred years old. Originally, there was a barn for cattle on the ground floor and people lived on the first floor. The heat from the cattle heated the rooms above in the winter. A few years ago, the interior was completely rebuilt, so that you now find a comfortable accommodation with all modern conveniences.
You still reach the living floor of the Maison de Georges by the stairs outside. Upon entering, there is a large kitchen-diner with a fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped. Also on this floor two bedrooms, a bathroom with shower and a separate toilet. Both bedrooms are suitable for two persons (one room with a double bed and one room with two single beds). From the kitchen there is a staircase to the attic; this is a large living room with large windows offering beautiful views of the surroundings. Here you can relax on the couch, read a book or watch a film (DVD/video). There is also sleeping space for two single beds.

La Maison de Georges is part of our Domaine "Les Granges aux Bouys". Bouys is a small hamlet consisting of a few farmhouses in the hamlet of Soussis in the Tarn et Garonne department in South-West France. Soussis consists of a beautiful old church by the stream the Boudouyssou. Around it are scattered houses and farms. There are a few farms with cows (Salers and Blondes d'Aquitaine) and the landscape is very varied. Meadows with grazing cows alternate with sunflower fields, small woods, waving grain or flower fields. Walking or cycling through the area, there is an ever-changing view of the surrounding hills with beautiful vistas.
"Les Granges" (the barns) are situated on top of a hill covered with oak trees and box trees in a quiet and still authentic part of France. On our terrain of 1 ha you will find old barns that have been converted into attractive houses. No luxury country houses or bungalows in a resort here! With us, you stay in a simply restored farmhouse in the middle of cowsheds and meadows, with a view of the hills with walking and mountain bike trails, beautiful vistas and simple villages.
On the slightly sloping terrain there are several places to settle down:
- on the staircase of La Maison de Georges with a view on the stables of the neighbour who regularly comes by with
neighbour who regularly drops by with his tractor,
- at the back of the garden with a view over the hills, or
- at the beautiful swimming pool (6x12m).
In short: an ideal place for those who love peace and quiet and want to enjoy the countryside.

Laat ik beginnen met dat we het een heel fijn huis vinden! Alles is aanwezig, schoon en ook ruim. Precies wat wij leuk vinden aan een Franse gite! Met een fijn, schoon, groot en diep zwembad.
Door de warmte (tussen de 37 en 41 graden) hebben we helaas weinig kunnen ondernemen. En dat is jammer, want er is heel veel te zien en te doen in de omgeving.
We hebben veel in het huis vertoefd met de ventilator aan. Dat was nog te doen.
Ondanks de warmte hebben we ook uitstekend kunnen slapen met de ramen ‘s nachts open en ventilator aan.
Als we niet meer afhankelijk zijn van de schoolvakanties zouden we zo weer terugkomen!

Wij hebben een fijne week gehad in la Maison de Georges. Wij hadden het hele domein voor ons alleen. Het huis is goed ingericht en alles wat je nodig hebt, is aanwezig. Ook met warm weer blijft de benedenverdieping goed koel. Het huis is heerlijk rustig gelegen en er zit een grote tuin omheen. Het zwembad is erg prettig en daar hebben we veel gebruik van gemaakt. Het is makkelijk dat er een douche en toilet in de buurt van het zwembad is.

Een ruime week hebben wij genoten op het domein van Joep en Marjan. Na een hartelijke ontvangst hadden wij het terrein voor onszelf. Een prima huis met prima bedden en van alle gemakken voorzien. Het zwembad was top! Een kwartiertje rijden naar het gezellige dorp Montcuq voor de dagelijkse boodschappen of een gezellig terrasje. In de omgeving is voldoende te ontdekken. Kortom een heerlijke vakantie genoten.
Restaurants, food & wine
You can enjoy an excellent French-style meal in the restaurant Chez Nadine in Saint Matré. You can enjoy a real culinary experience in the restaurant of wine domain Chateau Chambert in Floressas and in Saint Beauzeil (Chateau l'Hoste).
Of course, the large cities of Cahors, Agen and Montauban offer a variety of dining options.
In the high season, there is also the possibility of buying an evening meal at a wine grower's in Saux as well as the 'house wine' and then eating it at long tables with musical accompaniment.
As for wine, in the nearby Lot department you will find the world-famous Cahors wines and many wineries you can visit. Especially recommended are Domaine d'Homs in Saux and Chateau Laur and Chateau de Chambert in Floressas.
Delicious are also the local melons (with its own appellation) 'de Quercy', directly available from the farmer.
The market in Montaigu-de-Quercy (Saturday mornings) is still a real market with many local producers. On Sundays you can go to Rocquecor and Montcuq, on Thursday mornings one of the biggest markets of France takes place in Monsempron-Libos.

Besides the Maison de Georges you also have access to the hangar, an open barn with an extra summer kitchen with toilet, shower, sinks, cooker, refrigerator, washing machine, dryer and a ping pong table, you can use the garden with swimming pool (6 x 12) and picnic table and campfire place. You can also use our internet facility (wifi).
