The house
La Gaudane was an embroidery factory in the 19th century. Today it has been converted into various living spaces of different sizes, while retaining the spirit of the time. This explains the thick golden stone walls and the high windows that flood the spacious flats (former workshops) with sunlight.
The living spaces, scattered around, some of them communicating, each have a particularity and an advantage when it comes to housing large families or groups of friends who come to live together for a week or more. The one overlooking the inner courtyard and garden is smaller but very practical when eating outside. Those on the upper floors are larger, each with a central room of some 100m2, and can accommodate all the tenants for eating or entertaining inside. They are very comfortable and have all the necessary amenities for a stay, yet provide a total change of scenery due to the decorative and architectural choices.
The furniture is very functional and comfortable in a mainly modern spirit.
The garden is home to a sunny swimming pool, but also has a number of shaded areas around it, under the chestnut trees, under a vine arbour or under the cherry trees.
A magnificent site, only 400 m from the shops (bakery, post office, bank, local market, craftsmen and artists), in Cordes itself, close to its centre, on the first slopes of the Cathar city, fortified from 1222, one of the jewels of Albi (listed as a UNESCO heritage site and 30 minutes away).

Surrounded by an orchard of more than 2000 m², La Gaudane forms a cocoon around the swimming pool, where there is no shortage of places to have a barbecue (including the area around the boulodrome with petanque balls available).
La Gaudane, a place that does not forget the children and where books, cuddly toys and other games for them are present everywhere. Even in the garden, where a small house, not far from the swimming pool, is especially designed for them. A small house with furniture, table and chairs that fit them (and that they usually make their own immediately).
La Gaudane is close to the centre of Cordes sur Ciel, and after the car park, it allows you to walk through the alleys and streets with their centuries-old cobblestones, to reach the old town, its artists, its craftsmen, its shops and its restaurants.

In the heart of a land of bon vivants Cordes offers in its surroundings, the opportunity to taste the local and south-western cuisines as well as the famous grape varieties of Gaillac which open their tasting centres (Gaillac which arrived with the Romans is at the origin of the grape varieties of the Bordeaux region, it is said here with pride).
Not forgetting the many local artisanal cheese factories (made from cow's and goat's milk), which can be discovered, tasted and bought while walking in the countryside or at the very typical and well-stocked markets (also within 30 km of the area).
Activities
Between the gorges of the Tarn and the Aveyron, which flow at the foot of rocky cliffs, on hilly land made for walking but also for horse riding, Cordes sur Ciel offers just about everything you could want to practice. If there is no tennis at La Gaudane itself, it is possible to rent courts by the hour within 2 km, to rent bicycles and to practice practically everything, including golf and numerous water sports within 30 km... And even in the sky, whether it's a flight in a hot-air balloon, a tourist plane... or a hang-glider... Not forgetting the many well signposted footpaths.
As far as shows and culture are concerned, there are many local events and festivals, which sometimes force you to make difficult choices, as the town of Albi, just over 25 km away, also organises many events and runs several museums and exhibition centres.

Further remarks
The Gaudane as a whole is too big for you, you are not twenty or so but less. This can be arranged. Sometimes La Gaudane can be rented out "in part" only for an appropriate price.
Additional price info and offers
In order not to have to provide a deposit it is necessary to provide a certificate of insurance from the home insurer of the main accommodation. Otherwise the deposit would be 300 €.
Holidaymakers who prefer to do the end-of-stay cleaning themselves. In this case they must still pay the cleaning costs but as a cleaning deposit. This deposit will be returned to them if everything is correct after the inventory of fixtures at the end of the stay.
Proposal adaptable for 8 and 10 persons if conditions allow it.
