How do visitors / renters know if I participate?
On the Gites website, on every advertisement it is indicated if that property can be booked including the Rebook Guarantee. The visitor can read the guarantee conditions, via a link, on a separate Gites page. Visitors can also read a brief Covid update and about the rebooking guarantee via the ‘read more’ link on the Homepage as well as where normally the "Highlighted Holiday homes" are located.
How long will this guarantee be available?
We don't know that yet, but it will end when the COVID-19 restrictions are over. If the restrictions are going to last a long time, we will have to rethink the guarantee format.
Why a Re-booking Guarantee instead of cancellation?
The renter can cancel a booking, but under the default cancellation conditions he will not get a refund in this situation and would lose his deposit(s). Most cancellation insurances do now reimburse in the event of Covid-10 restrictions. That is why we want to give the renter the opportunity to postpone his booking. If the renter still wants to cancel and the booking is made through our booking system, we will apply the cancellation policy. The property owner will then receive the part of the booking sum that has been paid, after deduction of the agreed commission at the time of booking. The period is then automatically released in the calendar. Of course you can apply more leniency, see the heading: I will arrange something with the renter myself.

You are free to do so. However, you should keep in mind that if the booking is made through the Gites booking system, the booking is embedded in an automated continuous process. If you arrange something with the renter, please inform us of the arrangement (we can then apply a proportionate leniency in the final settlement for agreements).
Rebooking with price difference
It is of course possible that the postponed booking has a different rate to the period of the rebooking. This creates a situation where you have to settle something with your renter. As this concerns an existing booking, you can arrange this privately between you.
Please let us know by e-mail, stating the booking code (5 capital letters), in case Gites has to refund an amount to your renter.
Avoid unbooked weeks
In these uncertain times, we have strived to provide you and your renters with the necessary guidance relating to the introduction of the Rebook Guarantee. With the option to postpone a paid holiday, you will not lose the booking and the renter keeps the prospect of a holiday at a later time. With this we hope to avoid unbooked weeks as much as possible. For the renters there is also an information page where the rebooking guarantee conditions are stated.
Can I accept and also make exceptions?
As long as you reach a friendly agreement with your renter, exceptions, negotiation and compromise are welcomed. You can also reach an understanding about the duration of the guarantee. Between you it could be possible to rebook a different scenario, longer or shorter for example... be creative, be kind but ultimately, agree with each other.
