The Allier, the northernmost department of Auvergne, is a world where peace and quiet reign. Amidst unspoilt nature with forested hills and crystal clear streams, you are far away from hectic existence. Time seems to have stood still here. Here you will get to know a different France. The France of the simple, good life 'à la campagne'.

Thanks to the pleasant climate, visitors are surprised time and again by the varied landscape of the Allier, with its plains, hills, mountains, lakes and forests. Against the backdrop of the Massif Central, the region offers a rich variety of colours; white flowering hawthorn, red earth, green oaks, yellow broom and blue lavender.

Allier
In Auvergne, an hour's drive from Moulin du Coupied, there are two well-known regional natural parks, 'Livradois-Forez' and 'Volcans d'Auvergne' - the latter listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2018. And what about more than 500 Romanesque churches, 50 castles open to the public, and 10 nineteenth-century benevolent spas with the charm and chic of days gone by. By now, you probably understand why we lost our hearts to Allier and Auvergne so long ago.

Châteaux testify to a rich historical life
In the immediate vicinity of 'Moulin du Coupied' are the vast forests of Forêt-de-Tronçais, Forêt Gros Bois and Forêt de Dreuille. The many Châteaux testify to a rich, historical life, including the Château in Bourbon-l'Archambault, Château Le Riau, Château Ygrande, Château Chouvigny, Château la Palice and Château La Louvière revive this historical feeling. Today, some castles in the Allier are venues for various festivities such as classical music concerts, medieval festivals and other cultural events.

Nature and sports lovers' paradise
Take a trip along the beautiful rivers Allier or Sioule. Discover the varied landscape on horseback, canoeing on the Allier or the Sioule. If you prefer higher altitudes, you can abseil or climb the mountains in the east of the Allier or go parasailing from the Puy de Dôme.
Wine lovers get their money's worth in Allier
Wine lovers are in for a treat in the region around Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule: a well-known wine region of mainly white wine. Discover the route that leads past several wine villages and beautiful châteaux. You can taste the rich assortment of wines in the wine cellars.

Chances are that you too would prefer to stay in this fantastic area a little longer. With our holiday homes, we are happy to contribute to a relaxing and unforgettable stay in perhaps the most beautiful region of France! Saint-Pourcain-sur-Sioule

Gîte le Moulin has received 1 reviews in the last 4 years with a:

    Pluspunten:
