The house
Our new, Provencal villa has a spacious and bright living through 2 sliding doors to the terraces, and a sitting area for 8 people, TV, DVD, Internet (WIFI). Dining table also for 8 people, air conditioning in all rooms.
Lovely, spacious kitchen, equipped with all comforts: induction hob, combi-oven/microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, coffee machine (filter and nespresso machine), kettle, toaster and mixer. The washing machine, dryer and ironing board are in a separate room on the upper floor; there is also a cot and high chair and a stair gate.
There are 4 spacious bedrooms, all equipped with air conditioning. 3 Bedrooms with boxsprings, one with a double bed. All mattresses measure 80x200 cm. The bedrooms downstairs have French windows. 2 Bathrooms, both with toilet, one with shower, the other with bath. You can bring your own bath- and bed linen or rent them, at € 15,- p.p.
Because there are two bedrooms with a bathroom upstairs, and two with a bathroom downstairs, there is a lot of privacy possible and the house is very suitable for 2 couples, or families.
The swimming pool is 10x5 m and has an electric cover. It uses salt electrolysis and closes early October. Around the pool are marble terraces with 4 sun loungers and 2 (shadow) seats, both with 6 chairs (nice and solid garden furniture, no plastic).
Please note: We do not rent to (groups of) young people. Pets are not allowed.

Villa Les Palmiers is located at the edge of the holiday park "les Rives de l'Ardèche" and offers a magnificent view over the valley of the Ardèche.
Vallon-Pont-d'Arc is a touristic, but cosy city; even in the season there is always a place to sit on a terrace or in a restaurant.
The big attraction of the area is of course the Ardèche itself with its "Pont d'Arc" and its "Gorges": a descent with a canoe is a sensation, and also a car trip along the river is an experience.

Restaurants, food & wine
The cuisine of the Ardèche is perhaps less refined than that of other regions in France, but the sausages and cheeses (chèvre), the olives and honey will surprise you. The wines of Ardeche are delicious, in fact, as good as the neighbouring Côtes du Rhône. You can visit several chateaux, and of course taste their wines.
Vallon-Pont-d'Arc, but also most places in the vicinity (very nice is Joyeuse, and further away, but top: Uzès) have weekly markets, where the smell of the Provencal herbs lures you to all the delicacies that the French "Campagne" has to offer.
There are more good restaurants, but we have a very good experience with "Auberge les Murets" in Chandolas: fantastic menus for reasonable prices, wine idem, in the summer delicious and romantic outdoor dining. Actually, only French people come there, and early booking is required (0475390832).
Activities
In the park, you can use the tennis courts, the basketball court and the bowling alleys free of charge.
The large communal swimming pool is beautifully situated and has a separate area for the little ones, as well as a play area and a cosy bar.
The Ardèche is not only ideal for canoeing, but also for swimming and sunbathing along the banks. The clear water is also perfect for fishing, including trout.
The region also lends itself to lovely walks, such as in the "Bois des Paiolives"', and for cyclists: the Mont Ventoux is not far away!

Further remarks
In the nineties of last century, close to the Pont d'Arc, a cave was discovered with prehistoric paintings that turned out to be the oldest in the world: twice as old as those of "Lascaux" for instance, and according to us, even more beautiful!
This "Chauvet cave" is not open to the public (to protect the paintings), so there is a museum in Vallon where you can admire the achievements of the Cromagnon man. An exact replica is being built (on the road to St Remèze), which will open in the course of 2015.
Apart from the museum, in Vallon you can visit the chateau, now the town hall, with 16th century tapestries: entrance is free during opening hours of the town hall.
