The house
Forest house la Maison du Gardien is the caretakershouse of Château la Perche (1870) and is hidden in the woods of an old estate in the beautiful and quiet area of Les Pays des Combrailles of the Auvergne - Rhône Alpes. The house is a small copy of the main country house where we live and work and run our B&B with small campsite. The house consists of a living room, separate kitchen with 3 spacious bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Outside there is plenty of space and you have a picnic table, garden furniture, fireplace and BBQ. The house is rustically furnished and has retained all its charm. In the house there is a large beautiful stone staircase and the house overlooks the meadow with our sheep. You walk into the woods for a cozy campfire and on the playground there are swings, a trampoline etc. A true 'Basse Cour' with a variety of chicken breeds, chicks, turkeys, peacocks and rabbits runs around the carriage house. Within a few minutes you will find a beautiful swimming lake with sandy beaches and a small snack bar in the first village and shops are within 10 minutes (Lidl & Carrefour).

The holiday home is well hidden in a green area on a 17 hectare estate on Château la Perche, between the villages of Lapeyrouse and Montaigut and Combrailles. A very quiet area with warm summers and many rivers and lakes nearby. The estate is located at the beginning of the central Massief and belongs to the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region.

Restaurants, food & wine
Everyday, you can go to one of the local markets to get the products of the region. In the summer months you can eat outside for a long time and there is a BBQ next to the house. In the immediate vicinity there are many nice restaurants to go to. We have a list for you with all the best dining addresses, Try a French lunch between 12-14h in one of the local restaurants. In the evenings you can go to the village of Néris les Bains (15 min) where you can eat the local truffade at La Brasserie. The wine region at Saint Pourçain sur Sioule is reached within 45 minutes, which is France's oldest wine region. On Saturday mornings you have a nice market in St Pourcain and in Montluçon and we have tips to drive through a beautiful route to vineyards.
Activities
In a radius of 30 km you can enjoy walking, cycling, swimming, canoeing in the Gorges de la Sioule, climbing in the climbing park at Echassieres, renting the Vélorail in Lapeyrouse for a bike ride over the old railway track to Saint Eloy les Mines. Visit the excavation in the forests of La Bosse, there are 2 beautiful swimming pools within 10 km of sandy beaches, the cities of Vichy, Montluçon and Clermont Ferrand are worth a visit, like the Puy de Dôme, the largest volcano of the central Massive or visit the amusement park Le Pal at Moulins including a beautiful zoo, Vulcania the Theme Park, The Dinosaur park Paleopolis in Gannat, Spa & Wellness in Neris les Bains and the Golf Course at Montluçon. We have all the information available to you and there is always someone nearby that can give tips on Château la Perche. We are your Tourist Office and also Bread Depot. In the summer, you can order your bread and croissants from the local bakery shop.

Further remarks
We live ourselfs on the B&B estate of Château la Perche and are always your contact point for questions. A reservation with us is confirmed upon receipt of 50% of the total rent. The security deposit is 150,00 euro and can be paid on the day of arrival. Cleaning: 75,00 euro (this includes linen). Upon arrival, the beds are made for you. Consumption electricity will be calculated separately at 0.30 € / kwh along with the tourist tax of 0.50 pp per day. (Children under 12 years excluded).
