The house
Amid the rolling meadows is the domain Les Guignés, large 20 hectares and where in 2004 we came to live with our 11 horses from Texel Netherlands, and started Mansolein Haras, horse breeding.
The gîte is located in the over 200-year-old bistro/farmhouse. This is where carriages used to be harnessed and horses changed (the stone drinking trough by the well is still there) and where travellers could eat and drink.
In the baker's cottage opposite the cottage, bread was baked in the large oven.
Now it is a spacious house for 4/6 people, fully equipped and pleasantly warmly decorated.
On the ground floor is the living-dining kitchen with the sitting room behind it. There is also a shower room with washbasin and toilet.
The hallway leads to the first floor with the second bathroom with toilet and two spacious bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with bunk beds and a single bed. Heating in winter via oil central heating.
Outside is plenty of space and there are places to enjoy the sun or shade everywhere. Flowerbeds, lots of greenery, colour and a large playing field.
Whether you come for the centuries-old culture, the endless nature, the pleasant towns with cosy markets and fresh baguettes every day, or the pleasure of watching the beautiful horses and foals in the surrounding meadows: you are most welcome!

Our farm stands in the middle of a small valley surrounded by forests and with no neighbours. You can wander endlessly here without encountering people or traffic, so you will experience a unique feeling of peace and freedom, as if you were briefly detached from everyday busy life.
Here you will experience the rhythm of nature again.
Nature and bird lovers will be in their element here. A snake eagle has its permanent home in the edge of the woods and from spring onwards you will see several pairs of red kites circling above the farm. Deer and deer, boars and foxes, badgers and many species of songbirds and birds of prey. The lynx also occurs here and has been spotted several times.
There are many lakes in the area, the area is also called "the 1000 lakes" or the Blue Heart of France.
In the vicinity of this hilly landscape you will find beautiful towns and villages. Often with a history dating back to before the Romans. It was the Romans who discovered the healing powers of water and built their thermal baths (les Bains) in several places in the Vosges, which are still in use today.
For example Plombières les Bains, partly built against the rocks and popular summer residence of wealthy Parisians until the 1930s, of which the many imposing houses still bear witness. Or Luxeuil les Bains, a town where the Goths traded and the Celts left their mark. Here Atilla the Hun visited with his troops; in 451 he thoroughly rebuilt it. This is where Charlemagne went to bring order and where you can admire the excavations of the first Christian monastery in Europe, founded by Columbanus in 590. Eleven kilometres away, as the crow flies, is a small chapel on the spot where Columbanus meditated. Here, the forces of nature weave a magnificent story, a story of tranquillity and peace.

Een prachtige plek om tot rust te komen. In het midden van weilanden en tussen de paarden. Een goed ingerichte, koele (zeer welkom met temperaturen rond de 30 Celsius!) en voorzien van alle gemakken, gite!. Zeer vriendelijke en behulpzame eigenares en familie die ons goed geholpen hebben met ons autoprobleem! Zeker een aanrader wanneer je van rust en eenvoud houdt. Een mooie omgeving met veel mooie dorpjes, (zwem) meertjes en vriendelijke Franse mensen. Wij missen het nu al....

We hebben genoten van de gastvrijheid de omgeving en de rust. We voelsen ons welkom en hebben tips gekregen om de omgeving te verkennen. De omgeving biedt gelegenheid voor fietsen wandelen en golfen en vliegvissen. Wie van rust en natuur houdt kan hier volop genieten.

We hebben twee fantastische weken gehad in september. We genoten van de stilte 's nachts en de rust van landelijk Frankrijk. Tegelijkertijd gebeurt er van alles op het erf: het is geweldig om te zien hoe deze hardwerkende familie liefdevol omgaat met de paarden. We komen zeker nog een keer terug!
Restaurants, food & wine
That the French love good food and drink is well known. In every town, you will find many restaurants where the local products can be enjoyed. This region is the cherry region of France. The world famous Kirsch from Fougerolles (you can visit the distillery), but also the Comté cheese comes from here. At the many summer markets, there are always the small stalls of private individuals, with their own products such as goat's cheese, honey and beeswax, jams, wine, etc. A true feast of taste!
Activities
The forest and hilly surroundings lend themselves well to all kinds of activities such as hiking,
cycling, canoeing and fishing, swimming, horse riding, tennis, rock climbing and paragliding as well as skiing and cross-country skiing.
Approximately 15 km away is the famous golf course of Luxeuil les Bains.
Apart from these activities, you can explore the beautiful old towns or enjoy the peace and quiet of the surrounding nature or relax and be pampered in one of the thermal spas; baths with healing water from Roman times. Or stroll around one of the many weekly markets and "vide greniers" (flea markets).
There are many walking and cycling routes, both on level ground and adventurous circular walks in the higher mountain areas of the Haute Voges.
At many waterfalls there are picnic places where it is nice to rest. There are also beautiful tourist car routes e.g. along the "1000 lakes".
In winter, there is the possibility of skiing, cross-country skiing etc. in the area or hiking in the endless forests
