The house
Time at La Prairie Étoilée is all about unplugging from the everyday world, recharging your batteries and reconnecting with yourself, each other and with nature.
Here you will find beautiful spaces, inside and out, to help you to experience the best elements of off grid living with luxurious touches and comfortable surroundings. Create wonderful memories as you immerse yourself in nature, explore and adventure and by just sitting by the fire and gazing at the stars!
The Accommodation
Your tent is perfectly positioned in it's own private space in a wildflower meadow. Inside the light and spacious tent you will find a fully furnished interior with sumptuous bed and comfy sofa all designed to help you relax and enjoy every moment of your stay. All lighting is solar powered and there are battery packs in the tent to charge lights, phones and to power bedside fans. The tent is fitted with a log burner and cosy throws are provided just in case.
Your private, sparkling clean bathroom with large fluffy bath sheets and complimentary toiletries is just a short distance from your tent. In the same building you will find drinking water and your washing up facilities.
Within your al fresco living space, as well as your tent, there is a well equipped summer kitchen with dining space. There is a gas hob and everything you need to selfcater (including champagne flutes), a sunbathing area with sun loungers, parasol and your very own campfire, perfect for a barbecue, toasting marshmallows and sitting by to stargaze the night away!

- Garden and Pool - As well as your own personal outside space, there is a shared garden area with plunge pool.
- Licensed Table D'Hôtes - for an authentic table d'hôtes dining experience, let the resident chef prepare dinner for you both; it's just stroll across the meadow to the licensed Dining Barn.
- Tandem Bicycle Hire - everything at La Prairie Étoilée is especially for two, even the bike hire! Have a fun adventure, explore the local area on a beautiful, comfortable bicycle made for two!
- The Little Shop - We have a little shop for basic necessities, cold drinks, wine, beer, cider, ice lollies and more!
- Delicious Breakfast, barbecue and picnic hampers are available to order

We are in the heart of the French countryside, a very tranquil rural area surrounded by farmland (agriculture, cows & sheep) in Indre, within the ancient Province of Berry. Well placed for exploring but off the beaten track. Walking & cycle routes from right outside the gates.
The pretty local village has 3 signposted walking trails, an artist studio/gallery, e-bikes for hire and an al fresco bar (Thursday to Sunday) through the summer months.
Within 15 to 30 minutes drive are lakes for relaxing, swimming, kayaking and other water sports. There are beautiful villages, chateaux and lots of cultural and quirky places to visit in the area.
Nearest towns for provisions:-
Crevant 6km away has a small general store, butchers, bakers, postoffice and bar/restaurant. The nearest town is Airgurande 7km away with a wide range of independent shops including bakers and butchers, florists etc, a couple of bars and supermarkets and a vibrant market on Friday mornings. La Chatre is 19 km away, a bigger town with medieval roots, it has a number of supermarkets, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.
We have a small honesty shop on site and lots of food options if you want to stay put and relax in the tranquil surroundings.

We had a great relaxing time at la prairie. The tent is really amazing, beautiful and well equipped. Cooking on the campfire with the dutch oven brought us a new experience and we enjoyed it!!
The area is nice to discover by car, but the best is to relax and enjoy a long breakfast, prepared by Nadine & Simon, followed with a swim in their pool, or in one of the nearby lakes (they are happy to guide you to the best pearls in the neighborhood).
And the cherry on the cake is definitely the table d’hote!
You will not regret booking your stay here!
Restaurants, food & wine
We have an on-site licensed table D'hotes where resident chef, Simon, cooks a couple of evenings a week (advance booking essential). Join us for an aperitif followed by a restaurant quality three or four course dinner. We can also provide delicious breakfast baskets, picnics, barbecue packs cook on the campfire.
There are 10 restaurants within reach which are in the Michelin guide, two of which hold Michelin Stars. There are of course many more authentic little eateries dotted around in nearby towns and villages and at lake side.
You can also visit a number of local producers of wine, goats cheese, snails, beer and vegetables in the area and buy from the local markets (Friday, Saturday,Tuesday and Wednesday) or, if your visit doesn't coincide with market day, there are independent shops specialising in local organic produce and specialities.
Activities
The Indre is a beautiful unspoilt area of France at the southern most point of the Centre Val de Loire region, this is France off the beaten track. There are lots of opportunities for car free days with a number of walking routes from the site, including walks with donkeys! We also have tandem bikes to hire on site for a fun way to explore the local area - or bring your own!
Being on the Creuse/Indre border we are well placed for exploring the ancient province of Berry and the Limousin. By car, you can easily access many lakes for wild swimming, kayaking and fishing - even waterskiing, inflatables and boat trips. There's also a golf course and Spa nearby.
There are lots of cultural and historic places to visit, two of France's most beautiful villages, unique museums, ancient fresco adorned churches, chateaux, gardens and the cities of Chateauroux, Gueret and Bourges are in reach. Brocantes and marchés are also plentiful. You can visit a different marché most days and in the summer months, as well as the brocante shops open all year round, villages have their annual events where the streets are filled with stalls of curios and antiques.
There is an abundance of wildlife here and lots of parks, including the Parc des Parelles and Brenne Regional Natural Park, in which to see it. This is also an area of big dark skies, so stargazing at night is the perfect passtime.
