The house
La vache qui vaque is a renovated stone house of 75 m2 with garden that can accommodate up to 5 people
Ground floor:
- Living room with open kitchen.
The kitchen is very well equipped: fridge-freezer, induction hob, oven, microwave oven, dishwasher, coffee machine, Senseo coffee machine, kettle, toaster...
The seats are comfortable for watching TV and also listening to music or reading a book (large TV, DVD player with many DVDs, hi-fi system with many CDs and cassettes, books, children's books, board games, children's games and puzzles)
The living room is equipped with an electric radiator and a fireplace with a wood stove.

Upper floor:
2 bedrooms: 1 bedroom with a double bed and 1 bedroom with 3 single beds.
The bedrooms have storage and duvets with linen, as well as electric heating. There are also extra duvets for each bed. In the large bedroom you will find an ironing board with an iron. We provide free baby equipment on request: cot, bath, changing mat, high chair.
Outside, you will find a table with parasol and a barbecue.
The garden is not enclosed.
A closed shed is at your disposal to store your bikes.

The gîte La vache qui vaque is an independent house located near the owners' house.
It is close to Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët (4 km) where you will find all amenities (supermarkets: Leclerc, Carrefour, Lidl, Aldi, butchers, fishmongers, greengrocers, hairdressers, clothes shops, pharmacies, doctors and a hospital), a media library, a cinema, a swimming pool, a riding school and a pond (fishing possible). Many walks start within 4 kilometres of the gîte.
The towns of Avranches and Fougères are half an hour's drive from the house.
If you like second-hand goods and antiques, there are many sales points in Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët, Domfront, Fougères (Emmaüs open on Wednesdays and Saturdays), etc...

Heel fijn huisje met alle voorzieningen. Supervriendelijke eigenaars die je welkom heten met een flesje cider. Ook leuk om een paar dagen hout te stoken in de prima kachel. Het dorpje vlakbij is wat mager, maar je bereikt binnen het uur alle kleppers van Bretagne. Bedankt voor de fijne ontvangst!

Fantastisch huis, smaakvol ingericht en van alle gemakken (en meer!) voorzien.
We werden hartelijk welkom geheten met een fles heerlijke cider.
Fijne rustige, landelijke omgeving waar je heerlijk tot rust komt. Toch is het stadje is dichtbij.
De Middeleeuwse steden Fougères en Domfront zijn op een half uur rijden! Of lekker cider en calvados proeven………
Eigenaar Ed is bij de hand als je onverhoopt toch even hulp nodig hebt!

There is no shortage of gastronomic specialities around you!
Normandy is a region of cheeses: don't hesitate to try camembert, Pont l'évèque and neufchâtel for example. And afterwards, let yourself be tempted by other specialities among the many French cheeses.
Normandy is also a land of orchards and is famous for its apples: enjoying a glass of Norman cider or apple juice in the garden gives a special flavour to your holiday!
Other culinary specialities in the area: Isigny butter and cream, Vire andouille, Caen-style tripe, Camembert, Mère Poulard's omelette at Mont Saint Michel, teurgoule (rice pudding), Cancale oysters, galette saucisse...
Activities
The gîte is situated on the borders of Ille-et-Vilaine, Orne, Mayenne and Calvados.
From the gîte you can go for a walk in the forest of Fougères, visit the medieval town of Domfront, visit Mont Saint-Michel or Saint-Malo, stroll through the streets of Villedieu-les-Poëles or walk around the Datée lake (Vire), and why not visit the castle of Lassay-les-Châteaux, Avranches or Fougères, the waterfalls of Mortain or eat oysters in the port of Cancale, visit the Avranches scriptorial....
Two amusement parks (Ange Michel and Village enchanté de Bellefontaine) are less than 30 kilometres away. Two zoological parks are less than an hour's drive away: Champrepus Zoo and La Bourbansais Zoo.
A golf course is less than 30 kilometres away.

You will find a list of market days and places.
You are welcome on the first day of your stay from 4 pm until 10 am on the day of departure. If you wish to arrive earlier or leave later, we can make arrangements.
Additional price info and offers
The rental price includes linen (sheets, towels, tea towels, tablecloths) and water. Electricity is included in the price for consumption of 10 kWh/day in summer and 40 kWh/day in winter. Beyond that, the supplement will be charged at the current rate based on actual consumption, off-peak and peak hours according to the meter reading at the start/end of your holiday.
If you wish to use the wood-burning stove during the winter months, we provide wood free of charge.
Beds are made up on arrival and a wide range of essentials are available: sponges, washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets, kitchen towels, tea towels, toilet paper, paper towels, spices, salt, pepper, vinegar, oil, pasta, rice, coffee, tea, etc.
Cleaning by us is optional (60 euros).
The deposit is 200 euros and will be returned directly after your holiday if there is no damage, less electricity used in excess of 10kwh/day (or 40kwh/day in winter).
The house is fully equipped and all rooms have programmable electric heating.
