Les Vertes Fosses is named after the protected dune area near hameau Tranquille, a neighbourhood community of the small municipality of Surtainville, Around a cour are four semi-detached houses, three of which are rented. The houses are privately owned and therefore different in layout. The remaining houses are permanently occupied by French people.
The house has a ground floor with a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, toilet and fully equipped living room. The upper floor has two bedrooms. Les Vertes Fosses has a double bed of 1.60 x 2.00 and two single beds of 0.90 x 2.00. A cot, highchair and baby bath are available on request.
The house has a flat-screen television with digital reception with Dutch channels.
Les Vertes Fosses has a fully enclosed garden with garden furniture,
From the house there is an unobstructed view of the dunes.
The house is well insulated and is fully double-glazed. The house is heated with electric radiators or with the wood-burning stove.

The houses are situated opposite the Channel Islands of Jersey and Guernsey on the edge of and overlooking the Littoral protected dune area "Les Vertes Fosses" at 800 metres from the beach. The hinterland can be compared to South Limburg. Many hills and valleys with lovely situated manors and beautiful castles.
You have free access to the dune area, but the dunes are grazed by cattle from the end of October to May 1st.

De gite was mooi gelegen, voorzien van alle gemakken en de eigenaar was goed bereikbaar als je met vragen zat. We hebben een hele fijne vakantie gehad in les Vertes Fosses, alleen jammer dat het slot van de openslaande deuren naar de tuin niet goed werkte. Je was echt zo'n 5 minuten bezig om het open of dicht te krijgen. Maar deze gite is wel echt een aanrader!

We hebben een heerlijke week achter de rug. Een geweldig huis met een ruime tuin. Prima meubilair zowel binnen als buiten. Het uitzicht over de duinen is geweldig en je kunt zelfs al een stuk zee zien. De zee is op loopafstand en het strand heb je bijna altijd helemaal voor jezelf. Het ontvangst is heel vriendelijk en de wijn die klaarstond was heerlijk.( zo lekker zelfs dat we een paar flessen hebben gekocht en meegenomen ). Kortom, zoek je rust op een mooie locatie, dan is dit de plek.

Huisje ligt op een fantastische plek! Direct aan de duinen. Het strand ligt op loopafstand en is heerlijk rustig. De mensen die niet alleen natuur zoeken maar ook leuke restaurants of dorpsfeesten etc. zijn hier ook op de goede plek. Het huisje is echt fijn, met prachtig terras aan het duin, kortom een plek om heerlijk te ontspannen voor jong en oud! Een plek om naar terug te keren.

Restaurants, food & wine
Normandy cuisine is characterised by creme fraiche and fresh butter. There are many restaurants in the area where you can enjoy an excellent meal at a reasonable price. In Carteret, a fishing village 7 km from the house, one can enjoy the freshly landed fish. Cider and Calvados are among the regional drinks. The region is known for its cheeses.
There are weekly markets in the nearby towns of Bricquebec (Monday, with cattle market), Portbail (Tuesday), Carteret (Thursday), Les Pieux (Friday) and Barneville (Saturday). In the high season, there is a little train running on Tuesdays from Carteret to Portbail.
In France, one does not go to the market for dumping prices, but for the high quality and freshness of the products on offer.
On Sunday, in front of the bakery in Surtainville, there is a butcher with wood-fired roasts and chickens.
Activities
For the sports cyclist (bring your own bikes) with strong calves, there is much to experience. At 2,5 km there is a tennis court and for the beach lover there is a lot to enjoy. In the early and late season, the waves are high enough for surfing. In summer, windsurfing is possible. Also for the walker there is much to enjoy. The GR223 runs along the house and leads along the entire coast of Manche. The dunes, as mentioned earlier, are freely accessible and also on the beach are wonderful walks.
Especially for people who want to relax and enjoy the nature and culture that Manche has to offer, this is an excellent place to spend the holiday. The medieval history is visible in the landscape and the recent history can be followed via the route that leads along the debarked beaches. Utah-beach is half an hour's drive from the house. A visit to the Mont St. Michel is also worthwhile.The house is available for rent throughout the year.

The house is fully double-glazed and is heated by high-quality electric radiators, making it ideal for living in all year round, including the early and late seasons.

All prices include gas and water, but exclude electricity (€ 0.25 per Kwh) and € 45.00 cleaning fee. A departmental tourist tax of € 0.80 per person per day must also be paid. On arrival a deposit of € 75,00 per week is requested, with a maximum of € 150,00.
Pets (max. two): € 8,75 per week per pet.
Cot (assemble and tidy up by yourself), baby bath and high chair free of charge on request.
Rental prices are valid from 2 persons.
