The house
Domaine de Chantageasse has several holiday homes and, during the summer holidays, four chambres d'hôtes including breakfast. There is room for a total of 35 to 40 people.
Holiday home La Fauvette is a nice and warm holiday home. Quietly located at the back of the courtyard garden.
Downstairs is a cosy, atmospheric and spacious living/dining room with kitchen and sitting area. Upstairs are two pleasant bedrooms with original Charentaise walls and details and a comfortable and spacious bathroom with walk-in shower.
This gîte is suitable for 4 people.
Ground floor:
Entrance, spacious living/dining room (approx 35m²) with sitting area and dining table. Open kitchen, fully equipped with fridge-freezer, dishwasher, gas stove, oven, microwave, Senseo coffee machine and kettle. Staircase in the room. Toilet.
1st floor:
Hallway. Bathroom (approx 4.5m²) with shower, washbasin and toilet.
1 bedroom (approx 15m²) with a double bed.
1 bedroom (approx 11m²) with two single beds.

Garden set in the courtyard garden, in front of the gîte.

Domaine de Chantageasse is an, at the edge of the Cognac region, authentic farmstead. Surrounded by fields of grapes, rape, wheat and/or sunflowers. Near a typical French village yet also a short distance (6 km) from the larger town of Saint Jean d'Angély (St Jean).
St Jean has a rich history, in the centre there are several places of interest, original half-timbered houses and the "L'Abbaye Royale" and its buildings (UNESCO). There are several bars to enjoy a drink and no shortage of restaurants. At Plan d'eau on the River Boutonne, you can fish, canoe, kayak and pedal boat. Next to it is the swimming pool Le Centre Aquatique Atlantys, with various facilities such as a jacuzzi, a hammam and a sauna. Furthermore, St Jean offers mini golf, a go-kart track, a skateboard track, tennis, a mountain bike circuit and a motocross track, among other things.
The friendly seaside resort of Fouras can be reached in 40 minutes, while the larger cities of Royan and La Rochelle, suitable for beach and shopping, can be reached within an hour.
In the Cognac region, there are 4 beautiful tourist wine routes to drive ranging from 68 km to 173 km. You can take a look at the various cognac houses and enjoy the tranquillity of the vineyards.
There are several golf clubs in the area within an hour. For an 18-hole course you can go to Saintes, la Rochelle, Niort or Cognac.
For the little ones, Saint Savinien offers water fun at Port Miniature, where they can sail their own boats.

Restaurants, food & wine
The Charente-Maritime has many local products to offer, you can find these, for example, at the covered market in Saint Jean d'Angély on Wednesday and Saturday mornings and also in the many restaurants in the area. And on our domain, the Pineau tastes extra fine.
Oysters and mussels, Cognac and Pineau de Charente, sea salt from the islands, all regional products to try or to take back to the Netherlands as souvenirs.
A Cognac/Pineau tasting should not be missing from this holiday. We will show you the possibilities and organise a tasting for you if you wish.
Activities
During the summer holidays, there is plenty to do for the children. They quickly make friends with whom they can play table tennis, swing or play in the climbing house with slide and sandpit. The large swimming pool and the trampoline remain everyone's favourites.
The children sometimes organise a football or table tennis tournament on their own initiative, and when dusk falls, old-fashioned tag and hide-and-seek are still popular.
Outside the summer holidays, it is mainly enjoying the peace, space and getting out to explore the area. Runners love to cover kilometres around Chantageasse, and you can also make beautiful trips on a road bike or mountain bike.
Further remarks
Domaine de Chantageasse is ideally suited for weddings and groups.
Thanks to its maritime climate, this region has a very pleasant temperature for much of the year (2600 hours of sunshine).
Our aim is to offer both adults and children an enjoyable holiday spot. You will stay in a casual, relaxed environment where holidays become holidays again.
