The house

  • Quiet, rural area with some agricultural activity

3 bedroom modern gite, 3 star rated set in large secure grounds in the heart of wine country. It is the perfect spot to relax, peaceful, tranquil and spacious. The gite has it’s own private garden area with swimming pool, a BBQ & children’s play area. There are garden games in the gite such as molky, and cards and rumikub in the gite. The kitchen has a gas hob, fridge freezer, electric oven, microwave, senseo coffee machine and dishwasher.
There are 3 bedrooms, all beds are 200cm long! There is a king size bed, 2 doubles and 1 single, all have very comfortable memory foam mattresses, pillows and quilts for the winter and blankets in the summer months. We provide all bedding and towels for your stay, you will however need to bring beach towels for the pool or the local swimming lakes or beach should you choose to visit them. There is WiFi, TV & DVD player in the loung along with a 3 piece leather suite. There are childrens toys, Travel cot, high chair and baby bath available on request.
The gite has off road secure parking on the grounds behind an electric gate.
The local town has a restaurant, 2 boulangeries, a boucherie, bar/tabac, food shop, pharmacy doctor, dentist and a local vignoble to visit and try the locally grown and produced wine and pineau.
Chevanceaux is nicely situated in the Charente-maritime, 45 minutes from Bordeaux & its Merignac airport. Less than hour to Cognac, the medieval town of Jonzac & the beautiful St. Emilion.
No pets.
We live on site in a seperate building, with our own private garden.

Chevanceaux is a small town in the heart of wine country.

The gite is set in the countryside surrounded by forest, vineyards and open fields as far the eye can see, we have a few neighbors but very discreet.

The gite is in a large plot of land surrounded by trees, and large open gardens, complete with a small orchard which guests are welcome to pick their own fresh fruit when ripe.

Enjoy a BBQ and let the kids run free in the large play area which has a slide and swings, and outdoor games for the family to let their competitive side loose. There is an above ground, I heated, fenced and secure swimming pool for the sole use of the gite.
Chevanceaux is within a 20 minute walk of the gite, it has 2 boulangeries, a Boucherie, bar/tabac, a small supermarket, a restaurant, pharmacies, doctor and dentist, although we hope you have no use for the later whilst your are here.
The closest large supermarket is a 15 minute driver rom the gite in Montguyon.

Restaurants, food & wine

There is a small restaurant in town open, monday to Saturday. (He usually closes for his annual holiday towards the end of August) The restaurant also make pizza to takeaway on a Saturday. There is a pizza van in town on a Thursday afternoon. The boucherie makes fresh meals daily to takeaway as well, and the boulangeries make fresh sandwiches, quiches and croque monsieur in addition to the amazing bread and cakes!

Activities

There are various swimming lakes in the area, with pedals, paddle boarding and kayaking. There is a green route, which is a disused rail line which is perfect for walking or bike riding there are various access points across france and we are lucky enough to have one in town. Horse riding is available at various country parks in the area, we live 10 minutes from a beautiful free to enter country park, with playground for the children and a cafe to buy drinks, ice creams and locally made produce and gifts.
