The house
Looking for a detached holiday home in a beautiful spot in the French 'flatlands'?
with all the attractions of the Dordogne, the Limousin and the Lot around the corner? Then we would like to welcome you at Gites de Labrot where we have made two holiday houses out of the bakery (2 persons) and the stable (8 persons).
Our farm dates from 1839, baking and cooking used to be done in a separate bakery. Our bake house from 1842 is now a comfortable detached holiday home for two people.
The bakery has a fully equipped kitchen. But it is also possible to join us twice a week or more. For example, for a joint bbq on the day of arrival or a hot meal. There is also a bread and fresh eggs service!
The bakery has two terraces complete with garden furniture and a charcoal bbq. From May onwards, the swimming pool in the grounds is open to our guests. There is a play area for children (trampoline, swings, badminton, sandbox etc) and on the grounds (5000 m2) are many fine places to relax in the shade or sun!
Gites de Labrot is situated in the French countryside, at the top of a south-facing slope, with a beautiful view of the valley.
But it is also located 8 km from the Dordogne, where there is a wide choice of activities and sights. Cities such as Terrasson la Villedieu and Brive la Guillarde are also nearby.

Gites de Labrot consists of 4 buildings. The old farm, the stable, the bakery and the barn. Situated on 5000 m2, at the top of a south slope with beautiful unobstructed views. Labrot is surrounded by meadows and forests. Our neighbours live about 600 metres away. In the past they had a large farm with 150 limousin cows, but they are now retired. But they can't say goodbye to the cows completely, there are still about 25 of them. So on the 41 hectares surrounding Labrot you will regularly see Limousin or Saler cows grazing.

Restaurants, food & wine
Walnuts, apples, foie gras and, of course, Limousin meat are the typical products of the region. The walnut and apple trees are also on our own property. But in the summer there is also a walnut route through the region that leads you through all kinds of nice villages where you can taste all kinds of delicacies.
Every Thursday evening in summer there is a market in Ayen with local products, where you can taste and eat together with the locals.
But of course you can also join us for dinner. We can arrange a BBQ on Saturday, the day of arrival. On Wednesday evening is the French evening, where we serve an extensive menu with (h)honest French products. Chateau Haut Meyreau can arrange a wine tasting beforehand, with a selection of wines from the Bordeaux region.
We have a bread roll service, if you place your order in the afternoon, the fresh rolls will be at your door the next morning. You can also get a picknick basket from us. Depending on the season and the success of the harvest of the year, you can use it to pick fruit or vegetables from the kitchen garden.
Activities
Although Labrot is quietly situated in the French countryside, there are many activities to undertake in the immediate vicinity. Gites de Labrot is situated on the border of 3 departments, the Correze (Limousin), the Dordogne and the Lot.
In the Correze you can visit many beautiful villages (Saint Robert for example) or Hautefort, with its beautiful castle. Every day of the week you can visit a market somewhere. In Terrasson la Villedieu, the Dordogne, you can do beautiful city walks through the old medieval centre, but also visit museums or canoe, pedalo and fish on the Vezere.
At about an hour's drive you will find Sarlat with its beautiful centre, La Collognes des Rouge, the red village or for example Rocamadour, the beautifully situated pilgrimage site. But also the caves of Lascaux or le Gouffre de Padirac and many more are impressive to see!

The price includes:
Electricity, a basket of firewood (€ 5,-), bed linen, kitchen and dish towels, a towel package per person and the final cleaning. If you want to bring your dog, there are no extra costs involved. Please notify us in advance.

Prima locatie. Eigenlijk hadden wij het bakhuis geboekt, maar bij aankomst bleek ook de schuur tegen meerprijs beschikbaar te zijn. We hebben gebruik gemaakt van deze mogelijkheid. In de loop van de week werd het weer slechter en bleek deze keus niet verkeerd te zijn. Het bakhuis is erg knus, waar je wel erg op moet letten je hoofd niet te stoten. Alles is aanwezig in het bakhuis wat je nodig kan hebben, maar de schuur was voor ons toch iets comfortabeler. We hebben genoten van het schitterende uitzicht vanaf het balkon. De omgeving is ook prima om te wandelen en te fietsen. Ook leuke dorpjes zijn op 3 kwartier tot een uur rijden te vinden. De broodjesservice is echt een aanrader, zeker het nog warme Labrotbrood!

Wij hebben hier met onze hond een heerlijke week gehad. Gastvrije ontvangst door Tom en Marieke met bbq bij aankomst. Het bakhuis is prachtig gerestaureerd met een weids uitzicht over de vallei met alle ruimte voor de hond. Leuke dorpjes in de omgeving. Een aanrader!
