Our gite, Le Coudoun, is ideal for 2 people, a 3rd person is possible due to the presence of a sofa bed. It is a separate part of our house, a former farm from the 18th century. It has a private entrance with a terrace on the south side and a wide view over a hilly landscape with meadows and woods. Described by some as "paradisiacal" for its absolute tranquillity and space. Apart from a parasol, the proximity of trees provides protection from the sun, which can be bright here in summer.
The gîte was completely renovated in 2021, modern and colourfully decorated, well insulated, equipped with all comforts, while retaining the characterful atmosphere belonging to the French countryside. The swimming pool, which seems to blend into the landscape with its round shape and natural stone edge, is filled with purified Dordogne water. Our 3-hectare site consists partly of forest and, as hunting is not allowed there, roe deer are regular guests.
The layout:
The gîte has 2 rooms, both of about 40m2. On the 1st floor is the bedroom with a washbasin and a toilet. Downstairs is the shower room and a 2nd toilet. There is also the dining/living area with a comfortable sofa bed and a beautiful spacious kitchen with oven, microwave, dishwasher and a 4-burner gas cooker. The stairs are wide and easy to climb.
The bed is 200 x 160 cm, electronically adjustable and, if required, the beds can be moved apart. The thick walls ( 80 cm] keep the house cool for a long time, but there is an almost silent air conditioning ( or heating) available, using a heat pump There is also an electric radiator.
What else you should know;
To be clear: the gîte offers a lot of privacy, but we are (mostly) present in another part of the house and garden. When there are guests, we mainly use the terrace on the west side of the house.

Badefols-sur-Dordogne is a lovely village with around 200 inhabitants in the Perigord Pourpre ( the colour of wine) Important: it has its own bakery and an esteemed restaurant overlooking the Dordogne. The nearest supermarket is 5 km away in Lalinde, a lively village, with a very good butcher/traitteur, bakers and restaurants, not to mention a large market on Thursday mornings. Lalinde also has a railway station with a direct connection to Bordeaux. (1.5. hours, by car at least 2 hours). The larger cities of Bergerac and Périgueux are 30 minutes and 1 hour away respectively. Bergerac has an airport with connections to Rotterdam, among others. In season almost daily.Besides being known for its beautiful rolling countryside, its wine regions, [Pecharment , Monbazillac] truffles and other culinary delights, this is also the area of castles and "Bastides". These are medieval fortified towns, with (mostly) square village squares and arcades, rich in history and impressive churches/cathedrals, but also with cosy catering, markets and cultural activities. In summer, there are often the cosy communal evening meals (nocturnes) there. Incidentally, these are also in many other villages. The bastides Molière, Beaumont and Cadouin and St Avit de Senieur are within 10 km. Monpazier and Belvès a little further away. The famous prehistoric caves of Lascaux are towards Sarlat, about 40 km east. The lesser-known, beautiful caves of Maxange are 12 km away. Fans of canoeing, cycling and hiking will find plenty to enjoy here. In the gîte you will find information about what is worth visiting in the Perigord/Dordorgne and that is a lot.

Heerlijk rustige vakantie gehad! Woning voorzien van alle comfort en mooi ingericht. Gastheer en gastvrouw aanspreekbaar voor alle vragen, maar ook zeer discreet. Top!

De woning is ruim, smaakvol en compleet ingericht. De tuin geeft zon en schaduw en vooral ook veel privacy. Sybren en Marie José zijn bijzonder gastvrij. Dat gecombineerd met de mooie omgeving, maakt dat we twee heerlijke weken hebben gehad in Le Coudon.

‘De gîte van Sybren en Marie José heeft werkelijk alles wat je je kunt wensen voor een verblijf in deze prachtige streek. Aan de kleinste details is gedacht en de inrichting is buitengewoon smaakvol.
De omgeving is prachtig en heel rustgevend. De gastvrouw en gastheer zorgen ervoor dat je optimaal kunt genieten van huis en tuin én van alles wat er in Badefols en omgeving te doen is: o.a. wandelen, karakteristieke dorpjes bezoeken en eten in gezellige restaurantjes waar je de heerlijkste gerechten uit de keuken van de Périgord kunt proeven. Een aanrader dus!’
