The house
There is only one Gite at Les Bois Tranquilles.
The Gite is on two levels and comprises the two buildings. The ground level is the living room and kitchen with three bedrooms on the upper level. The games room is underneath the bedroom wing and exclusively for your use. The Gite access and garden, with ample parking are for your private use.
The gite has 2 double bedrooms and 1 triple bedroom. All mattresses and bedding are of hotel quality (with white cotton bed linen). The beds are all fixed with no cots or pull out couches. Bed sizes are 3 x 140 cm and 1 x 90 cm.
There is a water purifying and softening system on site, so there is no need to buy or bring bottled water.
All bed linen and towels are included in the stay. Fresh towels are available on request. There are also garden/river towels provided.
There is a living room with kitchen/dining, and an additional sitting room upstairs (2 TVs with Netflix), 2 bathrooms, one with separate toilet.
The space is very flexible lending itself to your different needs, see the gite plan in the photos for more information. There is Wi-FI throughout and a dedicated work space can be set up in the upstairs sitting room on request.
There is plenty of private gite car parking, some of it shaded by a 200 year old oak tree.
Enjoy meals on the main covered terrace and there are two further terraces for relaxing.
Shade can be found under many of the old trees and sun loungers are provided.
The gite has 2 BBQs (gas and charcoal). The gas is complementary for your stay.
The Games room is located below the gite and accessed from the courtyard. It has a pool table, air hockey, mini football, Table Tennis and numerous puzzles and board games. This is also a good space to store bikes, leisure equipment or walking gear during your stay.
Outside, there are swings and a dedicated football area with nets. This is suitable for ballgames also.
Stroll in 5.5 hectares of Parkland and woodland. Enjoy the private oak and chestnut forests at Les Bois Tranquilles.
Nature is on your doorstep. See deer, boars, eagles and more.
Swim in the cool clean Dordogne river. Your hosts can share their favourite river beaches nearby.
Enjoy the experience of staying in the 1850's farmhouse, modernised for comfort but with original features intact. Only 5 minutes from Cenac with shops.

Your Gite is 5 mins from Cenac et St Julien and the Dordogne river, where swimming is available.
Cenac has a wide range of shops including a Carrefour supermarket, boulangerie / patisserie, pharmacy, Restaurants, fuel and charging stations for electric vehicles.
There are also a pizza takeaway and a Thai restaurant / takeaway that we know too well.
Sarlat with it's wonderful medieval city, great restaurants, shops and markets are only 20 minutes away.

Sarlat has many restaurants as does Saint Cyprien. Some of our favourite restaurants are close to Sarlat, Castlenaud and in St. Cyprien.
If you wish to do a gastronomic tour, we can help you with that, the local specialities are delicious.
Activities
The Perigord-Noir is filled with many fantastic attractions and they are numerous and there would be too many to put here. The gite is ideally located to be able to enjoy them all, We can share our guests' favourite attractions and things to do. We can provide information, maps and brochures with you when you arrive and help you decide what you would best like to see in the region. There is something for everyone. Guests enjoy the local canoeing, river swimming, forest walks, nearby golf course, visiting the markets at Sarlat and St. Cyprien and much more.
There are many parts to the garden at Les Bois Tranquilles. The garden is made up of trees predominantly and very old oaks, cedars, chestnuts and pines. There is an Oak and Chestnut forest to stroll in on our site and you can connect with the wider forest tracks for a hike from these tracks (maps/directions available). Guests are invited to roam the entire space at Les Bois Tranquilles. There are many individual spaces to sit and enjoy the garden. The bird song is magnificent and if patient you can even spot a woodpecker at work in the trees - the pecking sound and branch of the woodpecker can be spotted with concentration. You can also spot our wild life (Deer, Boar, hares, red squirrels, toads, lizards) and if very lucky an owl making themselves known towards darkness with their distinctive call.
The night sky is perfect for star gazing with no light pollution (don't forget your telescope). It is a great place to spot the perseid meteor showers in August.
