The house
The gîte 'La Madeleine' (3 stars) is located in the garden of our century-old steward's house. The gîte is completely at your disposal, has its own entrance and offers plenty of privacy.
You can relax in the cosy living room with flat-screen TV. Naturally, there is Wifi access.
The open-plan kitchen is fully equipped.
Adjacent to the living room is the veranda overlooking the garden with a large swimming pool. The swimming pool has a terrace with sun beds and parasols. In high season, the pool is heated if necessary.
The bathroom has a shower, toilet and a washbasin.
The spacious bedroom includes two box-spring beds and a wardrobe. We ensure that when you arrive, the beds are made. You can rent a towel package. This package consists of 2 towels, 1 bath towel, 1 tea towel and 1 kitchen towel. Rental price: €7.50 per person.
You can park your car for free in the backyard.
All amenities are within walking distance. Just through the picturesque alley and you are on the market square. During the summer, several markets are organised every week.
There is also a cosy restaurant with a large terrace. In July and August, you can join the locals at long dining tables on the square every Friday evening. There are several food trucks where you can put together your own meal for a fee. You can have your meat grilled for free. There is always live music!
If you feel like strolling a little further, we recommend discovering Salignac Castle.
Last but not least, the rivers La Dordogne and La Vezére, where you can swim, canoe, etc., are within easy reach!

Gîte 'La Madeleine' is in a unique location, namely on the outskirts of the old centre of the village of Salignac and with unobstructed views of the countryside. A few minutes' walk and you are on the market square where there are regular activities such as the weekly goods market and bric-a-brac markets. Every Friday evening in July and August, you can join the villagers for a meal. All kinds of food trucks are set up around the square where you can put together your own meal and have it grilled. Live music is available.
Salignac has all amenities (bakery, butcher, supermarket, grocery, pharmacy, etc.).
The gîte is located in an ancient centre with a beautiful castle that is currently being restored. You can visit the castle.
The historic town of Sarlat is a 20-minute drive away. You can visit the famous market (the largest in the Dordogne) and have a delicious meal in one of the many cosy restaurants.
The rivers La Dordogne and La Vezére are also nearby.

Activities
The gîte is located in the wooded area in the golden triangle of the Perigord Noir. Beautiful walking and cycling trips can be made from the gîte. In addition, there are plenty of activities. Beautiful ancient bastide villages and the famous medieval town of Sarlat-la-Canéda are a short distance away. Sarlat is definitely the most beautiful town in the Dordogne. It is a delight to stroll through it or experience the largest market in the Dordogne. Also nearby are the rivers La Dordogne and La Vezére. You can go swimming, canoeing, kayaking, supping, fishing and there are beautiful boat trips to be made. On the banks of the rivers and in the surrounding area, many ancient castles can be visited. There are also ancient prehistoric caves, above ground, and underground to hike, such as the world-famous Lascaux caves. Lascaux is a cave complex with more than 600 prehistoric murals covering the interior walls and ceilings of the cave. The oldest drawings were made about 17,000 years ago.
